RE: Costs

With the DH being retired from the service you have good insurance. If you are going to travel a lot I recommend using Tricare Standard instead of Prime. There are a couple of places that offer a Tricare supplement (assuming you are not on Medicare) at a resonable cost. Also, don't forget you can use the campgrounds on the bases around the country. It is a great benefit. PM me if you have any questions. My DH has been retired for a long time from the USMC.

RE: mail delivery

Fairbanks and Anchorage are about the only places big enough to have more than one Post Office. Most of the small towns only have one and accept General Delivery Mail. One thing to watch for - not all of them are open on Saturdays and often close for lunch and mail sorting. Check the USPS website and call for info if necessary.

Anyone have anything to say about this campground in Nahma, WI? It has been suggested as a place to stay when we visit the UP of MI. Any help is appreciated. Treasa
Guess nobody has ever heard of this place. Time to look for something else.

RE: Fax Machine & Printer That Use Same Ink Cartridge

There are a number of fax software companies out there and some of them are free. You scan the document into your computer and then fax from there. You can also receive with some of them. Just Google it.
Just noticed that with Windows 7 you get fax software installed. You just need a phone line to use.

RE: Looking for a good light dessert

Strawberry Trifle
Angel Food Cake - cubed
Large Pudding mix (vanilla or white chocolate)
Strawberries
Cool whip
Layer in a large bowl the ingredients in the order shown. Repeat until bowl is full or you run out of ingredients. Chill.
Since Strawberries are now in season this is easy and a light dessert.

RE: Need opinion on where to sell my tow bar, with RV or car?

I would try selling it as a package first and if that didn't work, split it up. I know many people who have looked for a tow car already setup.

RE: Major question? Which phone number?

The way I read this it seems that he is going to sell the house and fulltime. If so, I would keep the house number for your new phone. Many people know you at that number and it is a hassle to get them to use another one.

RE: Dishwasher or not to dishwasher....

My "new to us" rig came with a DW and I personnally think it is a waste of space. I store items in it and am thinking about taking the insides out, making a board to fit in to make it a bigger storage drawer. Only 2 of us so not that many dishes to do. And we do use real dishes instead of paper.

RE: GPS INQUIRY

The Rand McNally 7710 is what we have. We picked it up in Quartzsite but it is available on Amazon for a good price and with free lifetime maps. So far we love it. Changed the voice to the guy as the DH can hear him better.

RE: Securing Crystal Figurines When Travelling

As both a fulltimer and a former Californian, I recommend Museum Wax/Earthquake Wax. Both the clear and the white work great. Neither will hurt the crystal. You can buy it at Home Depot or Lowe's.

RE: Roadside assistance Insurance. Who would you reccommend?

I have had both GS and CoachNet and have used both. I now only carry CoachNet. Because of bad service from GS I will never use them again.

RE: Removing dishwasher

Well, it needs a little service, the drawer doesn't seem to close completely so I was thinking that instead of having that done I would just take it out. Guess nobody thinks that is a good idea so I will just store what I can in it.
BTW, we are fulltimers and there are only 2 of us so I don't have a lot of dishes getting dirty.

Removing dishwasher

Our "New-to-us" Winnie came with a dishwaher. I have absolutely no intention of ever using the thing and would love to take it out to make that a storage drawer. Has anyone ever done this and what is involved? Treasa

RE: For the ladies...Opinions on convection/microwave ovens

I have had both and it really doesn't matter. There is a learning curve to learn how to cook in both the gas and the convection. The gas oven cooks unevenly and takes up a lot of space. The convection takes a bit of getting use to and, as stated, cannot microwave at the same time. You just have to adjust the timing of your food. I am with daveshan, floorplan is the deciding factor.

RE: Memphis must see, do ?

Don't bother with the ribs at Rendezvous. Overpriced and not that good unless you like an inch of dry rub on your ribs with a side of vinegar. Lots of other places to go to. Beale street is cool. Not sure when Memphis in May BBQ festival is but check it out if you can.
