Flexsteel sleeper sofa comfort?

I am in the process of changing out my air over coil mattress on my pull out sleeper sofa as I find it's a big hassle to make up every night. I was wondering , for those that have a flexsteel coil spring mattress, if it is comfortable or not. I called flexsteel and they said I could buy a coil only mattress to replace my air over coil. My other option is to go with a memory foam over a base foam mattress replacement made for sleeper sofas. The foam replacements sound pretty good in the literature but I have no way of trying one.

amicalola falls state park georgia, OK for RV?

I was thinking of heading to amicalola falls in Georgia. I hear there is a 25% grade going into it. Is it good for camping in a motorhome and is the entrance with that steep of a grade a problem? I called the lodge and the man that answered the phone said that there have been some blowouts on some trucks going up it. I guess it's about a mile of grade..

RE: Help going from New york to Glacier NP ( and kalispell )

Ok got it. Streets and Trips labeled the road going to the Rushmore site as 16A and the road west from 79 as 16 with an alt above it and 87 .My other mapping software labels it as 16/16A for both lol and So I make sure I don't take the 16A east then toward Rushmore.

RE: Help going from New york to Glacier NP ( and kalispell )

Great info so far thanks. I don't mind the tolls if they save time. Is the GTS road as bad as Mt Washington auto road? I was able to do that one even though I'm not the best with heights. I have been tossing around the idea of Yellowstone also but that all depends on how time goes. I will have to wing the campgrounds as I usually do and hope for the best as I don't make reservations. I never know when I get someplace. Looking at the nps site they show when the apgar etc.. campgrounds were full, and it seems I have a pretty good chance of getting a spot. Hermosa to 36 and 16A I have a low clearance on my map? near where 244 intersects? It says 12' 4" and I am 12' 10" so maybe that is a problem so I will have to come in by 16 I guess. I miss the lower height of my old rig, I never understand why I need 7 foot ceilings .. to me just more space to cool or heat and more exterior height ....

Help going from New york to Glacier NP ( and kalispell )

Must go through Sioux Falls SD and have to go to Kalispell MT .. We will visit cousins in both those places and I want to see Glacier when I am there. I have a gas rig ( 33 feet ) will I run into many steep grades out that way? Streets and Trips has me going 80 to 90 and then 3, 12 at billings and up to kalispell? I may run into traffic I imagine around chicago. What is the best way up to 90? After that I am pretty good up to the point where I approach Montana on 90. Do I take 87? or 15? to 2 and west to kalispell or do I head as far on 90 as I can and go up 83 to Kalispell? Souix Falls will be a short stop .. our ancestors migrated out through there and up to Montana so we wanted to see a few things there but that could be a stop on the way and not necessarily a stop over. Kalispell (Flathead lake and area) is where our relatives are, so we will visit them. Any campground suggestions would be appreciated. I so far have planned stops at: Mt Rushmore Deadwood I would like to check out. Do I do those two from a base campground or will I have to move? Devils tower Is there any other must see in this area? I am also trying to figure out how long to stay.. I would guess 2 nights in both Rushmore area and the tower area or is there alot more to do in Rapid City/Black hills? and how many days do you think? I am not going to Yellowstone.Save that for Another year. I have only 5 or six weeks to do this. It is probably very crowded anyway now. I would think another trip with Yellowstone and Grand Canyon would be better. More time to spend and I think I have enough to see on the way to GNP and back :) I found a RV friendly campground called Fish Creek.. is that a good base? I know it's primitive but that is ok. Am I better off driving my toad up the going to the sun road or taking the red bus? I know alot of questions but it's my first time out that way.

RE: V10 intermittent loss of power

They are sending it back to me. They can't find what the cause is. Said it may have resolved itself... Tech took a test ride yesterday and id didn't recur again since his first drive. They weren't getting any dtc's and he said they can't throw parts at it. So I hope it doesn't conk out on me when I need it..... Got it back, the assistant service manager gave me a written paragraph stating that they initially had a power loss and then they couldn't find codes so nothing was done. But he would not sign it. He went on about how they don't throw parts at something like a backyard mechanic. They fix things right.. My question is , if they fix things right, why do I have a MH back from them after they had it a week and nothing was done? I asked him if they checked the grounds .. he said yes, asked about the fuel filter and he said the pressure was fine.. I asked how bout under load.. he said the tech drove around and monitored the codes and nothing came up.

RE: down east Maine

Was the old vet ( wwII )still at the desk at sunset point? Good guy. Very nice place .. can't say too much for Uncle Kippys restaurant except it takes forever to get service even if there are only 2 other people in the place O_O I went there the first time I was at lubec and the second I camped over on the island. Very nice cg on the canadian side. Biggest problem is the border guards coming back into the US, they need a sense of humor and less of a power trip. There is a fantastic seafood place up the road from Campobello.

RE: Trying to decide how much Pitch for concrete pad?

I've got poly on top and I keep it wet under the poly by spraying under it with the hose every day :) Seems to be working well.

RE: V10 intermittent loss of power

As much as I hate to drop a vehicle off with a dealership I figured I better. Due to costs of throwing things at it I will let them try. I couldn't find anything out of sorts connection wise. It is new with 1500 miles lol. Dealer still has is and has no clue yet. They said they are waiting for a call back from ford hotline. They have had it 6 days now.

RE: Trying to decide how much Pitch for concrete pad?

Turns out I use to work with the contractors father who is still laying block at age 70. Three guys, the kid, and a father son team did the pour today. I worked with alot of the construction firms they have done work with over the years. It's a small world. added 1 percent accelerator , poured at 10:30 , set up at around 12 noon finished and broomed and they were gone by 1. They poured it stiff and earned their money :) Accelerator added as we weren't sure if it would thunder shower or not. I got some plastic over it now but I think it is fine. All my worries about how good the contractor would be turned out to be nothing at all. But you never know and this was the first RV pad I have had done ( first they did too ) so thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions.. makes life easier to get good ideas from those who have done it before :)

RE: Trying to decide how much Pitch for concrete pad?

pad is poured. Had to do a 3 inch drop over the 30 feet due to problems with the existing driveway grade... as it is I have to get the paver to ramp up 10 inches to edge of slab. Won't be able to back on it until I get some process to build a ramp. Paving is not for a couple of weeks. Ended up with 6 yards for a 30 by 10, lowest spot is maybe 5.75 inches in the very back and deeper to the front where is it 10 inches thick.. fiber 4000 psi..so should be ok also 10 inch deep at edge and a foot wide with the extra depth where the rear wheels will go.

RE: V10 intermittent loss of power

The dealership ( ford truck dealer/service center ) said they are not getting codes and have no clue where it's coming from If I fixed it I would try throwing a tps and fuel pump at it ... when the tps went bad on my van it didn't throw a code until a complete failure and the dealer wouldn't touch it until then. They just don't make mechanics like they use to. I didn't get any codes on my tool either. I told that to the service manager and he said throw those code scanners out you might erase the codes... they think all people who bring vehicles in are dumb....

RE: V10 intermittent loss of power

Latest update.. the tech was able to verify an intermittent problem but it is not throwing a code. He said the tech is contacting ford for help with the matter ....... "trying to figure it out" Guy said usually it's something to do with the throttle sensor when customers have these types of issues with the v10's.

RE: Trying to decide how much Pitch for concrete pad?

Garage is not heated per say, just stays maybe in the 30 to 40 deg range in winter from radiant heat off the interior wall that seperates it from the house. Pour is tomorrow at 9 and they are forming it up in the morning beforehand as it's raining hard here now. I took the opportunity to dig out a bit further and add some process past where the pad will go. The old timer that was here said the level front to back is the only way to go so that is what they are doing. One of the workers was saying it will be 9000 psi in a month or so? I will ask what psi concrete they are using,I am assuming it's higher than the 4k I thought I was getting?

RE: Trying to decide how much Pitch for concrete pad?

Thanks. My old asphalt that was there before was all wavy and used to have puddles and they would evaporate in a day or two after rain. I think the motorhome sits with a forward pitch to it so I was worried about that added to the 1/4 inch pitch forward would be too much. I want to be able to back in and be fairly level so I don't have to use the jacks. Except for this crazy weather this year we don't really get that much rain usually.

Trying to decide how much Pitch for concrete pad?

Asphalt drive ripped up now and I am pouring a pad for the MH and then the paver will come and pave and ramp up to the pad. Pad will be 10'2" from foundation to grass, and 30 feet from back to front. 20 feet of the pad will be next to the garage... 10 sticking out forward into the sloped driveway area ( about a bit over 2 feet of drop for 40 feet of driveway) so they will have to build up the front area a few inches Concrete guy wants to do a 1/4 inch per foot front ot back which would be approx a 4.75 inch drop over the MH's wheelbase. I an trying to decide if an 1/8 inch pitch front to back would be ok, I think the MH sits lower in front as is without the jacks. I want to be able to pull in and be fairly level without the jacks so I can use it for spare sleeping quarters and also leave the refrigerator on all the time. I am thinking I'd be better off giving it an inch pitch toward the grass over the 10 feet so the water will tend to flow into the grass. I had puddling before on the asphalt that was there before and it was no big deal as the puddles dried up in a couple days after rain. As long as I don't get a flow into the foundation I am happy.

RE: 1141 replacement led's .. cheapest? lowest draw?

I got a few with 18 smd 5050 warm white. Still has a slight bluish tinge... reminds me of a florescent light a bit. Not nearly as blue as the old led's I have which were really blue ( I think three or four years old ). I would prefer more yellow but not sure any are out there. My flashlight has a Cree R5 led which I like the light color better but not sure if that is cool white or what. Even three of the smd 5050 bulbs light up enough to read in the main living area of the rv.
