RE: Diesel pusher...insurance and registration cost in Wi

Insurance will vary depending on company, coverage, whether fulltimer or not etc. Registration is 106.50. If over 26,000 lbs it is 119.50. Our 2004 Allegro Bus is in the 106.50 category.

RE: RV Service Tech

I am planning on doing just that this coming Jan-Mar. While in FL this past winter, my brother toured the school I plan to go to and he thought it would be a good one. I am not that far from you, actually was by there a couple weeks ago going to camping world in Rogers. PM me if you want to chat about it.

RE: Equalizing batteries

I spent 15 yrs as an ind trk (forklift and tow tractor) tech and my job included servicing all sizes of electric vehicle batteries. From 48 volt forklift and tow tractor batteries to 6 volt burden carrier (golf cart with a flatbed) batteries. The data plate on the chargers stated "equalize daily". The newer chargers were programmed to equalize every 5th time automatically. We did the manual ones once a week.

RE: Flat towing a ford Explorer 4x4 W/ auto Trans

Oh, I need to add, we purchased the kits through the dealer but as stated are no longer available there unless they get it from the new supplier and of course add their markup!

Sorry for the delay in answering, been away from the computer. Yes it works, but is not cheap and as I now believe, not necessary. The LED and reprogramming is all you need, or if a V8, the switch also. The procedure for reprogramming is available to Ford techs at the dealers. I got it when I worked at Ford's Twin Cities Assembly Plant as an industrial truck repairman.

RE: Towing a Toad with Overdrive On?

The issue with any engine/transmission combo is hunting (continually shifting between gears because one is too high to pull and the other is low enough it keeps trying the next one up). the slippage as it shifts creates heat which is the death of any transmission. If it doesn't hunt it will be fine whatever you do. However, having said that, your best course of action is to read the owners manual and follow what the mfgr. says!

RE: Residential Frig changeover

We changed ours for a Samsung and plugged the gas line and used the RV fridges 120v recep., works great. Wife will never have an RV one again. It is a French door 18 cu. ft. model. We use a velcro strap around fridge doors and a snap on strap for the freezer. We may rewire so recep. is fed by the inverter. The tag says max amp draw is 3.9 so it doesn't take much.

RE: Water Capacity

Premixing is the simplest way but, if you don't want to do that or don't have a container to mix in, pour in a gallon of antifreeze then a gallon of water, a gallon of antifreeze then one of water. Continue until it's full and you will always have at least a 50/50 mixture in the system.

RE: Flat towing a ford Explorer 4x4 W/ auto Trans

Loren is correct. We have towed an 02 and are now towing our second 05. My brother towed an 03 and now an 06. They have to be 4x4 (control trac) and not all wheel drive. Prior to 02 all V8s were AWD, from 02 on, V6 and V8 could be gotten either way. One other thing, we have a Roadmaster Sterling and my brother has a Blue Ox. Both work great but he had to remove the air dam etc to install his brackets and I removed only 2 plastic fillers held in by 2 push pins each, where the brackets go. Took him a few hours which was about what the dealer said it would be. Took me less than half an hour, again in line with the dealer's estimate.

RE: Dual pane windows

Two completely different things. R value is a measure of heat transmission. An open window or any leak is air infiltration.
