RE: Good Sam Park $ 5 Discount

Hmmmm, I too had the impression that it was a longer term promotion. Not sure where I got the idea, and I most likely didn't read the fine print, but...

RE: Awning

You may be able to get a finger on it where it probably slid to the bottom. Mine has a slot and I was able to slide it back up with a finger and hold it in place until you can get the screw started. A little bit of a pain, but certainly doable. Good luck!

RE: Tyvek cover for 23ss

My fiver is 33'9", and I got the 34-37' one. I was afraid the universal one made for that size would be too snug, and/or difficult to get on. Yes, I have some extra, but I just fold it up and tie it at the back. Good luck with it. I love it for the winter, but don't think I would want to put it on/take it off several times during the summer when I'm using the fiver.

RE: Rope Lights for awning

I just use regular rope light and have the round hooks that slide into the awning slot. Just leave them on the lights; put up and take down quickly. Works great, and I really like the soft light it throws.

RE: Colorado Mountain Passes

Can't compare the tunnel, but the MDH does indeed have some pretty steep climbs, and descents. Lots of curves and switchbacks, and some very steep dropoffs without guard rails. There are videos on Youtube you could check. Less challenging but also scenic route from CS to Durango would be 25 to 160. Not a bad drive at all, but still beautiful. My $.02. Have a great trip!
PS: MDH, Ouray, Silverton definitely worth the drive. One of the most scenic routes in America. Take the toad if you have concerns about the rig.

RE: Wanna know how bored I am right now?

You'll need duallies on the helium to make for safe lifting, though.

RE: Rookie mistake -forgot to pull the plug

If there is no obvious damage to the plug or the cord, maybe you did indeed get lucky! Can you get to the other end of the cord to check those connections also? No pedestal attached to the plug end, right? ;)
BTW, welcome to forum! We all live and learn!

RE: first tow - 2005 F250 Powerstroke impressions

The forums at powerstroke.org will give you a wealth of information, both good and bad, about this engine. Do some reading to understand the signs of possible problems. I think it is a great, powerful engine that will easily tow your load, but it did have some issues, and there are some measures you can take to address them. Hope you have many trouble free miles!

RE: What do you do?

Move to the left if possible. Merging in that situation is a two driver cooperative endeavor, but unfortunately you can't rely on other's cooperation. Oh, and also don't let "idiot drivers" ruin your weekend, or you'll never have a good one again! :) Happy trails!

RE: INS.

I took out the Good Sam Extended Service Plan when I purchased my used unit. Basically I wanted to make sure everything worked. Once I became more familiar with the unit, I discontinued the coverage.

RE: Co.Rt. 550. Durango to Ridgeway ??

PS: IMHO Ken and Sue's is the best place to eat in Durango!
BillMFl - If you like BBQ, try Serious Texas Bar-B-Q in Durango. We first ran across it quite some years ago and was well worth waiting in the line at lunch. We're quite happy that they opened a shop near my brother in Loveland, so we can get our fix there now, too.
While we're on my favorite subject!...I'll second Texas BBQ, and Gazpacho New Mexico Restaurant was excellent for Mexican (New Mexican?) cuisine!

RE: Vent Covers

Are you covering a power fan? If so, the Fan Mate is recommended due to the additional air movement, but I've seen that quite a feew have used the Maxair II. I've got the FM, and usually leave my vent open 24/7/365, except when heating or cooling.

RE: TOTAL NEWBIES, looking for assistance intelligently

IF you're not able to find someone to help out personally, bear in mind that we all had to start somewhere. Any good dealer will provide an orientation to your unit which should help you understand the systems, hook up, etc. Search and post this forum with any questions you've got, and even Youtube has various videos. You might consider buying an RV Basics book, which I found to be very helpful when I started many years ago. Best of luck to you, and Welcome!

RE: RV Service Tech

Saw one in a CG who was doing a lot of recall work. For instance, at the time, Dometic had a recall on certain year fridges. He was authorized by the manufacturer and went around the CG, offering to do the recall on site. Owner didn't have to go to a dealer, paid nothing & the tech got paid by the mfg.
He towed a trailer emblazoned with "Authorized Mobile RV Mechanic" or something like that & picked up a lot of repair business as well...
This is definitely worth thinking about...

RE: Going from F250 to F350 - would you?

I'll go along with the "do it" crowd, if its possible for you. You're also gaining extra cab room, and the long bed will make a difference in towing also. If you don't jump on it, somebody will.

RE: Reinforcing Table - before converting to bed

Hmmm, never really thought about it, but then usually have kids sleeping there, if necessary, and never had a problem. I guess it would depend on what type of weight you plan to have on it. I personally don't think its necessary.
