RE: Full time 5th wheel...extra car?

We've done fine with one vehicle. The extra expenses wouldn't be worth it.

RE: Idling my 2007.5 Chev 2500 6.6 L. D/A

Get a pyrometer installed and that will be your only issue on idling. Just make sure your turbo is cooled down to 350 degrees or less before you shutdown.

RE: Lights Dim every so often

When running down problems go from the cheapest to the most expensive: 1st check the battery to be certain there's water in all the cells. A cell that is low on water won't charge correctly. You'll get the converter cycling on and off and causing the lights to dim. If the cells are full then pull the battery and have it tested. Any battery shop can quickly tell if there's a bad cell and the battery needs replace. If the battery checks then probably the converter. X2 So that's what I've been doing wrong all these years...:S

RE: Lights Dim every so often

We went thru that about 2 years ago. Ours was the convertor but we ran it until it quit.

RE: Goodyear Tires AGAIN Gone Bad

Do you want to end this? Install 17.5 inch tire and wheel package. I see it is finally an option on new pnes. And with a 4700 pound load rating you wont have problems again. What is your aggrivation worth? X2! We changed a year ago and haven't had an issue since. No more driving in the rearview mirror!! http://www.trailertiresandwheels.com/site/1284278/product/0377865 I also hope you kept the tire because GY paid for all my repairs 3 times. We have GY 114 "H" now...

RE: Blew 3 tires in 24 hours

You beat my record of 2 in 30 minutes...I now have 17.5" wheels and H rated tires! Good luck in your repairs!

RE: Water pump runs continuously, but no water, no leaks

If you have a city water / tank fill valve make sure it's not in the tank fill position or any where in between. Ditto...been there!

RE: what type of shower head

This is what we have. It's good for us because we can adjust the pressure as we need. Been using it for 4 years and no complaints.

RE: Shooting Sports - what you take with you & where you go

We fulltime and have all the equipment with us including a reloader. I shoot all the shotgun sports all over the country and really like FL in the winter. The Okeechobee area has lots of choices. Kansas has some great Sporting Clays ranges as does Missouri. I just won't shoot in the Commie states of Kalifornia and Illinois...I'll spend my money elsewhere!! Here is a good source of shooting clubs... http://www.claytargetsonline.com/index.php On edit now that I looked at your blog, there are tons of places to handgun shoot everywhere. You'll just have to research each area where you get there. A lot of the ranges in the link above also have rifle/handgun shooting...

RE: Let's Talk MPG and Gas Price$.

I tow at 56 mph which might not save much gas as compared with 59 BUT why not try it? So what if the semi's have to pass. They whiz by me all the time but fortunately it is usually on four lane or more interstate highways. Amen!!

RE: flojet macerator pumps

We have a macerator but not a Flojet. We use a 1" hose and it works great. Our 5'er dump is really low so we run into problems occasionally with an uphill run like where we are now. Nice and clean to use. If you have guests, especially females, warn them about what to put in the toilet. Feminine products don't go thru the macerator... That's the voice of experience!

RE: Moving on from toy hauler to a full timer

I guess we're a little different because we're in a 5'er and looking at moving to a TH'er if we can find one we can live with. There are a couple that with some modifications we could fulltime in. We've been fulltiming for about 6 years(holy moly, that long already?) and still would not have a w/d. We still wouldn't have an automatic sat, especially mounted on the roof. We could go larger on the 5er but unless we get a THer that won't happen because the size we have fits in most places we go. I would get a large truck again...you won't regret getting the largest truck you can afford. Don't just get enough to "get by". Your heart will thank you. My best advice overall is to go to the RV shows. And not just in your area. You can see all of them side by side. After a couple of shows you'll be able to narrow your search tremendously. We looked for our fulltiming rig for 2 years before we bought. There was a lot of trips to shows and dealerships to take second looks. And remember that what will work for one person may not work for you. Since it sounds like you're a little ways from being ready, this would work for you. Good luck and stay patient. The ride is worth it!!

RE: When should I start Seafoaming a generator?

A little sea foam goes a long way. Rather than wait for an interval, I would start immediately. I think it is cheap insurance if you are not using it consistently. exactly. I always use seafoam in my genny and all the small gas engined stuff around the house. Ditto....

RE: DRV Toyhauler

We saw it at the Tampa Show. The entire wall moves forward and back and locks in place wherever you want it. You can travel with it in any position and when the toys are out you can move it to the rear for more living space. We'll be surprised if it goes over well. Not our idea of a TH'er...

RE: Dexter 7K axles , Lugnuts , Cone OR Flat , & 17.5 Tires ?

This is what I went with when I replaced my 16's. Went with the GY 114's(H) and I've been extremely happy. No sign of wear at all and no blowouts!! I would have been replacing the "G"'s by now... They came mounted and balanced ready to go!
