RE: LatestDiesel Fuel Cost

Here in "The Great White North" it's $4.71 per U.S. gallon. $100.00 worth gets you about 3/4 tank.:E

RE: Finally!

Congrats!!! Always nice to see another person not afraid to buy the big Ford. These are great trucks! If you don't delete you need regular oil changes and oil analysis to ensure your not "making oil" from the regen's. Deletes will also increase fuel mileage. Enjoy!!!!

RE: My 2006 F150, 5.4 4x4, expensive trip to the garage

I know the cost of these repairs hurts, but, IMHO all vehicles need repair at some point. I've stared down repairs of this size a few times myself, but really you had no other option. Sounds to me like you did the right thing to fix the problems properly. Should be good to go for awhile now and you have the security of knowing it won't let you down on the road with your family on board. That is priceless IMO!

RE: Suspension Upgrade Anyone?

WOW! Great job! Should ride alot better. Keep us posted. Nice looking truck too. This job only took one day? That would have taken me a week! Cheers.

Jayco Seismic

Does anyone out there know what's happening with this new TH? There seems to be nothing on Jayco's web site or surfing the net- no real pics, specs etc. I've been looking forward to some info etc. Thanks.

RE: Pressure Washing

I use mine in the winter only to remove the heavy stuff up here in the "Great White North". Have to be careful though as I'm sure mine would do damage if you used the wrong nozzle, pressure etc.:E

RE: Michelins.. ouch!

To the O.P. I too have a F450. These prices is why I replace 2 at a time! I replaced the fronts with the original equip. Continentals at $800.00 for both. That's up here in Canada where we pay premium for everything.:M

RE: K&N Air Intake

I think they're the best for K&N people! I do run them but I've never seen any improvement in power or fuel mileage. My dad and brothers use them and think they improve mileage greatly! My diesel guru thinks the're******and wants me to get rid of mine. Of course he wants to sell me his favorite!!!:E

RE: What Does your DRW Truck Weigh?

To the O.P. IMO that sounds about right. My F450 stock, with me (200lbs) and fuel weighs about 9000lbs. You had lots more fuel, passengers etc.

RE: preformance Chips

I run a H&S tuner on my 6.4L. It is truly plug and play except for 1 power wire. Can be removed, while keeping the tuned program intact. You could plug it in, install the new tune, remove it and drive untill you want to change it.I have been told you can go back to the original tune and the dealer can't tell it was changed, I've also been told they can tell and void the warranty. Don't know which is true. My truck is'nt covered by warranty any longer so not a problem for me anyhow's. Lots of extra power if you want it, 3 different power levels, I only need to use the first level as I find this is plenty for me. I believe the only way to improve on the gas mileage though is to do the delete's which I'm not sure I'd want to do on such a new vehicle. The H&S handles the deletes, and can remove the speed limiter as well. Mine is an 08, I think if my truck was an '11 I'd personnally wait untill warranty was up to do this. JMHO. Enjoy!

RE: Class 5 Ball Mount for 2012 Ford F-350 Dually

I have the same set up also. I bought the reducer at a reese hitch dealer as I have numerous 2" shanks from my previous truck. You could also just buy a tube from a metal supply and drill a hole, as this is all that it is. I'd like to buy the proper shanks though, just haven't taken the time to search this out, but have noticed that the stores/dealers don't have them on the shelf.

RE: Please sir..."how much fuel will my......?"

If the OP spent the winter in the maritimes I completely understand. They actually get a real winter there. If you live there you need a lot with a good winter view, as winter is soooo long you might as well have a good view of it! My F450 isn't good on fuel but I didn't buy it for fuel mileage!

RE: Apparently 3/4 ton pickups CAN tow anything

Whoa, there 250/2500 owners, joebedford was just making his observations on these trucks/trailer combos. He never mentioned his was better/stronger/faster/bigger etc. Just his daily observations of a roadtrip. That,s all. This forum seems to be taken over by 250\2500 owners who seem to have the need to justify their purchase of their trucks of choice. Can't we just all get along? Let,s just be safe out there.:C

RE: 2008 F450 Powerstroke 4x4 dually w/ 4:88 gears

I have the same truck. Fuel mileage on mine after it was tuned and deleted is 12mpg's empty and 10 hauling. These trucks are not good on fuel and anyone who can't stomach these numbers should buy something else. Also because of the 4:88 these trucks are governed at 81 mph, which is max RPM's anything faster and you risk engine damage. These trucks will pull just about anything but they do have some other limitations. I've owned mine for a year now and haven't had any problems yet. I think this truck is awesome! Also these trucks weigh about twice what my previous gasser half ton 4x4 weighed and it was not a heck of a lot better when pulling. JMHO.

RE: New to me F450

Your RPM's at 65 mph will be 2500-2600. My truck knocks back 11 mpg's (U.S. gal) at this speed/rpm running empty. Although, you can drive faster or slower and the mileage never seems to change. Drops somewhat when pulling.

RE: New to me F450

I have a '08 F450 4:88 gear set with 42,000 trouble free miles. Yes it is thirsty. I have tuned and deleted it and it performs awesome! The fuel is a bit of a disapointment but it is not much worse than my old half ton when pulling. I love this truck and am hoping for a long term relationship. We have to remember these trucks weigh about twice what a half ton 4x4 weighs and if folks are that worried about fuel economy maybe they should just buy a prius instead!FWIW, I'd like to add that if I was to do it over again, I probably would not buy this truck as I wasn't aware of all of the "Ford" problems with these trucks. That being said,no other manufacturer produces this size truck with this towing capacity, in this price range, so if you want this much towing capacity in a factory built pick-up this is the only truck to buy. Otherwise you need to move up to a MDT -Freightliner or International- of course the price is doubled!

RE: Got the new Transfer Flow tank installed today.

My '08 super duty (F450) has the large filler neck and I can fill at transport pumps no problem. Although I only fill on the slowest setting as I am cautious of spills, don,t want to have diesel on the paint. It is still quite fast though!
