RE: Rcmd? So. CO or N NM w River for tube+high altitude

We love Durango, should have somehting in the area that would meet most of your requirements. We stayed at Durango RV Resort the river runs right beside the park and you could reserve a spot next to the river. Its a private campground and thought it was nice will stay there again. The river was low last year but if you do not mind driving a little I am sure you could fine what you are looking for in that area.

RE: Screen rooms

We used it when we had a pop up and liked it. It was really nice when we were set up for a week, pain for short periods of time. If you are going to be set up in one place for a while might work out better.

RE: Campgrounds near Denver, CO

We stayed at Dakota Ridge for a few days. Seemed like a nice park and we had no issues and would stay there again.

Waste totes

I am considering getting a portable waste tote and I am not quite sure where I would store this while traveling and I am looking for suggestions. Our TV is an SUV so storing it in the TV is out. We do not have a ladder on the back of the TT. Not sure if it would be an issue to store it in one of the exterior storage compartments or not. So I am just curious if anyone has any suggestions on where to store this should I purchase one.
Thanks

RE: KID CONFLICT

We have yet to run into that issue our kids are closer in age, 2,3,5,6. I really like to camp out in the middle of nowhere and my wife is fine with that most of the time but she does like going to other cities and walking around and seeing what the city has to offer. However we do try to mix it up everynow and again. A year ago we did a city trip, San Francisco, and this year we are going to do a more out in the middle of nowhere trip like Wyoming. Our kids really do not seem to care right now as they are fine hiking or going to a museum in the city.
But may be something to consider to mix the trips up a little and perhaps include a city that may have other things to do like museums or other city attractions.

RE: Local Jayco Dealer Won't Service Our Jayco Camper

Well I will say I bought my unit out of state. I will also say I saved a lot of money doing so. It was the best deal for me and my family not the dealers. That said, if I had any warranty work I would expect the local dealer either to refuse or put me last on the list. What argument do I have they have just as much right to refuse my business as I had to refuse giving my business to him.
I would contact Jayco and see if they can advise you where to go.

RE: balloon festival in albq.nm

the lot across the street was filling up today. I heard last year that they had spots across the street in the lot for RV's the second weekend. Not sure if that will be the case this year but if you are looking to go may be worth a try.

RE: Where to stay when on the road?

We have 4 kids as well and generally stay at Flying J, walmart or CG along the way to our destination, it all depends on what we are doing. Generally if at a CG we just pull in and hook up the electric. We came to the conclusion that unless we are going to take a shower we just use the water in the tank if at a CG for a night, might dump tanks might not, less to do in the morning, not that it saves much time though.
I refuse to stay at a hotel when I have the TT, just seems like a complete waste of money.
Remember if you stay at a Flying J or Walmart or other free place ask if it is alright first and where you could park for the night, they may not allow it. And as said before remember you get what you pay for at a free place, nothing.

RE: Towing a TT with a Traverse

Not sure if it would work or not as I do not know what they weigh in at but have you thought of a Hi-Lo, or something of that type of trailer. You will probably not get the bunks but will get the hard sides. I camped next to a guy who was towing his with a Honda Pilot and he said he had no issues.
Just a thought.

RE: TV and TT size question

I have the below set up probably close to yours. I have not had any issues and I have towed it in the Rockies, in high winds in the snow, rain basically in all kinds of conditions without issue. Some times I even forget it's back there.
I suppose it is up to you but for myself my set up does just fine for me.

RE: Extreme Makeover Home Edition

Well if this is correct and not a scam I do think it is a nice thing that you are giving something back. However it does sound odd to me. We had a movie company use several houses in our neighborhood to film a movie last summer. They brought in all their own RV's. Parked them in an empty lot near the neighborhood, these were from a rental company as you could see the advertising on the side of them. I asked the location coordinator where the cast was staying and they said thy used houses on craigslist. So they do look there and it may not be a scam. However they were quick to throw money around to keep the neighbors happy as it this stuff is a great distraction to neighbors. They paid to use my house and my neighbors it was a good deal and they left it just as I left it. It just seems odd as they were giving out money like candy on Halloween one neighbor got $500 to have a fake for sale sign put in her yard. Maybe TV is different.
Bottom line is look into it carefully and read and understand every word of any document you sign, remember they know exactly what their requirements are to you and they are only going to do what the contract says.
I hope it all works out for the best for you.

RE: What ammenities do you look for in a storage facility?

You got a great deal, I pay $69 per month for a pull through 24 hour access a bunch of security camera that I can watch from my computer, dump and water at limited times during the day. there is a guy who lives on site and they are really nice.
I wish I have electric, a covered spot. However I think a pull through site is a must for me as I can take the TT back to storage on my own and do not need to take the DW and kids to help me back it in to the spot.

RE: Albuquerque & Santa Fe, NM RV Parks

If you are looking for something btw ABQ and Santa Fe there is Stagecoach RV park its on the north side or Rio Rancho and I beleive there is a KOA in Bernalillo. I have not stayed at either so I cannot comment either way on which would be better. Most of the other parks are going to be on the south side of Albuquerque or the norhtern side of Santa Fe I think there is one on the south side of Santa Fe but not sure. It all depends where you are going to spend more time. Its only about an hour drive btw the two cities so if it were me I would pick the city you plan on being in the most and stay there. There really is not much btw the two cities.

RE: Amarillo, Tx Campground

We just got back from Amarillo and we stayed at Ft Amarillo. It was nice people were friendly. I would stay there again. Oasis was our second choice but we decided we wanted to stay closer to town. It is an older park but still nice.
