RE: Camping with a 1 year old

We camped with our kids when they were young. Was a challenge at times but well worth the memories.
I do think we were lucky. Each of our kids seemed to respect a campfire, but we burn wood at home too, so they see fire all the time.
As mentioned above, have plenty for them to do and see. Makes it easier for all. Even at 14 months, they can carry small pieces of firewood and stack it. Include them in everything. We found that worked well.

RE: Class C camping in the Smokies

You should in my opinion, have no problem anywhere. There is a lot of camping options in and near the park.
We stay at Smokie Bear campground just out of Gattlinburg.

RE: Best Campsites in Great Smoky Mountain National Park

After reading these posts and looking at the pictures, I want to go back now. One of my favorite national parks. Then I just saw Dolly on TV. Is this a sign? Lol. Am I meant to go back? Maybe I have to stop at Dolly World now too. Lol.

RE: Myrtle Beach SC

But are there any other good campgrounds with comparable amenities.
No. Not in my opinion. Not much shade but that is why you have an awning.
These sites are big enough for your rig but not much more. If even 1 of three had a fire, it would be a smokehouse.
We still had a great time at OL and will go back there next time.
We were there in July and not sure we would have made a fire even if we could have. It was very humid all the time and 80 degrees by 8 am. Mid 90's each day and still plenty warm in the evenings. We enjoy the heat of July, but many Northerners do not.

RE: Best Campsites in Great Smoky Mountain National Park

Cades Cove is nice. We are big babys and like FHU, so we stay outside the park and do day tours in the Park.

RE: campgrounds near green bay wisconsin

There is not much around Green Bay. Have to go a little way out of town. Many go up to Door County.
We go to a Jelly stone in Fremont about an hour southwest. A few northeast near door county like Bayshore mentioned above and Quiet woods in Brussels.
Or Pine Grove just west of Shawano.
There is some in Kewaunee County as well. All an hour or less from Green Bay.

RE: fiver frames

Some great info.
Our open range does have a lippert issue .Open Range is looking at more solutions as of now. I do think they want it fixed, but the truth is, I think the lippert product is the problem. I am not interested in bashing a company, but the frame flex issue in front is happening on several fivers including Montana to my knowledge.
We do like our Open Range a lot. Just not totally sure I want to deal with this again. How many weeks will this be getting fixed again.
Our OR dealer sells KZ and says they make their own frames. Has this now changed?
I looked at the Stone ridge and it looked nice. Still think I get more bang for my buck with OR, but instead, maybe, do I get what I pay for? Is this part of the money saved?
I welcome any input. Just don't want to make a mistake.

fiver frames

I'm not trying to start a debate, but, my question is, which fivers do not have lippert for a frame manufacturer?
We have had some issues, and we are looking at what fiver to get next.
We are now looking at rear living room models as we are down to one child left. He can sleep on the couch. Lol
I now want to find a real nice five or more year unit that is built well.
We have owned two fivers with two frame problems, so I am tring to look at more options.

RE: Indiana - I70 east of Indianapolis?

We are at Indy koa right now as I type this. Off 70 east but pretty close to Indy. Not sure if this is too far west for you.
This cg is OK. A glorified over nite type place. But I cold see some extended stay too on some of the park.
Nice people in the office. Seemed a few weekenders came in last night.

RE: florida gulf beach camping

We just left emerald beach a couple days ago. We had a great time and can't wait to go back next year. This was our first time in Florida. We will stay next year at the same campground. Looked at some others in the area but liked the one we wee at better.
We drove a few minutes across the bridge and had miles and miles of empty white sand beach.
The campground beach was nice too and we used it as well. It is on the sound.
We did this same search and too found that the few cg left on the beach were big money. Condos have consumed.

RE: fifth wheel insurance

When it's attached to your TV,and only then, it is covered by the liability part of your TV policy, but no coverage beyond that. If you want anything beyond liability such as collision, comprehensive, etc, you must have a separate policy. If your trailer is financed, your lender will require a separate policy to cover any loss that effects their collateral!
100% correct
Don
Exactly correct. Our progressive policy also gives us some contents insurance. It is stated and cost is per thousand.

RE: hitch question for you 5th wheel guys

A front over the rail box may work, but nothing above the rails will work on the back. As soon as you turn on a goofy road or driveway with a big elevation change, you truck rails may be real close. Ours even hit slightly just the other day when turning a sharp corner with a hill on one side of the intersection.

RE: TST Tire Monitoring System

I'm guessing it reads the air temp, not really the rubber compound. As the pressure increases, the inside air temp or nitro temp will rise too. I would think there would be no real way to measure the rubber heat unless you had a sensor stuck to the inside of the tire.

RE: gas door closer for entry door

Our Open Range has this. It is mounted to the bottom part of the door. Early models had problems as they were too strong and sprung the door. Ours works great and is more of an assistance than a closer.

RE: TST tire pressure monitor: is "repeater" needed?

40 foot fiver. Just got the tst. No repeater needed. New though so has new batteries.
I didn't even hook up the additional antenna. Just the little one on the side of the unit.
Locks on great.

RE: Bear Country

We found that camping is more of a base camp in these areas with the amount of site seeing.
We do everything inside and maybe grill out a little. Absolutely no food, garbage, and even the grill should not be outside overnight. Just feel if you don't put yourself in a situation like that, there can't be that problem.
