RE: Just Plain Gross

We witnessed someone dumping on the dump station ground last summer at a state park. My wife is very passive so I was shocked when she got out of the truck with the video running on her phone. She walked to the rear of the trailer to get the license #, walked up and got a shot of the truck and plate #, said hello to the guy so he looked straight into the camera and then asked him if he p**p* on his driveway at home. He flipped her the bird which she caught on the video plus all his mess that was left behind. She never said another word and got back in the truck. We stopped at the park office and they downloaded the video. We can only hope that they followed through with locating the jerk.

RE: Question on Leases

Different states have different laws, but around here a contract is only valid between the people who are designated on the contract. New owners = new contract. Pretty hard to enforce a contract with someone who is no longer in the picture. The new owner could be buying the property to clear it for an entirely different purpose.
If your friend wants to stay, he better buy it himself.

RE: Brake drum temperature

Mine always measures in the mid to high ninety's with normal use. Normal to me is driving down the interstate then stopping at a reststop and taking a reading. Heavy braking of course would make higher readings.

RE: Trip to Ireland ruined Guiness for me

Guinness draft in a bottle has a little capsule in it that looks like a rocket that releases CO2 when you tip the bottle. It is the closest to the real thing IMHO.

RE: New 30 amp repl. plug is to big for trailer storage cont.

I ordered mine online and was soooooo disappointed when I saw it would not tuck away. Took a hacksaw to the handle and then filed it smooth and it now just barely fits. Still a big improvement over the old one.

RE: So what will happen..?

I'm trying to figure out how a HD tow package would only have a 3.42 for a rearend
The 6 speed is the difference. Big increase in tow capacity from the old 4 speed automatic.

I'm guessing your new plug has a handle on it, cut the handle off and you're good to go.

RE: Indiana - I70 east of Indianapolis?

You have received several good suggestions and I would not rule out any of them.
Summit Lake(North of New Castle) and Whitewater both are very nice state parks. Whitewater does have some large pull through sites. They have 30 amp and no sewer or water on the sites but do have dump stations. Water is available but you would have to go to the spigot to refill. Both are about 15 miles or so off the interstate. Just South of Whitewater SP (which is south of Richmond) there is also Brookville Lake/Mounds SP and Quakertown SP. Mounds does have a few full hook-ups, Quakertown is 30 amp only. My pick of the 4 mentioned State Parks is Quakertown. Should you choose the Brookville park or Quakertown let me know and I will give you some advise on the reservations for them. They are combined on the reservation site and can be confusing. There are also two Mounds campgrounds and you could end up reserving Mounds at Anderson Indiana.
The mentioned KOA is Tall Timbers between Richmond and Dayton and one of the highest rated KOA's in the country so I would keep it in mind.
Walnut Ridge would be Ok as well and is near New Castle. It is owned by one of the largest 5th wheel dealers in the country so there is the chance you might go home with a new trailer!
Natural Springs does have full hookups and is a nice park but the sites are pretty close together. It is about 3 miles off the interstate at the Richmond/New Paris interchange.
Deer Ridge hasn't been mentioned but is a nice private campground with full hook ups and is only about 1 mile off one of the Richmond exits.
Hope this helps in your decision!

RE: Indiana - I70 east of Indianapolis?

SolidAxleDurango, be a little more specific about how far off the interstate is too far and your minimum hookup needs. I am from that area and will try to point you in the right direction to meet your needs. If you are willing to go 20 miles off the interstate there are several nice state parks and state recreation areas.

RE: Hocking Hills SP or KOA?

The bathrooms are typical state park bathrooms. They try to keep them clean but on busy weekends we really appreciate our trailer facilities. The tent sites at the SP are on the loop across from the pool and is away from most traffic. They are also closest to the busiest bathroom.
Either the KOA or the SP you can't go wrong. There is much to do in the area and you have to drive to most of the sights from either campground.

RE: Water leak in brand new TT

We had the same thing with a Starcraft. It was shipped without a P trap for the shower and we had quite a bit of water leak through the floor and in the wire chases. There was also a water leak in the wall.
I held out for a written warranty against future mold and delamination problems due to water. They said it wasn't necessary because it wasn't that bad. I argued that if it wasn't that bad then they should have no worries about the warranty. Long story made short, they gave me the warranty and they ended up repairing some delamination at a later date.
There is no such thing as a little water in a travel trailer.

RE: Shoud we rewinterize? Temp dipping in freezing.

I faced the same issue here last week. Mine is on a storage lot with no electricity. I just opened the faucets, pulled the water heater drain and opened the low point drains. I figured what ever was left in the lines would have plenty of room to expand.

RE: Slide-out Boot

I posted a thread earlier about these just out of pure curiosity. The unit can be ordered with your windows cut out. It certainly can cure a leaky slide. My biggest concern would be wet fabric when closing the slide in the rain. Now I haven't seen one wet so I can't say how much moisture they retain.

RE: wife worried about snakes

My poor wife has not been able to spend much time outside of the state of Indiana and no time west of the Mississippi. She is worried about snakes for both her and our two small dogs. I have told her that snakes will leave her alone as long as she leaves them alone. Has anyone out there have had any big problem with snakes?:h
Hate to break it to your wife, a woman hiking at Brookville Lake in Indiana, was treated for a rattlesnake bite at the Richmond hospital last summer. Rattlesnakes are uncommon in Indiana but they do exist.

RE: Truck Set-up Advice w. 8ft Bed

I tow a 30' 5900lb trailer with a very similar '04 GMC with no issues what-so-ever. If your truck has the 3.73 rear end your towing capacity should be in the neighborhood of 7200 lbs.

RE: 04 KZ Durango slide question

Look for a 1" hole on the opposite side of the trailer from the slide near the bottom of the skirt. The stabilizer wrench should fit in the hole to crank the slide manually.
