You can probably go as high as 11,000 dry weight trailer, IF you leave out the washer dryer and Generator, and try to pack light. Mine weighs around 13,000 ready to go. When the Gross trailer weight reaches 14,000 you are over your limit with that truck. My way of looking at it and my opinion.

Thanks for the ideas. Yes meteor crater was on the list. DW is disabled and probably couldn't do the hike to rainbow bridge, but the below dam boat ride might be an idea worth looking into.
Do they still do those airplane and heli rides to the GC? DW said no way, but I thought I might do it anyway. Any recommendations on that?
We are planning to be out of Arizona the first week of June. Will be asking about points of interest further along in our trip.

Arizona Trip
Two seniors with plenty of time heading west. Plan to see the petrified forest, painted desert and Grand Canyon. Are there any other 'must see' attractions in AZ?

I change every 5k and fuel filter every 10k easy to keep track of and peace of mind for me that my $$$$ truck has fresh oil.

too small a jack is an horrible accident looking for a place to happen. So 16,000 lbs divided by 5 (4 wheels and tongue) is 3,200 lbs. a 2 ton jack will theoretically lift one wheel only, but between you and me, that's too close for my comfort. I'd get a bigger one, just to be safe. Drop that wheel on your foot, it'll ruin your whole day.
So spend more money on a bigger jack, and carry more weight that will increase your load for something you probably won't ever use.
No wonder all you guys need a Peterbilt for a 32 foot trailer.

Yall all said he couldn't do it! Yes he can. That truck will pull that trailer. He probably won't be happy with it, but hey, that's his problem. You coulda said you might have problems with that, but NOOOO everybody had to say it can't be done. He'll show you it can.

Lincoln dental clinic in Juarez. My DW had a full set of caps put on there for under $2K. 10 years ago. She has some problems now but Heck it's been 10 years.
Lincoln has a toll free number. You call them when you get to El Paso and they will give you a meeting place in El Paso where one of their big Ford vans will pick you and other patients up, They will return you to El Paso when done.
With drug wars in Juarez their business is down quite a bit. Be sure and have your passport to make a hassle free re-entry.

I have had a problem with mud swallows at my stick house. Previous owners had allowed them to nest on the back porch for several years so I was trying to fight off several generations of birds.
Someone told me rubber snakes would frighten them away. That worked for about three days and then they found that a rubber snake made a perfect foundation for a new nest. So all last summer I fought them with water guns, and water hoses.
This year I had the idea that something shiny might work. I have seen the foil pie plates hung in fruit trees. So DW picked up some party decorations that you hang from the ceiling and they spiral down. They are highly reflective in gold, silver, green, blue, etc. They twist and turn in the slightest breeze. I hung them in all of the preferred nesting corners. The swallows still come occasionally but they seem to turn and run when confronted with that writhing, shimmering snake like thing hanging from the ceiling.
Can't say this is the perfect solution, but it sure helped around here.

We have had both and if you have ever pulled a TT in a strong side wind you will be relieved to know that the side wind effect on a 5th is almost nil by comparison. Properly set up you will find yourself alternately forgetting it's back there, and checking to see if it still is.
I was not happy about losing cargo space in my truck bed, although a lot can be carried below the rails, but the basement storage of the 5er is more than adequate to my needs. Some people want to carry along canoes, kayaks, and bicycles. For those items special accommodations have been designed.
A 5th is not the perfect solution, but nothing is.

Did anyone mention Custer State Park. Drive the loop slowly in the late afternoon and you will see Pronghorns, Bison, Elk, & burros that demand to be hand fed, a hoot for kids. Enjoy the scenery, many pretty birds, wild turkeys and the list goes on. It was the most pleasant surprise we found on our trip to Mt Rushmore.
We stayed at Custer's Gulch and enjoyed it very much.

If the oil light came on and the dip stick read full the possibilities that I can think of are.
1) It's not the right dipstick. (I've seen that before, i.e. the original owner lost the original dipstick etc.). You would have to cross ref the number on the dipstick or find an identical model and compare dipsticks.
2) The oil pump is shot, not maintaining pressure no matter the oil level.

Why a hybrid? The loss of towing capacity is due to the weight of the battery. Personally I have no reason to haul around a dead battery. A fully charged hybrid battery lasts what? 40 miles? The rest of the time it's just extra weight that you are paying to haul.
Flex-fuel might make sense. Hybrids just don't.

A light coating of rust is a good protectant. Pitting is bad. I doubt that it would pit unless it has been exposed to a strong acid or base. Some atmospheres can cause pitting, like near a chemical plant.
Most likely all that's needed is a good wipe down, a light spray of white lithium grease and you are good to go.

The 2500 Dmax/A can handle up to 2600-2800 lbs of pin weight depending on the trucks configuration. However a 12400
dry most likely will be closer to 14000 lbs when your loaded. The truck axles/tires will be at max or over. Upgraded wheels/tires and suspension will be required.
The '11 and newer 3500 SRW LTZ Dmax/A is a better choice and can handle up to 4000 lbs of payload with its 7050 RAWR/tire ratings and has a 17k tow rating. Fits nicely with a 14k trailer.
The '11 and newer 3500 DRW LTZ 2wd extended cab long bed has those big 9375 lb axle/tire RAWR that equates to 6000 lbs of payload and a 22800 lb tow rating. This truck has lots of overkill for a 14k trailer with 2800 lbs of pin weight.
....and will ride like a tractor when unhitched.

Here is something that may be useful. I have been told that if you add the following address to your address book you will be alerted if a worm or virus tries to hijack your e-mail program and send itself to your friends. Enter aaaaa@aaaa.aaa as an address in your address book. If a malicious program tries to send itself out through your email you will get an alert that that address failed. Of course you never send anything there so you know then that you have a problem.
I haven't been able to verify this but it sounds reasonable, causes no harm and is easy to do, so I did it.
