My boys (20 and 14) and I joke that the house is haunted. The older one has said so his whole life. He's always blamed "Bob" for any electronic issues in the house. I used to tell him that we'd talked to our neighbor and she never mentioned anyone named Bob living in this house. She'd lived next door since our house was built in 1939. Then, one day I realized that we still get mail for someone named Robert O... We've lived in this house for 16 years and the people we bought it from had a different last name than Robert. And they lived here for 7 years. Apparently our ghost has a timeshare that people send him junk mail about.
It's funny because I always very loudly, "Bob...your mail is on the piano!" One day I fussed and just threw it away saying that he never read it anyway. A little later that day, my older son yells into the dining room telling me, "Mom! Bob tripped Drew (the younger one)!" Apparently Drew was running through the living room and his feet were pulled out from under him. Nick said he was horizontal in the air before he hit the ground. I make fun, but don't throw Bob's mail away anymore until it's sat on the piano for a couple of days. In fact, there's a letter sitting there now for him.
My friend swears that she heard someone whisper to her in the kitchen the other day, and two of my son's former girlfriends refused to go into certain parts of the house. I figure my house could be the most haunted in the world and I'd just blame the dogs and cats for making noise and messing things up.
My parents' house on the other hand...is definitely haunted.

Nature's Miracle is great - works on any organic stain/odor. My mom used it to launder my dad's clothes and bedding while he was recovering from a horrible bedsore (took almost a year to heal!).
I've also had good luck with OdoBan.

I'm still here and currently rv-less. My stepson borrowed my Suburban and blew the motor. I sold the camper to pay for repairs. At this point, all is stalled while the mechanic looks for a reasonably priced motor.
I do have a friend who is giving me a popup (former boyfriend who bought it for parts for my camper, then realized it was too nice to part out so he's giving it to me), but at this point I have nothing to tow it with. My Sunfire won't do it! Hehe.

I read the book and thought it was very well-written. I read somewhere that she had an amazing number of rejection letters for the book. Can you imagine?

I always assumed the campgrounds closed because of the weather. I imagine they winterize their hookups. While we don't have a lot of snow, usually every year we do have a good stretch of freezing weather that would cause pipes to bust.

I live in Bristol, VA - about 30 minutes from Johnson City. Cost of living is not bad - it's an especially good place for those who are already retired. This is a hard place to make a living. Always has been and the current economy certainly hasn't helped.
The climate is nice. Warm and humid in the summer, cold/cool in the winter. We have some snow, but in the lower elevations, we're rarely snowed in more than a day or so at a time. Spring and fall are amazing!
Johnson City has a state university and medical school, with all the accompanying shops, stores, nightclubs, etc. Johnson City is a slightly more progressive city than most of the surrounding area because of this.
If there's anything in particular I can answer for you, let me know. I've only known one person who was treated at the VA, but he seemed pleased with his care. I am acquainted with a couple of people who work there.

And just MAYBE, the ones in the drive through lane aren't lazy, but trying to get back to work.....
That would be me...I usually hit the drive-through while going from one job to the next. If I didn't eat in my car, I would have starved to death last year.

For your purpose, I have to recommend a superzoom cameras. I have an older Fuji S-700, and it's my everyday camera, even though I have a Nikon DSLR and a Kodak point and shoot with much higher megapixels.
The Fuji is an all-in-one camera...easy to grab, easy to use, and takes good enough pictures for an amateur. I've taken the same shot with both my Nikon and the Fuji. While the Nikon's are a bit better, to the untrained eye, the Fuji's pictures are great as well. The auto setting works well, and if I want to experiment, it has both shutter and aperture priority settings.
As an example of the zoom, here are two pictures I took at a Bon Jovi concert in February. The first is from my camera phone to show you where we were seated in relation to the stage. The second is a zoomed in pic from the Fuji. The picture is grainy...because of the high zoom...but considering the distance, it's downright amazing, imho.

RE: Photographers - digital camera recommendations - DSLR
I have a Nikon D40 and love it. It's not the best of the best, but it's a great entry level DSLR. When/if I decide to upgrade, I'll stick with Nikon and keep my lenses. It's only 6 megapixels, but I haven't found that to be an issue at all. The picture files are smaller than something with twice the megapixels and the quality has been great. I haven't done anything poster sized with this camera, but for prints and viewing on the computer, I can't ask for anything better for what I paid (used from Craigslist - $250 with one starter lens).
The only downside...and it was only a downside at first...is that you actually have to look through the viewfinder on the camera. The lcd screen on the camera is only for menu settings and viewing pictures you've already taken. I've gotten back into the swing of doing that, though, and find I prefer it over the point and shoots where you watch through the screen.

RE: Tires - update on my new Malibu Hankook tires
I'm having the same issue with a set of tires that were put on my car last week. In my everyday driving, I normally get 28-32mpg consistently. On long trips, I always get 38mpg. I drove to Baltimore and back yesterday and got 30 on the way up and 29 on the way back. I dread to see what my everyday driving will be.
BTW...these aren't Hankook tires. That's what I wanted, but the girl at the tire center talked me into something else. I want my old, bald tires back!

Sealing seams on an old metal roof...
My '73 Nomad has a leak along the back edge. It also has gobs of caulk and old aluminum roof sealer over it...peeling off in spots.
I'm realistic that this 40 year old trailer isn't going to be around forever. I'm hoping that I (or whoever I sell it to) can get a few more good years out of it before it just has a tarp thrown over it at a hunting lease.
I don't have the time, energy or sticktuitiveness to scrape all the old caulk out and get it completely clean.
I do have some Eternabond tape, though. I know it's best to have a completely clean surface, but would scraping the loose stuff off and cleaning it good allow the Eternabond to seal for at least a few more years? If not, what are your suggestions for a quick and easy, but not necessarily permanent, fix?

They were both fixed at about 6 months. The boy had a problem with the anesthetic that has caused lasting problems, though he has shown great improvement over the past years. We suspect that his sister knows there's something wrong with him and is trying to remove him from the gene pool (she doesn't know he's been fixed).

cats fighting
We have two cats, brother and sister, who hate each other. They've spent the past couple of years hiding and ambushing each other (not playing), but now they've ramped it up to full-fledged cat fights.
They're about 5 years old and have always lived together. Any suggestions on how to make our home a little more harmonious?

It' is all about ME, I am more important then you are, you should let me do what I want as you are not as important as I AM. Have you ever noticed that when waiting for someone to back out of a parking spot, they have to call on teh cell phone, light a cig, buckle the seat belt, adjust the mirrors, talk to teh passagnaer and the whole time they know you are waiting to park. IT is the ME generation at it's very best.
I look at this very differently. In fact, quite the opposite. I feel that the person impatiently waiting behind me, wanting me to hurry up out of the spot I may not be quite ready to leave yet, is the one who has the ME FIRST attitude.
