RE: Pic's of my new Sumi & Hispec wheel conversion's

Nice looking wheels! Your fiver looks like new (or better) inside and out. I like the back-splash detail and the gorgeous paint. Where did you have it painted? Michelle Henry @ Phoenix Paint Inc She was an OEM painter in Elkhart for the OEM's before going out on her own into the motorhome and fiver repainting business. Great person to work with. Your paint job is a "one of a Kknd" "OAK" as she has a graphic artist work with you and her to design a custom painted scheme. I think our was 3 revisions before we settled on what you see.

RE: Pic's of my new Sumi & Hispec wheel conversion's

Nice! If you don't mind what did they cost per wheel to do that? Tire, wheel, SS center cap, chrome lug nuts, installed and balanced $550

Nice looking wheels! Your fiver looks like new (or better) inside and out. I like the back-splash detail and the gorgeous paint. Where did you have it painted? Thank you. We love the layout and the quality of the old Newmar coach and replacement cost is way into six figures so we figure we'll just keep it maintained and keep it indefinitely at this point. Hopefully it lasts us another 5-10 years. We may have to re-roof it at some point but so be it. If I did not have an rv to play with I'd have a classic hotrod or sports car to play with.

Pic's of my new Sumi & Hispec wheel conversion's

Scott at Trailer Tire & Wheel Supermarket set me up with a set of new H-rated Sumitomo's and a set of Hispec Series 07 wheels this weekend. Drove down to pick them up since I was in the area. He treated us real well. I think the wheels and tires look great on my old trailer. I won't have to worry about clearance issues or load capacity issues whatsoever with these tires. I am setting them at 105psi which according to the Sumitomo inflation load capacity table gives me a 4200lb rating Sumitomo and Hispec wheel pictures

RE: Michelin Ribs OK past 6 Yrs

Just bought a set of new tires yesterday. My old RIB's are dated coded 5007. Just beginning to show some very minor cracking/checking near the rim. I upgraded to 17.5 inch wheels and tires due to clearance issues with the RIB's and my desire to junk my rusty painted steel wagon wheels. Ran them for four years but they are rubbing the underside of my wheel well floor and I had less than 1 inch of clearance between tires, so I had to make a change. I know I can't advertise anything here I will be trying to find a buyer for my old XPS RIB tires since I too agree they have a lot more life left in them.

RE: Woodall's iPhone App is Available in the iTunes Store

Hello Mr Lemonis it's got to be approaching a year now since the Iphone app came out. When can we Android users expect to see a Android version of this app? Good Sam has been saying soon for a long time.

RE: Shocking experience

I had that once on my old stick and tin TT. Only happened when I stoped under some power lines. I could not open the door felt like someing bit me...so moved it down the road real quick once I fugured it out. There was a post here sometime within the last year where someone had problems getting shocked at their storage facility. The thing wasn't plugged in and there wasn't even a battery in the thing. There were high voltage power lines close overhead. This is called an induced charge or induced voltage potential and can be quite dangerous if large enough. I used to work in the radio broadcast industry maintaining RF transmitters and while RF transmissions are at different frequencies than induced high voltage AC line voltages the results and affects can be bizarre and dangerous. Quite disconcerting to walk into a RF transmission room holding a 48 inch fluorescent tube in your hand and have it bust to life and glow brightly simply from the RF in the air. I have heard music and sound project or emanate out of the end of a 1/2 steel rod driven into the ground if you were lined up with the end. Move 6 inches one way of the other and the sound could not be heard.

RE: Thermal Pane

2 Things to look for 1. Are the windows in your new Cedar Creek crank out or sliders. All dual-pane windwos in RV that I have seen have been sliders. 2 With a slider window open is the glass component thin (about 3/16 inch) or thick (about 1/2 thick)? If thick it should have a thin rubber/silicone seal between to sandwich panes of glass.

:( But not in Canada Don't temp me:R I am so sick of the CRTC telling me what I can see and what I can't see. I am so close to finding a way to go to the grey market and get a US satellite service package.

RE: Duro Tire Failure

To the OP. You have now gone from the frying pan into the stock pot or maybe the fire. I had to take Marathon's off my first fifthwheel because they to had all developed bubbles. My bubbles were on the tread not the sidewall. Good luck with your Marathon's. You will have to watch them very closely as well if you hope to catch them before they detonate.

RE: anyone familiar with this tire ?

If you can't or won't find the shift key to capitalize you sentences then please double space every sentence so your thoughts can be read and taken seriously. If you're going to criticize others about grammar, at least spell your own words correctly. :B Oops:S Good catch my friend ;) As they say "touche".

RE: anyone familiar with this tire ?

Not sure what tires you currently have, but I suspect they have a maximum inflation pressure of 80 psi. This G rated Hankook will require about 110 PSI. Make sure your rims are rated for the higher pressure. And please capitalize some of the letters in your posts (like the first letter of the first word in a sentence) -- it is difficult to read with everything all lowercase. This isnt school if you dont like the way its written dont read it. well said wills 250...there's a self appointed grammer monitor on every forum.he was polite however. the bridgestone seems like a solid choice.i should have posted that i have a bighorn 3055 with 6 k axles.now,my only concern is diameter.i can't find the diameter of the 235/80/16 unicorns that it came with.the bridgestone duravis 250 is pushing 32in.any concern of distance between tires? I don't understand why you don't seem to see the importance and intent of the counsel you have received. If you can't or won't find the shift key to capitalize you sentences then please double space every sentence so your thoughts can be read and taken seriously. I hope you realize and care about the way you come across when you won't capitalizing your sentences.

RE: broken brackets on axle

Well the weakest link always fails first. Since the I-beam frame is now braced the twisting action of the hanger can't cracked the vertical part of the I-beam so next weakest part finally snaps. Four narrow small brackets twice as long as they are wide will eventually become brittle and fatigued and finally snap right at the point of attachment. I'd recommend you hire a good trailer building shop to replace all the hangers with heavier and larger ones if you are planning on keeping the trailer for any length of time. OBTW if and when you put on bigger hangers have the shop put more bracing on the I-beam since that will then becomes the weakest link and without more bracing the I-beam will crack.

RE: Crossing border from Port Huron, Mich., on July 4

OK, after much research, here's the adjusted schedule: Day 1: Friday, June 29: Home to Burwell Provincial Park (3 hours) Port Burwell Provincial Park Box 9, 9 Wilson Lane Port Burwell, Ontario N0J 1T0 Day 2: Saturday, June 30: Niagara Falls KOA (3 ½ hours) 8625 Lundys Ln, Niagara Falls, ON, Canada Day 3: Sunday, July 1: Niagara Falls KOA Visit Niagara Falls/Maid of the Mist http://www.niagarafallstourism.com/thingstodo.html Day 4: Monday (Travel day), July 2: Grundy Provincial Park (5 hours) http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/grun.html R.R.#1 Britt, Ontario Day 5: Tuesday, July 3: Grundy Provincial Park Hang out; maybe visit Killarney Provincial Park. Day 6: Wednesday, July 4: Grundy Provincial Park Hang out Day 7: Thursday, July 5 (Travel day): Muskallonge Lake State Park (7 ½ hours) Day 8: Friday, July 6: Muskallonge Lake State Park Hang out. Maybe go to Pictured Rocks Day 9: Saturday, July 7: Muskallonge Lake State Park Hang out. Maybe go to Tahquamenon Falls Day 10: Sunday, July 8: Drive home (6 hours) I live in Sarnia and travel this area on both side of the border extensively for business. Your estimate of 3 hours for travel from Lansing to Port Burwell is not doable. Google maps show the distance as 4hr-10min plus you should add 1hr for custom's delays so I would plan at least 5 hrs for the trip.

RE: Newmar Fifth Wheels

Gitane: Gotta ask: You put a lot of thought, money, and effort into the renovation of your Kountry Star. Why let her go??? Good question!! I keep asking myself that. I will be retiring in 4 years and hopefully will enter the fulltime lifestyle. Our current trailer has a much smaller basement storage area than current Z-frame based fifthwheel's as well as a six inch step up into the bedroom area from the bathroom area. I am trying to make a decision when to take on the debt of a new fulltimers unit. Do I take it on now and have a 3-4 years to pay it down resulting a 3-4 year old unit at retirement with little of no debt or do I wait till much closer to retirement and carry some debt into retirement. Everytime I go into my coach I ask myself why I would consider selling or trading it because it is all renovated just the way we like it.

RE: Newmar Fifth Wheels

We have a 2003 Kountry Star 5th. It has been a great unit. The rumors about the death of the Newmar 5th wheel has been floating around for many months. This is a sad day for Newmar. It might be the correct decision for their business, but it is a sounding board that the 5th wheel market has far to many high end units. A few drop out and many new ones enter the market. I too love my Kountry Star and also feel like you about the Newmar decision. However I do not see any truly new high end units being brought to market. The new Forest River Trilogy is a single floorplan that purports to be high end but Forest River is not offering it with disc-brakes or independent suspension and the unit at my local show did not have dual-pane windows all items which I support is a requirement to be truly considered a high end unit at 18K GVWR. Which now leaves only NH, NUWA, and DRV as what I would consider high-end manufacturers. Back to Newmar I may have to find a pre-loved Kountry Aire or consider a couple NOS Kountry Aire's in locations and floorplan's that I'm not partial to.

RE: Newmar Fifth Wheels

I am getting closer and closer to making a decision on a new retirement 5ver and am very sad to read this announcement. Not surprised but saddened. I too believe that there was a conscious decision somewhere in their marketing department to slowly kill off the fifthwheel business. Uniquely engineered yet simplistic rugged slideout systems and well built unit's pre-2007. I too agree things got pretty dodge about 2007, but thought the latest Kountry Aire's had promise with a little more money spent on engineering for 21st century features and options and a concerted effort to market the brand. But alas it appears the bean counters had other ideas. I wonder if their management team reads these forums.

RE: help needed on first purchase

OK, ready to take the first big leap, and I dont know a lot about fifth wheels having never bought one, I know I need a rear kitchen, do not need a fireplace, and somewhere between 27-31ft,for just my wife and I, I have looked and priced several, please give me a little input on best brands, models , maybe even best place to go look for purchase, thanks kld Welcome to RV.net Good hunting lookinf for your first fiver. My FIL and my DW's cousins both have had rear kitchen models. In both instances they had leak issues at the rear cap to roof joint with different manufacturers. In both instances they felt that heavy loading for long-term snowbirding caused excessive bounce and jarring with the rear kitchen floorplan contributing to the leaks. On one particularily rough interstate my FIL's kitchen sink pop right up and out of the coutner top From my personal experience going cmaping with these folks no one seemed to be able to view the televisions straight on in these floorplans with either turning reclivers 45 degrees or turn their heads 45 degrees. Also whoever got the sofa had to sit lengthwise on the sofa to aviod turning thier head and neck. Also if someone was cooking in the kitchen they had ot look over their shoulder to talk to anyone else sitting in the trialer or to look at the television. You choice, but I won't have a rear kitchen model ever. Personal preference I know as many people swear by the rear kitchen floorplans as swear at them. Just hopefully giving you some things to think about.

RE: Dually or Single Rear Wheel for towing

Well from first hand experience pulling the trailer in my sig which has about 3100 - 3200 lbs pin weight ready to travel with a F350 SRW and now a F350 DRW I can tell you the stability and confidence making quick lane changes is so much better with the DRW. And yes you get more physical exercise with the DRW as you can't park as close to stores and to major event parking lots with the DRW as you can a SRW, but for us who tows long distances the extra hassle of the size is worth it. Our truck is my wife's daily driver and using her mirror's she has gotten very proficient backing into parking places at her office which is quite a confined parking lot.
