RE: Toyhauler, State of Washington Style

The stumps makes it totally priceless.

RE: Water system / holding tank maintenance

Might be overkill but since I also fill on the road at some campground I still sanitize once a year with the host/bleach method. I don't sanitize in between trips, however I have a few times after I filled at campgrounds that I didn't totally trust the water supply.

RE: What would you do? Air conditioning question

I think the 15k/13.5k setup is pretty normal, however if it was designed and sold as a 15k/15k then I'd have them swap it out, every bit helps. That said, when we camped in Southern Utah a few summers ago it was pushing 105 at the RV park and 110+ at Coral Pink Dunes. We ran both units pretty much non-stop but we brought our slides in, plugged the roof hatches and used an additional awning sun screen to block some of the afternoon sun. It was still hot, but it was reasonable in the RV. I did find that I could dump more cool air by opening up the AC and not using the ducts, then I ran a 12v fan to distribute the AC around the main cabin area. Word of caution when camping in the hot weather don't put perishable items in the bins over the couch/dinette area, there is very little, if any, insulation and things get baked.

RE: Anyone added Hose/connection For BBQ from propane tank?

I installed a T in mine for my BBQ and others. Been working great for 5 years. I still keep a couple small LP bottles in case I want to use the BBQ in a different location. I have about 10' of hose. Picked up the parts at a local ACE hardware. https://img.skitch.com/20120513-nggsb1itfac69m1nsp3qk7j56d.jpg https://img.skitch.com/20120513-fmirswrgjwkb7hu7c1cun8h9cp.jpg

RE: Washington hwy 221

221 is a breeze, no worries with your rig at all. Going down 14 I'd cut off at Hwy 97 and take I84 down the rest of the way, the tunnels further down can be a challenge and the bridge at 97 is free.

RE: Toyhaulers by Jayco?

rollingrogers, one thing I've learned over there years on this forum is never take one persons word on anything. Quality in RV manufacturers does change, but if you search for Jayco here you'll get a broad view of thoughts on them. What was quality in 2008 may not be quality in 2012, but if you learn what to look for then you can do you own review and decide. I don't know "Lady" but I can say that user isn't a regular on the Toy Hauler forum.

RE: Please delete

Yep RV.net is having issues with photos, I fixed so both photos would show on the first post and adjusted width to fit.

RE: Please delete

Right now I don't think it's you I think the server has having tissy fits this afternoon. I've had a few challenges posting. Which portal are you coming through? RV.net? You might try woodalls.com they both link to the same server but sometimes the portals have issues.

RE: Apple accounts getting hacked

I opt to buy iTunes gift cards instead of giving my CC. It works fine and protects my accounts. Plus I buy all my gift cards when they are on sale so I save about 20% on the cards which then translates to a savings for apps and music too. rockhillmanor, I've read about this if you google it some you'll find some others with the issue and some possible solutions.

RE: Adding 2nd battery question and battery monitor

Generally speaking you want to add batteries of the same type/group and age. If not the newer battery will only charge to the same level as the old one. Knowing your battery group size would be helpful, as it might make more sense to go to a dual 6v system then to just add another 12v Group 24 Battery. If you haven't yet gone to The 12volt Side of Life I would do that, read it over as it's a great resourced about batteries.

RE: RV Expenses

Posting the same question in multiple forums is against the forum rules. I am going to post the link to your other thread and allow folks to post comments there. RV Expenses

RE: Replacement Parts?

I'd Google "RV furniture" you'll find a number of them. The only one that comes to mind is Bradd and Hall. Since Fleetwood exited the towable market I don't think you'll find much in the way of standing stock of previous items, but somebody should have something that matches close enough.

RE: Trouble Getting into smaller sites?

What about finding something a bit smaller rather then 43' rig. I think considering an enclosed trailer might make more sense. I've seen a couple with folding bunks up front, LP heater, 12v lights, etc. One guy installed those freezer flaps to keep the rooms separate, was a big unit but nothing to be ashamed of to sleep in either. Would give the kids their space too. I'm sure you can factor your weights to see if you can stay within specs or not.

RE: Replacement Parts?

A dealer can order you matching furniture if you want, however for a 2007 it may be more of a challenge and I promise you that you won't like the price. You will be better off to buy what you need at a furniture store. Getting it in, if it's an open unit is a breeze. If it's a garage model then pay attention to the door sizes and see if the furniture will fit. Many folks have yanked the stock sofa and replaced with something better.

RE: Trouble Getting into smaller sites?

You may want to spend some time reading from the big Diesel pusher Class A's too. Those tag axle rigs are often around 40-43' so they are likely to have the same site issues you may have. I fell in love with a 43' pusher, but after I looked at all the places we camp at I figured now wasn't the time.

RE: Trouble Getting into smaller sites?

I ran into some issues with my 39' Raptor. A couple of times I had sites that were technically long enough but not enough room to back into them. I had to give up on one site, another I was able to swap with another guy. I looked at a number of USFS sites but never risked giving it a try. It is something you need to be aware of and plan ahead if you are camping at USFS and some State campgrounds.

RE: Memorial Day weekend

For the first time in about 10 years we may actually end up at home. My son is set to fly out to Denver for the Blue Knights on Friday and I'm not sure I want to get a late start to the riding weekend on Saturday. If the weather is good we may put the boat in to service and give the quads a weekend rest.

RE: Possible move to class A

I'm pretty sure the Palazzo is a 2013 model, so you're not going to find out much from other users... yet. Personally I try to avoid the first model year of anything, let the bugs get worked out by somebody else. I camp with 2 other families, one with a Class C and one that changed from a C to an A. The difference in space is a real big deal, as I'm sure you've noticed. Since the unit you are looking at is a DP you'll notice a huge difference in the power you'll have too. Of course you'll need to be a bit more aware of your height too. I'd say one of the biggest things I've heard from those that converted are the mirrors, backing and overall visibility with their Class A rigs. But whatever you do, take it out for a test drive and make sure that you like how it handles.
