RE: Clean Handles?

Agree on the LA's Totally Awesome - the yellow color one. Directions say to dilute per whatever they suggest, but DH doesn't read directions and used it full strength on the bunkend handles and they looked like new.

RE: Fridge

Oh, Chuck.....it's that little blue thing that I still can't figure out how to use. You didn't get one?? Not to worry, just open the door, close the slide and the slide works nicely to hold the frig door open. I hate simple gadgets that everyone can figure out except me! But, in answer to the OP, leave the door open. If you have frost in your freezer, add a layer of several paper towels to absorb when it thaws.

RE: A "not real" camping night tonight.....and tomorrow.....and

We have carpet! I LOVE our new carpet. Problem now is that we're still whipped from moving stuff here and there and all the repairs DH did to the floor, so it's back to the ROO tonight. Still have some odds and ends to do before the furniture actually starts heading back into the bedroom, but feel like there may be an end to this insanity. Gotta love having the ROO just a few steps from the door. Foxy is having a good time, too.

RE: FORGET SOMETHING ?

I don't forget anything! I make lists.....really, I do. That way I don't forget anything...unless I forget where I put the list.

RE: A "not real" camping night tonight.....and tomorrow.....and

Yep, that water line under my vanity was the culprit. I was gone for only a couple of hours and DH was "working" on his RC airplanes in the garage. When I got home water was just starting to run from the house into the garage but it was behind him, so Lord knows how long it would have run before it got to where he could see it. With our insurance deductible and DH being Mr. DIY, we came out way money ahead, but we're just too darned old for this stuff. One thing this confirmed.....we will NEVER move from this house. Why are we taking twice as long (or longer) to accomplish 1/2 as much as we did when we moved here??? Never mind, I know the answer.

A "not real" camping night tonight.....and tomorrow.....and

Tonight is Camp ROOport. Not the regular camping in the ROOport night. We have moved everything out of our bedroom post-flood and getting ready for new carpet on Tuesday. It would be really nice to sit out by the firepit and enjoy a glass or two, but we're just too darned whipped to do anything but crash. We've worked for 2 weeks+ getting this mess cleaned up, washed up, stuff replaced, walls washed, nasty wet carpet hauled out, shoved stuff here and there and we still aren't ready for Tuesday. Not only will you not find any furniture in our bedroom, you can't walk through the dining room because the bed is in there - standing on end. Don't try to navigate the hallway because the dressers, etc are lining the wall and it's a hazard. Needed to get a couple of things from the attic this afternoon - too late, can't pull the stairs down with the dressers in the hallway. Gonna be ditto for tomorrow night and probably the next night and maybe the next. THIS IS NOT CAMPING! But, it is an excellent way to avoid sleeping on the futon in my sewing room.

RE: Tyvek cover for 23ss

When we ordered our Adco from Camping World, I just told them what make and model and they knew what we needed. Don't have the number at hand, but if you find that they can't help you, PM me and I'll find it for you.

Enjoy! Nice you're able to bring her dad along. Feel sure he's appreciative, too.

RE: ROOF VENT SCREEN REPLACEMENT ?

This would certainly not be the most decorative touch, but could you just rescreen the area as is - surely Lowe's or HD should have the supplies you need. That would take care of the bug issue. Then find something like a hardware cloth or something similar and install slightly above it for kitty and its poundage to lay on?? You would need to add something to support this second layer so it's not touching the screen. Don't even know if there is clearance for something like this second layer but obviously the screen alone is not sturdy enough. Just an idea.

RE: Please don't fuss....I did search

Thanks for the day-brightener, rockhill. Highly recommend folks steer clear of our house until we get this "spell" removed. In the last 2+ weeks, we've had a pipe break and flood our bedroom and bath, the TV fiasco, a sick pooch, one very expensive hearing aid that isn't, and I'm sure there are a couple more little annoyances, but can't remember - or maybe trying to forget. Actually, I do appreciate the heads-up on the converter. I will mention it to DH - know he'll be appreciative. Oh!, one of the other things was that the plug on the HTT power cord went south during a downpour over the weekend and DH had to fix it by lantern-light. He enjoyed that a lot! Things look so trashed around here right now that I actually hated for our "bug man" to come in to spray this morning.

RE: How Long Do Your Tires Last?

Our understanding is that the rule of thumb is about 4 - 5 years, unless you see anything undesirable earlier. My Dear Cousin and hubby just replaced theirs and one place they shopped said it's "now recommended" that you change every 3 years. He felt like that was their way of being sure to see him back sooner than later - fooled that place, they bought somewhere else. Our OEM tires lasted 4+ years, but with a planned several hundred mile trip, we replaced. Our OEM were Greenball Transmasters and served us well, so we replaced with the same. Believe we're at season 3 now so we have a while left. DH is careful with the tire pressure and rotating. And, yes, we do have them balanced also.

RE: Finally, we're going camping!!!

We did have a great weekend, although TWC missed by a smidge. Thursday afternoon/evening was just perfect. Campfire, my "famous" Boat Shrimp, a bit of Jack, some wine.....just wonderful. Friday, pretty much ditto. Saturday DS reported that TWC was saying heavy rains and TS. We debated head home/don't head home. Finally decided to stay put and not much to get excited about until early evening. We had one of those days when you don't do much of anything, a no shower/no make-up kind of day. Our DFs stopped by for a glass or two - like they had any doubt that there was a drop or two onboard. Rained all night Saturday, but fine with us....rinsed off the bunkends. Came home Sunday and feel very ready to head back soon. Just a nice, relaxing weekend + I whipped DH at Scrabble....always a good thing. Remaining functional brain cells seem to be regenerating. Life is good.

RE: Please don't fuss....I did search

I have no freakin' idea what these bulbs are at this point.....maybe we'll just use candles, ok. We do know that our light source is getting dimmer each trip, so we have to do something. Guess at this point, possibly looking in the ton of manuals we have might yield some info. How darned hard should it be to buy some lightbulbs????? As best our old eyes can tell, there is no number or anything resembling a number on the bulbs. After some discussion on our part, it seems that we prefer the bulbs shaped similar to the OEM rather than the flat type. I think. This little project has turned into a real PITA! So after dinner I'm going to go out and check manuals, check for labels inside the fixtures themselves and try so make some sense of this. Sheesh!!!! I did find a vendor on E-bay that had a couple that looked interesting - 1 was about $5 ea with 100+ lumens....that doesn't seem like enough. The other one he has - and is out of stock right now - is just under $10 and is 400+ lumens. I'm inclined to think the $10 is the way to go, but the number-cruncher in me is having dire pain x 16 bulbs. Think we may order the more critical ones - maybe 4 or 6 and see from there. On the other hand........ why is it that simple things are so blasted difficult. I have spent way more time than I should have just looking for our OEM fixture to see what the specs are and can't even find that. GRRRR! OK, I'm done with my fit. Maybe. Do appreciate all the help and suggetions in getting this on track. Tried to find some bulbs for our home fixtures - same deal.....they're making me nuts!! Also had to buy a new TV this week due to a transformer blowing in the area.....now, THAT'S a lot of fun! Plasma, LED, LCD, what size?, internet capable or not, additional sound system or not???, which cable - there are a zillion, which wallmount bracket??. I wanted to buy a plain old AM-FM radio to listen to the dad-blasted ballgame. Do you think there is such a creature? NO! At least not that I've found. I don't want to download anything or hook it up via Lord knows which cable to do something I don't want.....I just want to listen to the game. UGH!!!!! Thanks, I feel better now. Hugs to you all.

RE: Please don't fuss....I did search

How many lumens do you recommend. That was one of our glitches. We have no idea where to begin. The bulbs we're replacing are the little sorta flat with 2 prongs. Thx.

Please don't fuss....I did search

We are looking at making the change from our current bulbs in the ROO to the WARM WHITE LED. After looking, talking, reading, we're more confused than we were to start with. Have found that not all LED bulbs are equal. It absolutely has to be the warm white - not the bluish color. Am I right that we can just change the bulbs in our ROO and not have to change the fixtures, too?? So....I've looked at light bulbs online until I can't see straight. What size are you happy with - don't want to light up a ballfield, but do want decent light. We have 8 fixtures = 16 bulbs. Not interested in paying $15 a bulb, either. Help!! Where did you buy from?? What size?? Price?? Were you satisfied with the dealer/vendor?? What else do we need to know. Also, a couple of the plastic lens covers on our fixtures are getting brownish spots from the current bulbs being hot. Can you get new lens and where??

RE: sportsman space blankets...

We have the PUGs. Ours have the silver on one side and blue on the other. We have always done the silver in the summer and blue in the cooler temps. However, Bob, the PUG company owner, says it makes no difference at all. Go figure. We thought our logic was sound, but I'd bet he knows. That said, the silver side is still going up during the summer just to satisfy us. And, yes, they do make a huge difference. Think you'll be pleased with your blankets.

RE: Before I totally lose hope (re: weights explanations?)

Sounds like you've got information overload. Sit. Take a deep breath. The reason it sounds so confusing is that you've just had a ton of it re various trailers and various tow vehicles. First.....never believe a salesman. They will tell you anything they think you want to hear to get their product hooked up and off their lot - then it's your problem. You're smart to do your homework first rather than after you've signed on the dotted line. If I'm getting this straight, your DH doesn't want to upgrade to a less economical vehicle than you have now. Have you actually sat down and calculated your average mileage per...whatever - week, month, year?? And now you're getting "x" number of MPG at whatever your local average price per gallon is. The other tow vehicle you're thinking about.....do the same thing and subtract the difference. It may be lots less than you're thinking. This time last year we were planning an extended trip and I was totally freaking out over the rising gas prices. By the time many on this forum and Hybrid Explorer calmed me down, I was actually flipping over maybe, maybe $200 or less for the entire trip. Didn't sound nearly so catastrophic. So, first figure your mileage, etc. Does your DH actually WANT a HTT other than the fuel economy issue?? If he just flat doesn't want to make this change, I'd say you're beating your head against a wall. Likely not gonna happen. If he does want to upgrade, then really crunch the numbers. Do you like to camp fairly close to home or is a 6 - 8 hour drive each way your thing for a weekend?? How often to you camp?? Suggest you take a look at some campgrounds in a reasonable distance - in our case that is 100 miles or so from home - and decide how often and how much it's going to cost. It's a real bummer, but in probably 95% or better of those of us on this forum, have not got a money tree in the yard. As far as the weight issues, my knowledge is all in a thimble. Others are far more knowledgable and I would trust what they suggest. Safety is #1 - even over $$. We have an '07 ROO 23SS. There are 2 of us most of the time. We have a lot of stuff packed away - we do love to camp "nicely". Our ROO without any of the water, grey or black tanks full weighs exactly 5000#. That does include the propane tanks filled. Our tow vehicle is an '03 F-150 Crew Cab. All our stuff - firewood, chairs, rug, small grill, etc go in the bed of the truck. Our truck is rated with the factory tow package at 8000#. We've never had problems and feel very safe within those numbers. IMHO, you and DH need to sit down with pencil and paper and do some more in depth figuring and have a real heart to heart about this. Unless you can both be on the same page, no one is going to be happy. Hope it works out for you.

RE: Off topic but kind of not off topic

Ok, Sarah.....you should be home some time this afternoon.....where's the report??? I'm betting you're still together, he found that camping with the right person is really fun, getting dirty is not the end of the world and that the kids had a great time with the g'parents. Right?? We, the "old folks" had a terrific time even with the rain that blew through and thought about you and your potential "important person" - if wishes helped, you've had a great weekend.
