RE: SD CDL DL needs to be renewed

You don't need a CDL to drive your RV, however you do need a license for the weight class of the RV and if it has AIR BRAKES, an air brake endorsement. Perhaps in your state, not in mine or any other state that I know of... Check with the Michigan DMV website... The only state that does not require an air brake endorsement is Florida. HOWEVER: (in Florida) The written exam for driving ANY vehicle that weighs more than 26,000 lbs. has ten questions on air brakes. If you miss ONE you get a NO AIR BRAKES endorsement.

RE: Home Page Suggestions

You could try doing what I did. Learn HTML and write your own 'home page' which resides in your computer. Advantages: It is private - no one else can see it. You can include 'Widgets' from any service and even write your own Widgets. You can include links to all of the sites you frequently use. No ads to get in your way. You will be limited only by your imagination and programming skills. Disadvantages: It is not accessible from any computer other than your own but this can be easily overcome by copying it to a 'thumbdrive' and taking it with you when you use a 'public' computer.

RE: Southern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois - suggestions?

When you are on I-39, you will pass through Rock Cut State Park in Loves Park Illinois, just before you get to the Cheddar Curtain (IL/WI line). Exit from I-39 at IL 173 and go West 1/4 mile to the park entrance. Camping with electric only is $25/night. There is a BRAND NEW "2 holer" dump station. When I left there a few days ago, I was the first one to us it. To see it on your Google map, zoom in, pan as necessary and switch to 'satellite view'. The campground is frequently full on weekends during racing season; it is less than 1/2 mile from the Rockford Speedway.

RE: Digital TV - VHF vs. UHF

Should have no effect ot VHF, whenever you find one. With a new Sensar IV head, I did see that normal rotation had the same effect on reception as before. However, I do find several VHF stations that seem to have no broadcasting, other than a signal. Quite a few of the old VHF channels are now in use by communications services and you will see them as a 'signal' with no video when you do a scan with your TV set. To see the TV stations in your area, go to: The FCC website and enter your location or Zip Code.

RE: Walmart parking lot stays - need advice please

There is a link on the walmart web site listing locations that will let you stay overnight. Remember that it is for a quick overnight and not a campground. Don't put out your awning, lawn chairs and stuff. Care to point that out? Like what section? I don't find it on their site. It is here: http://www.allstays.com/c/wal-mart-locations.htm

RE: Friday night fluff-Wolf Creek Pass

Went through Wolf Creek Pass in '77 when the road was under construction and the East slope was gravel all the way up. Also, there were no guard rails which made it rather interesting.

RE: What is with these cursed danged ANTS?????

I use 1 cup of 20 Mule Team borax, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water to make a syrup. Saturate a 'Cham-wow" with the syrup and cut it into 1" (2.5 cm.) squares and put a few out for the ants. They will carry it back to the queen and when she dies the entire colony dies.

RE: SD CDL DL needs to be renewed

Why do you need a CDL for your RV? Are you running a business or something. Just want to make sure I'm not missing something... You don't need a CDL to drive your RV, however you do need a license for the weight class of the RV and if it has AIR BRAKES, an air brake endorsement.

RE: Telescope pics

I'm a very very amateur astronomer. But space stuff just fascinates me. The moon, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn are very cool. But the first time I finally found Andromeda, I about wet my britches. :B We had a really good night here recently, with venus in the west and no atmospheric disturbance, it and Mars were really incredible. Might I know you somehow? GSHS Class of 81 A few weeks ago, it was Jupiter and Venus in the Western sky for about an hour every evening, just after sunset. The brighter one was Venus. If you have clear skies for the next few nights, watch for the meteor shower - now in progress. If you can't see it, go to: SpaceWeather.com and click on the link to listen to the the USAF Doppler RADAR.

RE: Installing a fifth wheel hitch

When you drill the holes in the bed, make them about 3/16" oversize... Then mount the hitch, making sure everything lines up properly... Then completely remove the hitch and install a 'sprayed-in' bed liner... Now re-install the hitch; the bolt holes may be a little snug so you can re-drill them using the correct size bit for the bolts. It is a little extra work but you will never have the bolt holes rust out.

RE: Pig tail

Run the cable under the cab, up between the cab and the front of the bed and mount the connector in a convenient place in the bed. You can also do what I did: I built a 'relay box' with two relays for the turn signals and a relay for the tail/running lights. That way the switches in the TV don't have to switch the high current required by the trailer lights.`

RE: Unresponsive plane flying in the Gulf...!

A semi automated landing system already exists. Two dual localizer receivers... Two dual glideslope receivers... ... all interfaced to the autopilot. It is called "Cat III" and is capable of putting the right main in a 3 ft circle. No, it is not new technology; I was repairing and calibrating them in 1967.

RE: What do you use to level your RV?

I use one of these: http://www.allproducts.com/manufacture100/lcz633188/product4-s.jpg placed on the 'cold plate' in the refrigerator to do the initial leveling. Shimming under the wheels for 'side to side' and adjusting the the tongue jack for 'front to back'... When the rig is level, I install this on the front of the trailer: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y116/k9erg/Level.jpg?t=1334947368

RE: Florida Storms

You can keep an eye on the storms by clicking here. Those Icons that look like cars are the vehicles being used be the storm spotters; if you click on one you will see what the spotter is seeing. You can 'drag to pan' and 'zoom' to see your area up close. You do have a weather alert radio - I hope.
