RE: Four questions about tire inflation

I don't know about questions 1 - 2 as I need that answer myself, but on 3 & 4, If you look on the side of your tires TV and TT/5er it will give you a max cold inflation pressure, I use this for the trailer and my truck when towing. As for 4, I think auto manufacturers put the pressure on the door sticker to give the smoothiest ride. Esample-on my truck mfg says 65 front and 80 rear, I run 70 all around when not towing and 80 all around when towing, on my wife's car it calls for 35psi all around, and I run 40, 4 lbs below max cold pressure of 44psi. There are tables on tire manufacturers websites that give by tire size and weight load per tire what psi should be used. Hope this makes sense and helps.

RE: 2000 Jayco 3610 - furnace wont start?

Could be possible dirt daubers have a nest in it. That was the problem with our furnace.

RE: Recommended tire pressure for TV

Run your tires TV and TT at the max cold psi as stated on the sidewall of the tire. I check the pressure on mine early in the morning before the sun hits them or the air temp has time to warm up.

RE: Towmax 235 80R 16

I can't tell you which brand is the best, I've seen lots of posts on problem tires including all the brands you named. I just traded 5er's and had Carlisle tires on the old one. They were a 15" E rated tire. I kept them aired at 80 psi cold. They towed a lot better than the D rated ones that came on the trailer and I ran them for a little over a year and they still had excellent tread my story. My suggestion find one you are comfortable with, E rated, maintain max psi cold pressure. No tire mfg. can guarranty you won't have a blowout.

RE: Auxilary fuel tank

I purchased a Titan 52 gal replacement tank for my 07 chevy 2500HD,CC,D/A, and it gives me up to 400 miles without refueling in good driving conditions. Since it is a replacement it takes no room in the bed.

RE: Cell phone and wifi connection in deep southwest Texas

I know that when we camped at Ft. Davis there was very little cell service. We have 5 acres we spend a lot of time on around Lake Limestone and we use a booster we bought at Radio Shack and it works really well. At the moment we are not at the trailer so I can't give you the brand or model but it cost about 240.00 when we bought it. I think they have several different models now. Ours has to be held up to the back of the phone.

For Your Information

I am posting this information for those who live in the Hearne, Bryan, College Station, TX area and anyone who may need services passing through. I do not receive any compensation from them, nor do I work for them in any way. I've known them since the 1970s.
Texas Star RV Service Center; 5298 S. State Hwy 6, Hearne, TX, E-mail is txstarrv@yahoo.com, Phone # 979-279-2300, Owned by Frank and Mark. These guys opened this place after the RV dealer they worked for (Country RV) closed down. Frank was the service manager and Mark a technician. They work on any brand including motor coachs. These are good honest people and they do a very good job on repairs. They have just been open about a week and a half and at this time do not have a large selection of parts in their showroom. Hopefully you will not need their services, but if so give them a call.

RE: Wheel Chocks and King Pin Stand

IMHO opinion, the rotochocks help a little, but I think the JT strong arm stabilizers, or something of similiar design/quality would be a lot better in dampining the trailer movement. Most of the movement felt in the trailer is side to side or front to back motion and because of the way the jt strongarm system mounts it will reduce most of this. Leave off the 5th pin tripod. I am considering them for my next 5th whl. and even leaving off the rotochocks for the plastic wheel chocks.

RE: Towing MPG Astonishing!

We just completed a 3800 mile trip , TX, NM, CO, UT,WY, SD, NE, KA, OK and back home. Most of this was towing, probably 300 in and around miles, and we averaged 11.7 mpg with my signature vehicle. Of course I have gotten 9 on flat ground bucking a headwind.

RE: Gel Coat finish question

I've just been looking at a new 5th whl. Talking with a service manager found there are three basic types of finishes. In the (cheepest, for lack of a better word) the glass fibers stand out very well, in the second best the glass fibers are not as pronounced and the finish is smoother, and in the third and best finish the fibers are not distinguishable and the surface has a glass like finish. Now if there is any difference as to how the exterior is mated to the frame I don't know, is there any difference between the lifespan of the three, I don't know. I think the higher the cost of the coach the better the finish. I always ask the service tech after I talk with the salesman. Hope this helps.

RE: Fuel tank replacement

it will not automatically reset. I did not do enough research to find out if the dealer or anyone else might be able to reset the computer so it would read corect. I replaced my OEM 26(7) gal tank with a 52 gal tank on my 07 chevy 2500HD CC D/A.
