RE: AF811 on srw 350

Like I said before, I don't know what years they were manufactured.
Perhaps they were special order???? I have found several pictures on the web with the same black, gold and red paint scheme in both long box and short box versions.
All I know is that I currently own a 2000 F350 Crew Cab Short Box Dual Rear Wheel 7.3L Turbocharged Diesel 4X4 Lariat LE pick up.
And if I am wrong about Ford manufacturing them prior to 05 then I certainly apologize for making all of the incorrect statements that I made.
Your correct...My 2000 was an LE dually as well. And the shortbox dually that was beside it on the lot when I bought it was an LE too,but they did make some non LE shortbox duallies as well in 2000 and 2001.I see them once in awhile up here in B.C. p.s. I loved and miss my 2000 7.3 LE.

RE: AF811 on srw 350

To my knowledge, Ford did not make any short bed dually pickups in model years '04 or earlier.
Ford did make a very very limited number of short bed duallys from around '05-'07.
Ford has not offered a short bed dually in '09-present, that I am aware of.
Dodge did not make a short bed dually until the Mega Cab trucks came out, some time in the mid-2000's. The Mega Cab is the only dually Dodge offers with the short bed.
GM made a few short bed duallys in the mid-90's. I don't know if they have made them since then or not.
Is there some reason why you must have a short bed dually?? Ford did make shortbed duallys before 04 but don't know the years they were manufactured.
We have a Artic Fox 811 shortbed camper, and felt that we needed/wanted the shortbed dually to haul it more comfortably.
Yep and my bad, Dodge mega cabs do have the 8 1/2' bed, I drove one the day we bought the Ford, and maybe would have even bought it if I could have afforded it. I do like the cummins. But I got a good price on the 2000 Ford and my mechanic said it was well worth it so that's the way I had to go.Please tell me what years you think they were made?
I know for a fact Ford did not make any duallys with factory pickup beds at all before 1980, they were cab/chassis trucks only, and did not make any short bed dually pickups at all from 1980 to 1997.
No information I have suggests that they made any short bed dually pickups from '99-'04 and I have not seen any either. They did make some in very limited numbers from '05-'07, that I am aware of. Finding one is like finding teeth on a hen though.
Dodge Mega Cabs do not have an 8-1/2' bed. They have a 6'3" bed. That is the only bed size Dodge offers with the Mega Cab as a factory pickup. The only long bed Mega Cabs in existence were specially modified (stretched) by custom truck upfitters, which is a very expensive job to have done, aside from any that were home built.
When I bought my old 2000 Ford dually the lot had a new dually Ford shortbox sitting beside it.It was also a 2000.I think they made them in 2001 also, but they are rare.

RE: Eagle Cap, How's the quality now ?

Well,I'm very happy to report that Fraserway RV came thru for me in a big way...Instead of a left over 2011 I will be the proud owner of a 2012 Eagle Cap 950 for a very fair deal..I have to say I like the 2012 more.It has some nice upgrades from previous years..
And thanks to everyone for their input.I never spoke to Greg directly, but my salesman did and he seems like a good asset to their company...I will post pics soon..

RE: Eagle Cap, How's the quality now ?

Well, so far I'm very happy how the dealer is dealing with this.I just finished talking with my salesman and it looks like they are going to upgrade me with a new 2012 model from the left over 2011 for very little more cash.Keep in mind I was getting a very good price on the leftover 2011.If this happens I will be a very happy camper...

Bigfoot affair,I love both Bigfoot and Northern Lite, but can't find a bigfoot dealership in the lower mainland of B.C.As for the Northern Lite, they were my first choice but the tanks are a little small for us.

Eagle Cap, How's the quality now ?

Hi,just wondering if there's anyone here that can let me know how the quality has been since they changed ownership.Put a deposit on a 2011 950 this morning. Then on second look noticed delamination on the side of it almost half the size of my hand. It's just above where the cabover meets the main side.Pretty sure this will be a deal breaker for me.Any info from owners would be appreciated. Not trying to knock the product here,as I really do like them.

That looks like a great engine (for the Camaro). It had ford a little worried so their putting a 650 hp motor in the Shelby Mustang for 2013.Love these hp wars...:)

RE: 2011 F350 6.7 Litre

How many pump failures have been reported so far ? Have heard of only two myself..Could it possibly be that these few trucks actually had bad fuel that caused this ? Just putting it out there...

RE: Truck to tow and daily driver

The weight fanatics sure are hitting this thread hard. Before they completely dismiss all half tons, they should research and realize just how capable the Ecoboost F 150 is with the HD payload package. Like ib516 said, ANY properly equipped half ton from any brand could tow the trailer mentioned by the OP with ease. And the Ecoboost will pull the mountains just as well ad the diesels. Research it and LEARN boys. Heck, my old, less powerful half ton has yanked my 30 foot and 6500 lb TT all over the Ozark hills for the last 5 years. No elevation to speak of, but plenty of steep grades. And today's half tons are MUCH more powerful, with stronger frames, higher GVWR, GAWR, GCWR, etc.
For the uses specified by the OP, they DO NOT NEED a 3/4 ton or larger. Only if they specifically plan to upgrade within a year or two, should a larger truck even be considered.
I agree 100%,love my diesel but the OP will be very happy with an F- 150 ecoboost HD.

RE: Thanks to fed. regs, say bye bye to the Ford Ranger

We have a newer ranger that we got to pull behind our motor home, makes a great dinghy because you can load the bed up with a small fishing boat, quad, firewood etc.I also have a new f-350 that sits beside it in the driveway. When I leave the house 90% of the time I jump in the Ranger because I find it a hoot to drive.Whoever said their short on power has never driven a newer one. This is one guy that will miss them when their gone.

RE: F250 vs F350 Short Bed Sizes

From our friends over at FordTruckEnthusiasts.com-
"Length of bed (measured from FRONT of bed rail to inside of tailgate)- 6.9'
Outside width of bed at rear stake pockets- 5.9'
Outside width of bed just behind front edge of bed- 6.27'
Inside width of bed at the tailgate- 5.3'
Inside width of bed at front of bed- 5.4'"
Pretty much all Ford tampered with as far as bed sizes was how deep it is.
fordsooperdooty has it right...Both my superduty short boxes were actually 6 foot 9 inches...And the long boxes measure out at 8 foot 2 inches.

RE: sumo springs

dadwolf2,thanks for your input.Going to look into the Stable loads.christopherglen, yes I'm sure a sway bar would make sense for sway.I'm really looking more for something to keep the rear from dropping too far,and maybe an added benefit would be sway control. Thanks guys for your input..Oh and I guess I should say it is a srw f-350.If I find a camper around the 3000lbs wet weight I'm sure I wont need much help,so maybe the stable loads will work.

Anyone using them ? How do you like them ? How are they compared to using air bags ? I dont have a sway bar on my 2011 f-350 so I'm thinking about getting them instead of air bags because the dealer says they help stop sway better. I'm looking at campers in the 3000 lbs wet range. Thanks guys..

RE: Ford F150 Ecoboost

Not sure about the F150 but in my Taurus SHO ecoboost 3.5 I got consistently better fuel mileage running 91 octane compared to 87.Couldn't tell a difference in performance but got about 10 to 12 % better fuel mileage.Basically paid for the difference in fuel price so I always buy 91.I realize the truck motor is probably tuned different so this might not apply.
