RE: Argh- totally screwed up!

you could try roamers Retreat.
They don't have a pool or many extras.. and they sometimes have sites open when you would think that everything is booked.

RE: NJ motorhome inspection

I remember the first time I took my old Motorhome to the Millville insp. station. It was like it was the first motorhome they every saw. Had to check with the supervisor. I ended up driving it through the inspection line because no-one there wanted to drive it. (that was before inspection was privatized) Can't wait till I have to take my new one in to see how that goes.

RE: Grand Canyon in early November

A few years back stayed at Trailer village in the park. Arrived the week before Thanksgiving in a raging thunder-snowstorm. They closed the interstate behind us. When we arrived at check in they said "Your going to stay?... the forecast is for 2 feet of snow over the next 2 days." I said where else would I go. It did snow for 2 days. No Cell phone or TV. The shuttle system was great and we were able to get around. On the 3rd day the weather cleared. It was so spectacular with the snow, the canyon and the blue sky. It was so worth it.. Oh and there were no crowds like the summertime.

RE: Looking for a good unerase utility

Ok so you were able to change the attrib so that you can now see the data. What did you do to remove the malware? At this point you don't know where you stand. You may have root kits or keystroke loggers.. who knows. Even if you are able to "clean" the system... Most Security experts will tell you the best thing to do is to format and re-install the OS. I know that is a big PIA but that's the only way to make sure you are completely safe.
I started with rkill (mentioned in my second post) - an av program that kills processes but itself doesnt fix the problems. They tell you on their site/instructions to rename the executable file so the virus programs wont know what program to look for (this is part of the problem in that they will alter Norton, AVG, Windows key files, etc so they wont run).
After running rkill I was able to get to get to perform a System Restore which I couldnt do the first attempt.
I also ran MBAM to be sure and it was clean. The key point was being able to get to do a restore - which is much like reformatting a drive and an O/S installation.
If you feel ok with this.. it is up to you.. I would download a copy of Microsoft's defender offline. windows defender offline and do the offline scan. The offline scan boots it's own mini-OS and not your installed windows OS. It's free and works well.

RE: Looking for a good unerase utility

Are you sure the data was erased? There is malware out there that will make your drives folders and files hidden. This may be what has happened to you. I would say that if the information is important to you go to a professional.
You could try to go to folder options and turn on view hidden files.
Just a thought.
There is malware out there that will do things like this to you and then attempt to get you to PAY to fix it. Don't fall for this go to a professional.

RE: privacy curtain

I just purchased a new Jayco pop-up camper. I would like to install some type privacy curtain around the porti-potty but do not have a clue of how to do it. I am open to all suggestions.
Thanks in advance
I would use a shower curtain with grommets. Then use some 3M command hooks on the ceiling. 3m commmand hooks

RE: Tire Pressure Monitoring System Help!

You should have called TST as soon as you were having trouble. They would have worked with you to get it going. I have had to call them for support 2 times.. got someone on the phone right away. They were always helpful. With my system if it is sitting idle.. it takes some time before each sensor sends it's info to the receiver. For example.. after sitting with the receiver off for the winter.... I take it out to the motorhome and it can take up to a 1/2 hr for all of the sensors to report. If you take a sensor off or put it on it will report right away because it senses the pressure change.
I always run the receiver on battery outside when adjusting the pressure of the tires. If it works on the outside of your rv then you may need a repeater...
Again.. call TST they will help.

RE: Temperature Monitoring Devise

I use a product from a company called temperature@lert.
The one I have is a USB stick device that has software to monitor the temperature on a laptop and e-mail you updates.. you can configure this to your needs. I have it e-mail me every 1/2 hr with the temp inside my coach. The limitation with this is that you need an internet connection.
They also have a unit that is more advanced it's there Cellular Edition. It costs more and I think you have to subscribe to the service.
here is a link to their website: temperaturealert

RE: Old Faithful Winter Picture

Did that trip a few years ago in the winter. I noticed all of the people in the picture have snowmobile suits on. We took a 50 mile round trip on snowmobile to old faithful a few years ago. Had a box lunch at the site waiting for it to blow. It was a trip of a lifetime.

RE: scooter / rack

I attempted this with a 23' motorhome I had. I had some mixed results. I loved the fact I didn't have to bring a towed car with me, but, Her are some of my lessons learned.
Check your max tonge weight (500lbs?)
Check your axle weights.. remember you are going to hang 400lbs + the rack way in the back. It is like making a big lever and will make the front light.
All that being said.. I did it a few times and I even reinforced my frame extension and hitch because I just was a bit paranoid.
and
after all that I ended up buying a trailer to put the scooter on. I found out that because of the scooter hanging so far behind the rear wheels it bounced alot on rough roads (It's like having the scooter on a lever out behind the motorhome) and actually ended up breaking the handlebars (using canyon dancer straps)and almost lost it off of the rack.:E I also didn't like the handling changes of the motorhome.
I now have another longer bigger motorhome but still would not go back to the rack mount.
Just my experience and opinion.
Happy New YEARS!

RE: 2005 Jeep Liberty

I have a 2004 Liberty that is fantastic as a toad. I hardly know it's back there.
It's easy to setup for towing basically just follow the owners manual but it's as easy as shifting the transfer case into neutral and put the auto trans into park. There is even a place to add new tail light bulbs and sockets rather than splicing into the wiring harness and using diodes.

RE: Need some wireless router help - issue solved!!

Hi guys,
OK - I just bought a new Windows 7 PC (Christmas present for my granddaughter and I'm attempting to install it on my wireless network at home... I use MAC addressing on the router for an additional layer of security and would prefer to keep this feature in place...
With the router MAC addressing disabled, the new laptop links up to the network no problem... I have tried several variations of installing the MAC address of the new computer on the network router with no luck... If I type it in and save it, when the router reboots the address is not there... If I try to enable the router by clicking on "allow all users" and then save that to store the MAC address it doesn't work either...
The thing I noticed here is that all of the other 15 MAC (network adapter) addresses that are stored in the router begin with 00 (zero, zero)... The network adapter on the new machine begins with 60... The router, a US Robotics USR5461 MaxG is about 6 years old... Not ancient, but not real current either.. So I'm wondering if the 60 in the first two digits of the MAC address is causing an issue with the router... I'm going over to the US Robotics website now to see if I can find any answers and I'll check back here periodically...
Can anyone shed any light on this issue - I would appreciate any help you care to offer...
Les
Using MAC address for security is not good it is easily cloned. You should use the WPA/WPA2 to secure your connections to the router.
That being said... your router may be so old that it doesn't support that newer mac address. I doubt there is a firmware upgrade for it.

RE: Winter Camping w/ Slide Out Awning

You just have to be careful when retracting the slide.
We had water freeze on the slide topper that dripped off of the roof. It prevented us from putting the slide in. It was a large piece of ice and I didn't have a ladder available to remove the ice and put it in. We left the slide out and then returned the following week and the ice had melted. If we know it's going to snow allot we will pull the slid in.
It is a full wall slide and has a roller in the middle for support. I believe that it is hard on the topper rolling it in and out in the winter. But we like using the Motorhome in the winter so I know that I will have to replace it sooner than normal.

RE: Remote Start Added to Genset?

You may want to check out the Cummins Onan Energy Command 30W (EC-30W)
If it fits your genny... it is a wireless remote/auto start system direct from Onan.
The best part is that you can install it yourself, It is designed that way.. It just plugs in.

RE: Google Navigation on Android phones

Also you may no know is that Google navigation requires the 3g data connection.. if you are in an area that doesn't have the data connection you don't have any maps.
I purchased through the android marked ALK's CoPilot live for 9.00 it allows me to setup rv routing, avoid propane tunnels, set a height restriction. It also downloads the maps to your device so that you don't have to have the 3g data connection for it to work. It is much more robust than the google map. They also now have a premium version for 19.99.. I'm going to upgrade to it.
Just my 2 cents.
