RE: F-250 Truck with 5.4L gas engine

Seems like a rare F250. 5.4 6sp manual. http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/ctd/3032158229.html

RE: The economy must be improving

How much does unemployment affect state revenue? Less people working = less tax revenue coming in. Along with lower paying part time jobs.

RE: The economy must be improving

Maybe it's got little to do with the economy, but a lot to do with people discovering camping again (with 5ers, TTs, TCs, tents etc.). I for one would like to see more jobs and lower gas prices ... and fewer undelivered promises! LOL, Good luck with that, no matter who gets in office. Whats that saying, "If a polititions mouth is moving then"?

RE: Water Hose

Just wondering, if the garden hoses are that bad then what happens when you water vegetable plants if your have a garden. Does that bad water goes into the root system and then into the veggie it's self?

RE: Water Hose

Often regular garden hoses contain high consentrations of led and are not designed to be used for drinking water. This is a fact. It's your call. Is Jimmy Page or Robert Plant in the hose? LOL

RE: I Guess Camping Is Different Here....

I'm 1hr 15 mins to the coast, 2 hrs to the mtns and 3-1/2 hrs to the desert. I could never just go to the same ole spots. Thats part of the fun of having an RV , being able to travel to somewhere new and different. DSFDF I guess.

RE: Wrong Size Tires????

If the tires and axles have the right weight loads then personaly I'd keep em. Cheaper to replace 14" than 15". But I also can see how you could be upset. However brousing around on the net looking at that TT it seems that all the dealers are listing 14" tires as standard.

RE: Maximum I can tow safely with this truck

7,000 and a V6, ya it will pull it ,but don't put nothing but paper plates in it and drive downhill alot! Thats funny, seems like the last test I read that little V6 out pulled that big V8 you have.

RE: GM's new 2013 tow ratings

Don't the new rules say you need to maitain a min speed, not who gets to the top the fastest? So even though Ford or Ram may not be as fast as GM it doesn't mean they can't maitain the minimum speed up grades for the test. I don't see a reason they would need to lower all ratings.

RE: F-150 EB - Tow, or Max Tow Package?

Max tow will give you about 400lbs more payload. Figure around 17-1850lbs for maxt tow. 1400lbs for reg tow. Now take that future 8000lb TT and figure 1000lbs for tongue weight. You have 400lbs left. That could be you, the spouse and a 75lb canoe. Nothing else. Get the maxtow if you can.

RE: Upgrade Tundra to F150 HD?

First, you are comparing apples to oranges... The Toyota is a around a 7.6K GVWR truck, while the fake half ton 150HD is a 8.1K GVWR truck Then understand that their MTWR is NOT an absolute...it depends on their actual weights (both the TV and trailer) Meaning that 10K MTWR is NOT absolute...meaning that if you load either truck till their tires blow up (pop), the MTWR is NOT 10K lbs, but ZERO All the Tundras on the Toyota sites are around 7-7100 GVW. Only big payload I could find was a reg cab long bed @2000+lbs. The rest were 15-1600lbs. Funny thing is even when you do a truck comparison on there you can pick the reg cab long bed 5.7 with 2000lb payload. But when you try and build one it won't let you pick the reg cab with 8' bed.

RE: Portable Waste Tanks

We have a Thetford. Have never towed it. Just pulled it by hand. We have the 4 wheel one. Only issue is it doesn't seem to completely empty. Seems likes 3-4 cups always left in it. Not sure if the Barker totes empty better, but maybe something to look into.

RE: Gas Wars

We have a gas war going on here in Keizer Or, and the consumer is losing. I hate to be on the losing side. $4.16 gal for reg. Cheapest around is 1.66 miles away $4.07. (gasbuddy). It's an Arco station and generally those in this area want cash. If you use your debit card they ding you.

RE: Disconnect battery before arc welding on frame?

Coincidently when I'm welding on my TT I use the same cord for the TT as I do for my wire feed welder. I also have a battery disconnect switch. But yes you should. I really don't know what could happen but better safe than sorry.

I tried wearing gloves when dumping, but then it became difficult to hold my sandwich. :B LOL. Thats funny.

RE: Tow Vehicle Question

Make sure the front of the TT isn't higher than the back. Other than that look for smooth roads.

RE: Pony pump to transfer gray water?

Never done that, but what we do is put a dish pan in the sink to catch all the wasted water then dump it in the black tank. That way we don't fill the grey so fast. We've never filled the black tank even on 3-4 day trips. We have filled the grey and do have a tote. Only 2 of us though.
