RE: Cash? What Is This Cash Thing You Talk About?

Trying to paying off a $114,000 loan with cash.
So my Dad got mad and demanded cash. It was "only" about $20k (not the $114k as in this case), but they put it in a duffel bag and gave it to my Dad and escorted him out to our car.
On our drive over to the other bank, us kids got to play with the wads of cash. That was fun. I'd never even seen a $100 bill before then (I must have been about 8 at the time) and there I was, holding a bag full of them.
A vivid memory! $20k in $100 bills can be held in one hand. Duffel bag? Bahahaha. :h

RE: Center Point eliminate empty fridge?

One has to keep a sense of humor posting on this forum. I don't think my buddy needs any driving instructions. He probably has more miles under him than everyone on this thread put together.
I wasn't aware that we were discussing how many miles we have "under us".
I'll start the tally for the rest of us at 3.5 million miles (accident free) and that doesn't include all the miles I backed 48 & 53 foot trailers.
We never have to re-clean our kitchen when we arrive.

RE: Center Point eliminate empty fridge?

If I were your friend I would try slowing down a bit first. Won't cost anything and just might cure the problem. We have a 2012 Montana 3585SA with rear kitchen and never have a problem with items falling/shifting.

RE: Full time 5th wheel...extra car?

When we started fulltiming in Sep 2010 we sold DWs car and became a one truck family. This has proven to be the best route for us. On the rare occasion that we had to have another car (only twice) we simply rent one. Rented one just last week for 4 days. Still much, much cheaper than owning, insuring, and maintaining another car.

RE: Driving Question

Go to a parking lot with your rig. Get a friend to come along and park their car in a spot where, if you were on the highway, it would be safe to turn into the lane. Then you'll have an idea where and how big the car is in your mirror and judge by that when you're on the road.
Won't work. It doesn't matter how large the car is. What does matter is how fast is that car going and what is the attitude of it's driver?

RE: Slow market or what?

A good, clean RV, well maintained and PRICED RIGHT will sell. The two biggest problems:
1) People mistake what they OWE on it for what it is WORTH (far too many people are upside down)
2) People tend to overestimate the condition of their rig.
This and pictures, pictures, and more pictures!

RE: Neighbor hit my MH!!!

If his buddy is allowed to do the repairs, I would place a time limit on the completion and not allow it to be placed "on the back burner" when he has other work. This can happen with buddy pricing.

RE: Forgot to close tank valves

Add another twist-on valve to the main discharge port and if you forget again you won't have a "surprise" to deal with. $20 well spent! :E

RE: Water Filter & Surge Protector Needed at Topsail RV Park??

If you feel you MIGHT need the filter or the protecter and you do not get them, then you will fret about it the whole time.
If in doubt, go ahead and get them. The peace of mind is worth every penny.
By the way we use a simple Camco in-line filter and no power conditioner. I do keep a vilt meter and citcuit tester plugged in all the time.
I am in agreement with the first two statements, however, about the last one. Do you constantly sit and look at the volt meter and if it "pegs out" can you get your main breaker turned off before damage is done? I have to doubt it...just saying. :E

RE: lube plate makes unhooking more difficult ?

Last fall I went to my dealer to buy a new lube plate and got into serious trouble. Decided to look around and see what had changed on the Montanas since we bought our 08. You know, get some mod/upgrade ideas. Three days later, 2012 Montana 3585SA was on order. It came with a new lube plate! :E

RE: Engine Brake

Installed a PacBrake PRXB on my 2007 5.9 automatic about 3 years ago and it has worked flawlessly. This model is air engaged and comes with it's own compressor and tank. Can tap into air supply for other uses (airbags, etc). Purchased mine from a guy on ebay. Can't remember his ID but could be "chucksahunter" or similar. From Colorado I believe.
