RE: Truck Tire Suggestions

I must have a lead foot because the OEM Michelins M/S tire only lasted 40,000. Had Nitto Terra Grapplers, 20,000. Nitto Dura Grapplers, 30,000. I have Cooper Discoverer AT/3 with 10,000 and still look good. I hated the Michelins as the wet grip sucked and snow grip was terrible, I slid into a tree driving in the snow. So far I'm happy with the current tires, they work good in mud and in snow, hopefully these last plus they have a 55,000 mile tread wear warranty.

RE: Coral Pink Sand Dunes for Easter

Hey Bad Brad we won't be making it out there this year but wish we could, have fun. We did head south out of the Dunes to the dinosaur tracks with our quads and that was a blast. It looks like there are all kinds of trails on the other side of the road south of the dune complex.

RE: What kind of boat could I fit inside my toyhauler?

I carry a 12' aluminum boat with no trailer. It is light enough that I can carry it and it fits 3 adults. I use an electric trolling motor most of the places I go and just got a 5hp gas engine that I'm going to try out next week.

RE: Good Sam Road Side Assistance

I just switched over from having AAA since I was 16. Good Sam is the best value and coverage when you compare the two.

RE: Anyone ever made they're own Fuel Tank ??

I made one for my old one lunger Fairbanks engine, it was about 2 gallons. I had a metal supplier cut and bend 2 sheets of lightweight metal then I simply welded them together and added flat stock across the bottom to attatch it. I used the correct size pipe fittings for the fuel line and filler.

RE: Garage Model vs Open Floorplan

We had a garage which was fine but we switched to an open hauler which we like even better. Just weigh the pros and cons of what you ultimately need it for and how you are going to use to decide. I would probably have at least 3 different trailers if I could afford it.

RE: Gulfstream Enduramax

I have a 2009 Enduramax that has been great. We bought it new in 2010 as a leftover from the financial crash and got a great deal. It is really well built and top quality. I had an XLR before this that was fine but the Enduramax is definetly built better. I don't like making too many positive reviews because if someone has troubles I would feel bad about it. The warranty and manufacturer was fine, in fact there were no dealers selling these out here so they let us pick from some authorized repair facilities for some minor work.

Am I missing something or not? The 4 seater has AWD but I think the 2 seater is only 2WD?

RE: Jaw Bone Ca. water/dump location

As of 3 weeks ago the dump at Ricardo is still closed. They charge a fee to fill the water but I did not notice where the fill up was. They have faucets around the campground. We stayed there one night and could not believe what a rip off it was. $25 a night plus $6 each additional vehicle which worked out to $37 total because we had 2 quads. I also ripped a 7" gash on my truck tire on some rebar sticking out of broken curbing along a campsite that I got to close to.

RE: Which Dexter Kit to order

Update on Dexter kit. We finished up a week long trip 2 weeks ago over to the eastern Sierras and back to the central valley. What a difference this upgrade makes. Travelling up 99 the road is pretty bad and this thing was night and day different than in times past. Just wish I would have upgraded a long time ago.

RE: Which Dexter Kit to order

I installed mine yesterday. I'm glad I didn't wait any longer. Half of the nylon bushings were worn through and some of the links had the bolts spinning so it was a matter of time before more of the links broke. I only pulled it a couple of miles afterwards but it seems much better. Even backing in where I park it I crank it pretty tight, the old setup the tires were rolling and moving alot, now it seems to be hardly any deflection. I did not check the zerks as I was afraid if they were press in I might mess it up. I'm taking a trip in a couple of weeks and can't wait to try it out.

RE: Do you haul non-motorized toys?

Bikes, kayaks, aluminum boat. I even haul my friend's and family's stuff sometimes since we "have more room". So watch out you might be hauling more than you want.:)

RE: Which Dexter Kit to order

I just bought the 35" complete kit yesterday. I can't believe the how much bigger the links are than the crappy stockers. I had one pull apart and decided to do it all while it's apart. Hopefully I can get them on tomorrow. Like jjj said all you have to do is measure the equalizer.

RE: any frame warranties out there longer than 1 year???

You might want to check the fine print om your extended warranty. With our last fifth wheel we bought the extended warranty. When we were selling it I looked at the fine print and it said frame not covered.

RE: Black Tank - Fail

I just had a similar issue with my grey tank. We had foamy water running out of the underbelly. I pulled off the underbelly and found about a 3/4" crack halfway up the side. I just got through pulling it out, patching it with a hot glue gun and reinstalling it. Quite a bit of work to do one of these. So far the hot glue is holding fine, only time will tell.

RE: Fuzion water tank supports.

On the XLR I used to have the tank fell out of it. I was able to use 2"X6" wood beams that rested on the lower part of the I Beam frame from side to side. I used 6 of them and never had a problem after that.

RE: Gulfstream Enduramax

Mine is an '09 and is definately built as good or better than the others. Customer service has been very good. We had a few minor issues but were fixed fast. We looked at all of them out there and I look at all of the details including crawling underneath and looking in any accessable spot. You can learn a lot about how well something is built by close inspections. Ours is built solid and the fit and finish is great. I have heard of issues in the earlier stuff but I believe they made major changes starting in '08.

RE: How to remove ramp door

I got some Brass flanged bushings that were the same inside and outside diameter as the plastic ones but a little shorter. They were only $.65 each. I used schedule 40 electical plastic conduit for the spacers. The hinges that bolt to the door had grease zerts but the frame hinges did not so I installed some on the hinges. I assembled it together on the door while the door was being held in place with the locks. It sure works a lot better now without the rusted hinge pin. As far as how to take a door off and put it back on the best way is to probably unbolt the hinges at the frame while the locks are holding the door in place. Same as putting it back on, just lift into place and secure with the locks until it is bolted back on. There is little tension from the springs when the door is up and a couple of guys can lift the door down or up.
