RE: what is a...

I don't know about the newer trucks, but I am not aware of any truck equipped with a transmission temp gauge from the factory. My truck is a '96 Dodge, and I installed aftermarket gauges. My point is, without a gauge, how do you know if you do or do not need more cooling for the transmission?
I have a temp gauge in the pan, and a second gauge after the fluid leaves the transmission. Very different temp readings. I have had this truck for about 11 years, with a 4000 pound TC. It does get hot in the summer, pulling long hills, but the factory cooling has done the job.

My 2004 F250 CC V10 has a factory Tranny Temp Gauge.

RE: Tires

When I was shopping for tires for my truck the one of the tire shops had a really good deal on 4 tires and they included free nitrogen....Problem I had was it was an hour drive to the shop and the closest place to where I live was a 20 mile drive. It got me thinking in my travels I seldom have seen anyone have nitrogen available but I could find free air eveywhere. So although it was a good deal I passed. Just something to think about.

Just a thought I use silverstar headlights and they now have silverstar ultra which are brighter and my local autozone says they can get even a newer silverstar which is even brighter than the others...that may help some.

RE: Truck Caps - Pros and Cons

This is my second truck (now a F250) When I first bought it (used) it didnt have a cap...I bought a Leer and I am very happy with it. I have the windoors the side windows flip open makes it easy to access the front part of the bed from the outside.Had these on my last truck. Also had panit color matched to the truck (it's a 2004) and it looks great. Price wise in my area Leer was what worked out best for me.I had looked at LEER, Century, ARE and although all seemed similar but just really was happy with the LEER I had on my old truck so I went with LEER again. Good Luck.

RE: vanilla from Mexico

Hi I'm not sure as I have bought mine from a mexican market in San Antonio TX all we can get now is the dark vanilla. We use to be able to buy the clear but can't anymore and was told the merchants down there cant even bring the clear into the usa anymore. Good Luck. I still have a fifth of vanilla so it will be while before I get some but I'll go back to SA when I need some. It's good stuff.

RE: Is this covered under warranty??

Wow we have a rr bridge that is now painted bright yellow with big bright yellow warning signs and flashing yellow lights due to the number of truck drivers who just dont see the LOW CLEARANCE bridge!!! The area is also brightly lite up at night to help drivers see it but several times a year a driver tries to go thru it not one has ever made it....

RE: Do folks actually carry passengers in their fifth-wheels?

Awhile ago there was a story on a family pulling a trailer not sure if a TT or a 5ver but the family lost their grandpa who was in the trailer when it caught fire while they were driving down the road I believe it was up in wisconsin. Something I would never do legal or not.

RE: Campgrounds near Pigeon Forge-Gatlinburg & Smokey Mountains

Creekside RV Park worked for us FHU w cable swimming pool clean a/c bathhouse and laundry about a mile off the main drag. Kroger and and gas station close by. Trolley service thru the campground. We stayed end of June over the July 4th holiday I highly suggest to use the trolley when possible as driving on the weekends is absolutely bumper to bumper. Trollies will run PF to Gaitlingburg, Dollywood etc.....We did drive some but parking is hard to find so we used the trollies as much as we could could. Pine Mountain is the newest campground in PF and I have heard nothing but good things about it. Good Luck

RE: Brown County State Park Indiana

Hi we stayed at Brown county SP last year with a 25 foot TT. We stayed in the back I believe it was site 330. It was in taylor ridge in the very back. There are quite few sites that are tight even for mine how ever the front area had alot of room and we saw alot of 5th wheels and big motorhomes. It also was the most non shady area. I also went to rvparkreviews.com and got some good info there. Hope this helps if I can find the site I was on I'll let you know.

RE: BANG

I suspect the person who asked why you didn't slow down, never drove a big rig.
When I used to haul horses it really irked me when the guy with the VW would pull out in front of me and change gears. lol
Bea I may not have driven a "Big Rig" but that has nothing to do with driving defensively.....We all need too.
