RE: washington DC?

We stayed at Cherry Hill last year and accidently found out that the station that is just past the one where you get off for Cherry Hill is actually only a couple of miles from the park. We did ride the bus the first day, going is fine, but coming home when you are tired took a long time. We parked our truck (dually) where the buses park and never paid for parking. We didn't get a ticket and did this for at least 5 days. In any case we got to the metro much faster and came home way faster. Wish I could remember the exit of the freeway, but it was only one exit past the exit for the park. Don't ask me which direction, but you should be able to find out. Hope this isn't too confusing, perhaps someone with a little local knowledge could help here. I seem to remember that it might have been the last stop for the line.

RE: Oatmeal...

I like the old fashioned and the steel cut. I substitute skim milk(2cups) for the water and for two servings I add l tablespoon of Mexican vanilla after I take it off the heat. I add Splenda and fruit. DH likes bananas and berries in his, I prefer blueberries, or blueberries and fresh peaches. The Mexican vanilla and milk make it taste somewhat like tapioca.

RE: Campground Suggestions - Santa Fe, NM

We stayed at Trailer Ranch many times, but called them from the road a couple of years ago to make reservations for that evening. Told them we would be there around 6, to which they replied that they closed at 5 and we would be unable to secure a reservation if we couldn't get there by 5. We ended up staying at Santa Fe Skies and really like it. It has a great view of the mountains, really great bathrooms and the people are very friendly, have stayed there several times since.

RE: Boring old oatmeal

Just adding a teaspoon of vanilla for each serving really does wonders. DH loves bananas so he adds that and we both use lots of fresh blueberries. Great breakfast.

RE: Campgrounds & Route from Niagara to Sault Ste. Marie

Thanks so much for all the help. We were unable to find a site in any of the Provincial Parks, but do have a couple of options at Wasauga Pines and Lafontaine. Sent a few more queries, but have not heard from anyone else. We didn't realize that Canadians had a long weekend this coming weekend,so finding a site was a challenge! My first question, what sights and/or activities should we take in in the Wasauga Beach area? After we leave there, do you have any areas/campgrounds we should investigate before we reenter the states at Sault Ste Marie? Thanks again for all your help, we are most grateful! If you ever need help with information concerning San Antonio, TX, the Hill Country or TX in general, please pm me.

Campgrounds & Route from Niagara to Sault Ste. Marie

Irene altered our plans, now looking for best route to Sault Ste. Marie from Niagara Falls, with some good campgrounds along the way. We have 10 days to 2 wks. We like to travel 2-250 miles per day, less is fine also. We have a high profile 36 ft. Fifth wheel. Any roads, or other things we should be wary of. Would appreciate any help, have never taken RV into Canada before. We have no guns. Are fruits & veg. an issue? What should we see? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Best route to Canada to avoid Irene

Best laid plans, oh well, stuff happens! Looking for best route with no low bridges for a high profile rig into Canada! Had planned to spend the next week in Bar Harbor, then into Canada, now thinking we hightail it to Montreal (in Boothbay now) and head west toward Niagara. So anyone have any experience with Rt 2 to 91 and then 55 in Canada. We think the only wild card is 2 in Maine. If you have any better ideas, would love to have your thoughts. Thanks for your help!

RE: US 201 to Can. 173

Thanks to you both, hopefully won't have Amy problems once we're on the major highways, but we'll have 4'2" on our dash! Thanks again!

US 201 to Can. 173

We are in lower Maine, heading to Bar Harbor. After that we are thinking of going to Quebec, then Montreal, Niagara, then back into States near Detroit. Does anyone know of any low overpasses, our 5th wheel is 13'6" tall. Most of that route is on interstates, but 201 to 173 in Canada has us concerned. Thanks so much for your help!

RE: Looking for park near Chicago

Thx so much for you help, should have mentioned that we have a 36 ft. fifth wheel and need 50 amp service. I was looking at the KOA in Union, just didn't know how far it would be to commuter rail, will check that out. We don't mind driving to a rail station, but dealing with a dually, specifically finding parking, will be a problem! Thx again!

Looking for park near Chicago

Need to find a good park in the relative proximity of Chicago, somewhere close enough to be able to drive to a train station. We need to ride into the Lincoln Park area. Having checked Trailer Life, I'm a little discouraged so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help!

Adirondack Park

We are visiting in the area and want to head into the park. Would appreciate any advice on routes through the park, sites we shouldn't miss or any other advice to make our stay better. We are presently staying near Lake George. Thanks for the help!

Cape Cod

We're looking for a campground on Cape Cod, our 5er is 36ft long and 13'6" tall. We need a campground that we can maneuver, just hope that animal exists! If at all possible, we'd love to stay somewhere midcape. Also, how far in advance do we need to make reservations to take the truck on the ferry to Martha's Vineyard, is it even possible to take the dually on the ferry. Thanks so much for your help! This trip remains a "work in progress"!

RE: Chesapeake Bay Tunnel

Thanks so much for your help and the tip about the toll booth, tips like that and knowing to have the propane turned off make life so much easier! Thanks too for the alt. route, will have a look at it!

Chesapeake Bay Tunnel

Heading up to Baltimore from Virginia Beach, would like to go through the Chesapeake Bay Tunnel in order to bypass D.C. Are RVs allowed in the tunnel? Read the regs and it seems like we can, would like to hear from anyone with experience. Thanks for your help!
