RE: Baby safety gate for 5th wheel door

Bought one of those door safety chains (the kind that allows the residential door to be opened an inch or so) and installed it above the screen door slider similar to the sliding latch. Placed the "female" side on the door jamb vertically so the little one would have amore difficult time sliding it up instead of sideways. By allowing the screen door to open up a little before stopping we know that the chain is installed. Visitors not knowing about the slider may encourage them to use a little more english on their pull and perhaps damaging the door. Just a thought. Doug

RE: What kind of neighbors did you have this Memorial Day Weekend

No crappy neighbors, but one entertaining but tragic neighbor. He backs his Cougar fifth wheel into his campspot. Wife stops him with the rear of the fw even with the concrete stopping block (rather than overhanging it. He unhooks, lowers his rear stabilizers, unloads the truck, puts the slide and awning out, only to then realize the front of his FW is encroaching on the roadway. Our unfortunate camper drives to the check in booth, receives a new campspot and proceeds to pack everything up, raises the rear stabilizers high enough to stay off of the road (you can see where this is going) and moves three spaces away to a marginally longer spot. Wife backs him in and this time decides to let the rear of the FW hang over the concrete stopper. A terrific crash as one of the stabilizers is ripped off of the frame and the other is bent forward quite a ways. After some cussing, said camper gets his rig set up. He uses a mallet and straightens (as best he can) one of the stabilizers, and uses a floor jack in place of the other. He is not done yet. He unhooks the FW and unplugs the umbilical from the pick-up bed. He decides not to pull forward cautiously, but checks to see how much of his frustration he can put through the gas pedal. As luck goes, the umbilical catches on something in the bed of the pick-up and viola' the FW is now without said cord. I pity the man.
