RE: Sweetheart Rally X, Kerrville, TX Feb. 16 - 19, 2012

Hello everybody! It always brings a smile when I remember all the friends we made and the fun we had at the Sweetheart rally. If we wern't so far away we would surely attend. If I can remember how to post a picture I will show y'all what we do with our time here south of the border.

RE: Would you Wax your RV?

Would you Wax your RV?
I did once, now I call Carlos and he comes to the campo with a barrel of good water. he and his 2 boys wash and wax ( with turtle wax ) for $2. per foot. Comes to $70 for our rig. Best money I ever spent. I have it washed in the fall and washed/waxed before we leave in the spring.

RE: Learn Something New Every Day...

I use a small amount of dielectric grease on the AC receptacles and plugs down here in Baja where everything gets full of sand when the wind blows. Never thought about it, but don't see why it wouldn't work on battery cables and it is conductive.

RE: Devil's Backbone - Baluarte Bridge

We traveled the road from Durango to Mazatlan in 1999. It was the most beautiful scenery we had ever seen. Where is the new bridge in relation to the marker of the devils backbone?

RE: Slide is Slow

I was having the same problem. I cleaned the outside front & rear of the slide room, cleaned under the awning and the rubber seals. Sprayed all those areas with silicone spray. I do that about twice a year. I think what was happening was the resistance was so great it was tripping the relay which is what stops it when all the way in or out.

RE: Euro chairs

We replaced the sofa bed, which wasn't much of a bed to begin with, with 2 Ekornes recliners with ottomans. We love the chairs and now our motorhome is designed to sleep only 2 ;)

RE: Question for Alfa owners

Gotta love this forum, 19 replies to a question and 4 were actually useful. My friend has done some research and is satisfied other than the question about the roof.

RE: Question for Alfa owners

Hola Tomas, I did that, but didn't want to spend $25. just to ask a question.
I see y'all already have a good group together for Kerrville.

Question for Alfa owners

A friend is looking at a 2004 Alfa motorhome. Don't know which model. He says it has a king dome recessed into the roof. That part of the roof is fiberglass, the rest is rubber. That would scare me. My question is: did they come from the factory that way or has it been altered?

RE: The truth is now being censored

I remember they were having money problems last year and mentioned they may quit. I believe these are a bunch of retired customs agents providing a free service.

RE: TIRES

I recently pulled off the 6 year old Goodyears because of age and traveling to the hot part of the country. I had no problems with the Goodyears but went with Michelins because of price. I can't tell any difference in the ride. I resisted the temptation to buy the cheaper Hankooks.

RE: No TIP to Rocky Point

We were at Lukeville last Friday. We were told by U S Customs people we would be searched by Mexican authorities and would NOT be able to take any beef into Mexico! Since we had just stocked up we decided to move on. We crossed at San Luis on Sunday and were not asked about beef. Makes me wonder???
We are in our rv space south of San Felipe now & life is good.

RE: We're outta here!!

We arrived in Why, Az. a couple of days ago. Pulled into the Hickiwan Trails RV park and took the car down to the border to see about getting our visas. U S Customs agent advised us the Mexican authorities were not allowing any beef into Mexico. Since we had stocked up at Wal Mart in Benson, Az. the day before, we decided not to cross there ( Lukeville ). We went to Winterhaven, Ca. and drove the car to Algodones where we got our visas and were told to pay at the bank when we get to San Felipe. We also found an ATM and got some pesos ( $13.62 to $1. exchange rate ).
We crossed yesterday at San Luis. U S Customs and Mexican authorities were stationed BEFORE the Mexican border. Questioned us about where from, money, guns, etc. No one was at the mexican border. We got the green light and left. I guess the beef thing was local to Lukeville/Sonoyita. Maybe they are feeding the poor there?
We are now in our rv space south of San Felipe and I am about to witness the first of many sunrises over the Sea of Cortez!!

Left home yesterday for our 2nd home ( rv park ) south of San Felipe, Baja Ca. We are now in Wichita visiting Donnas family. After 3 or 4 days we will ease on down to Yuma to load up with supplies, then be set up in time for the full moon of October and some good fishing!!
