RE: I'm the squeaky wheel, and got the grease! :-)

I'll bet the ones complaining about higher insurance rates are the same ones that would cry foul when the body shop installs a made in Taiwan bumper or fender on their car. I for one am glad you stuck to your guns and had your truck repaired to suit you (since you are paying for the insurance and the truck....right ;))
I'm sure you didn't expect to get all this negative feedback from fellow RV net members. Thank you for posting, now I know we do have a say in how our cars are repaired if we find ourselves in your situation.

RE: I'm the squeaky wheel, and got the grease! :-)

those parts in the junkyard came from china too. your american car could not run without china parts. one time had a dodge truck tag said made in mexico.
Not a true statement....do your research!
Some cars and trucks are assembled in Mexico because of cheap labor but they are not using China/Taiwan sheet metal. Most (good)insurance adjusters and (good) body shops will steer you away from the cheap "made in china" stuff because it takes longer to install and will not hold up if you are involved in another accident.

RE: I'm the squeaky wheel, and got the grease! :-)

I prefer the junkyard/used parts over the cheap imported from China sheet metal, lights, etc. But my cars and trucks are all over 5 years old, if my car was one year old, I would insist on factory replacement parts. JMO;)
