RE: Houston ,San Antonio, Austin, Ft Worth

Since San Antonio is on the list, from Houston I-10 is your best route. If you have time (and $$$) at Schulenburg (where you can get great pies) you could head south to Victoria, Cuero etc. If time/$$$ are budgeted into SA. One of the best locations with VIA (San Antonio's bus system) stop at the camp is the KOA. Great service, amenities etc. Too many things in SA to mention, if you like old missions, do the mission trail, beautiful especially at Christmas. The route up 281 is Texas secret, don't tell anyone. It's full of special little stops like Lampasas, Burnet and others. Enjoy your visit to Texas.

RE: 2007 Jayco with a rotten roof

Well this just adds fuel to my fire. My 07 Jayfeather was showing roof issues. The dealer inspected, photographed and contacted Jayco with what they found, H2O from AC. I had checked the mounting bolts found them loose from the last check (Mar 2011) and tightened. My specs, which means take up the slack, and snug so unit doesn't move. The maintenance manual says "Re-tighten bolts when they are loose. DO NOT over tighten these bolts as it may damage this gasket"(page 75 of the Jayco TT owner's manual 2007). Hmmm, right where the dealer says the issue started I also have a weird 'wavy warp' at the base of the bunk door and we've (me/dealer) not found any sign of water/moisture damage. Dealer says they've never seen that kind of fault before, and that it's like a manufacturer defect. Jayco has said it's my fault(roof) for not following instructions they included on AC maintenance. Sorry, but even the AC maintenance booklet (RVP/Airxcel/Coleman) doesn't give any better. I'm not 100% right now that it was rain/moisture that came in from outside or if the pan on the AC got loose enough to cause the issue. Which is what I think it was due to the 'rainfall' from the AC which caused me to find the loose bolts. This isn't my first rodeo with quality issues for this trailer. Before the DEALER rerouted the gas line, I went through at least 4 of them because the slide was chewing them up. Had issues with the plumbing as well on the first trip out. Love the trailer, not to keen on Jayco at this point.
