RE: Campgrounds in Island Park, Idaho

Yes, we do want full hookup. Colter bay rv park is the park we tried to get but say they are booked for the remainder of the summer. I'll check again when we get there, just to make sure.

Campgrounds in Island Park, Idaho

Several of you have mentioned staying in Island Park,ID when visiting Yellowstone NP. Looking for a full service park for 5 days that is not too far from the west entrance, reasonable price. What would you recommend?

HWY 212 from Badlands to Billings

This is the shortest route, but is it a good road and is there anything to see along the way?

RE: Best full service ,private, RV park near Jackson,Wyoming

Yes, I was hoping for a campground in Jackson or north towards Grand Tetons. Colter Bay was my first choice, but was too late.....they are full after 10 June for the summer.
What about Headwaters or Gros Ventre at Flagg Ranch? Any experience with those?

RE: Wheel Bearings for W22 Chassis

If the seals or hub is leaking, is this expensive to repair?

RE: Wheel Bearings for W22 Chassis

Stuck my finger thru the fill hole and did not feel any oil below. Sounds like it must be low. You mention "clear plastic" cover. Unless mine is extremely dirty, it is black, but I did see the "fill line" indicator mark. Any suggestions on brand/type oil to use. Hopefully the same as rear end.

RE: Wheel Bearings for W22 Chassis

Harold/jeepfreak,
Removed the cover and found that the hubs are oil lubricated as you said. Hub cover has a removable rubber insert on the end and a screw on cap on the side of the hub cover. How do I check the fluid level and how do I add more oil?
(when I removed the rubber plug I didnt see any oil....should I?)

RE: Wheel Bearings for W22 Chassis

Yes it is a 2006 Pace Arrow (production date april 2005). It definitely is a W22, but the manual covers the P32 and other chasis other than the W22. Also covers the W24.Guess I need to order a W22 specific manual/maint guide. I will check the front wheels tomorrow to locate the sight glass (I hope). Thanks guys!

RE: Wheel Bearings for W22 Chassis

Harold my owners manual has the following number on it : W0006485A
There is no page 199-200. It refers to more than one type axle and bearings. One way to tell is do what Jeepfreak advised....remove the wheel cover and look for the fluid window. I do hope it has the wet hub which would make it more simple to maintain. I only have 24,000 miles but am planning a long trip and want to make sure we are safe as possible.

RE: Wheel Bearings for W22 Chassis

So, "repacking" the front wheel bearings is not the correct terminology, correct? Sounds like ensuring oil is kept at the proper level would the critical maintenance requirement. Anyone have experience with this with mechanics? Or, done this yourself?

Wheel Bearings for W22 Chassis

Maint books says to repack front wheel bearings at intervals on the W22 chasis. It does not mention the rear wheels or axle. It does say to drain rear end oil and replace at specified intervals. Does the rear end oil lubricate the rear wheel bearings. Anyone else have experience with this maint issue? Thanks for your feedback.

Wow. That is pretty crowded. We may have to stay outside the parks and commute each day. That is, if they are not all full.

RE: Trip Advice for Yellowstone

No, BigDogger, not going to west coast, just visiting Yellowstone and surrounding area. Actually, I may stay on the east side of Yellowstone and use the car to visit the park (and also Grand tetons).
