RE: changing the screen door to a storm door

I just cut out the Lexan panels to fit, then used velcro to attach them. So they are removable. Works great. No need to replace the door.
I agree. Just attach it OVER the screen. That way when it warms up. you can just remove it, and still have the screen. I have mine installed with mirror hanging clips

RE: Yogi Bear Jellystone,NC

Which one? There are three. One in Tabor City. One in Marion, and one in Cherokee.
The one in Tabor city is more than an hour or so from the beach. The one in Marion is, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the one in cherokee, WEll, It's in Cherokee, In the Smoky Mounbtains.
I couldn't see staying 2 weeks at either one.

RE: wash and wax your trailer

Been waxing my TT with cleaner wax for 8 years. Guess what. It looks like new. The wax takes off all the black streaks, and helps prevent them as well. I wouldn't use anything else. I might consult another sales rep though. That one knows little about waxing a TT.
As for the carwas. Mine won't fit under the roof.

RE: apache family campgrounds myrtle beach sc

BAD, so go to the best OCEAN LAKES its up to date and has big sites. JMHO
You muust have stayed at a different Ocean Lakes than I did. We stayed there last year, Oceanfront. sites are tiny. Barely enough room to sit the camper on, and park the TV. Apache's sites as actually larger. OL's best quality, is their bath houses. Very nice.

RE: So whats with all the crew cabs?

I have no children and always choose a crew cab. The supercab on the Ford is just to uncomfortable for rear seating of adult passengers. I love the interior space that you get with the crew cab and since I have a TT the short bed works well for me.
I have a 04 supercab. And according to the Ford book. the 04 supercab, and the 04 SuperCrew. Have the same size back seat.
The only problem I have with the SuperCab. Is "sometimes" in parking spots, it is hard to fully open the rear suicide doors. I sometimes wish it was a supercab at those times.

RE: Newbie to TT's

Fleetwood is a good pup. as is Viking, or Starcraft. AND there is actually no need to ever hand crank one up. Fleetwood has a model, that will not only raise it's roof, but push the bunkends out as well.
And even IF the pup you chose does not have electric lift. You can simply use a cordless drill to raise it. You will need at least a 24 volt. But it does it effortlessly. We loved ours. It will also run the stabilizers down.

RE: apache family campgrounds myrtle beach sc

Yes Apache is old, and the bath houses dated. Sites pretty small, but no smaller than the Ocean Lakes sites. and last time we were there. Security was a joke. That's the bad.
Now the good. Apache is easy to get too, you come off 22 right onto the road it is on. It is in N Myrtle, Close to restaurant Row, and Barefoot Landing. Apache also has the widest beach, Dune to ocean, of any Myrtle Beach Campground. Also. From the oceanfront sites. You can actually see the beach, and ocean. No other CGs offer that view.
We would stay there again. but it is not our first choice. It would come up on the list, however, IF they would fix up the bath houses.
BTW. they do give you pier walking passes.

RE: Towing mid-size TT with new 1/2 tons, anyone?

Honestly that Jayco, would be great behind my 150. There is no reason it won't be good with any of the choices you listed. It's pretty light.
As for how it sits hooked up. It will sit as level hooked, as it will unhooked, IF you setup the hitch correctly.

RE: Dw upset

Oh, dear.....I know that I'm OCD, but I think your DW has me beat. Sounds like you have a very accommodating dealer and that these small things will be taken care of. But.....for future reference, you're gonna get spots, stains, bumps and bruises - just the way it is. We take very, very good care of our ROO and want it to stay looking new - it's an '07, but don't let little things like this make you crazy or you're gonna be..........crazy! IMHO, this was a "pick your battles" situation. Your dealer is going out of their way, but if you're repeatedly asking for very minor things to be taken care of, they may not feel as accommodating as they are now. Save your requests for the big things that may or may not come along. Meanwhile, suggest you invest in Mr. Clean Erasers, some black streak remover, good quality cleaning products and be ready to enjoy that part of ownership. Happy Camping!
Sounds to me like the dealer is only doing what should be expected. And YES eventually any camper may have stains, and spots. however. IF I buy a NEW trailer there better not be any already there. Any stains, and spots the camper gets better be MY stains, and spots.
I also don't expect my new car to come with scratches in the paint. I don't expect any on the camper either.

RE: Question about towing and Puma/Tundra

What puma trailer? Do you know how much you will be loading into it? If not then you might want to go by the puma's GVWR. What is the tongue weight? Remember that the dry tongue weight will not be your final tongue weight. Load the tundra up as you would for camping and go weigh it. This will show you how much payload you have left for adding in the tongue weight of the puma. If it is still below all of your weight ratings then you should be fine. Just remember you can easily have enough truck to pull the trailer but the real trick is to have enough truck to stop the trailer.
Remember. the trucks brakes are only designed to stop the GVWR of the truck. Not the GCVWR. That's what the trailer brakes do. Any truck, No matter what kind, or size, that is towing over it's GVWR, and that is just about all of them. Has to have trailer brakes to stop the trailer.

Well dude. I'd take it back as well, and I would expect the grease to be cleaned off.Or a new PANNEL installed. Yes they can replace just a pannel, without replacing the whole tent end.

RE: suggestions for first time in NC or SC

Pirateland, Lakewood, Myrtle Beach Travel park, and Ocean Lakes ALL have grills in the campground. Apache has one on the pier. Also pizza can be delivered. Those are the only ones I know of with any type of food services.
However in all honesty. Toy really enjoy all of the perks that come with Rving in the Carolinas. you would need a vehicle to drive around.
You may want to look at renting a car to go and do some really fun things.
x2
You will find that cooking when camping just isn't like cooking at home. It is fun and different. Suddenly you don't mind the dishes.
question for you... you mentioned you have a ram. Is it set up for towing? You might be able to rent a TT for cheaper and see if you like that better. That way you would have a vehicle for getting around. In myrtle beach, you will have to drive places.
hello -
we have had several cruising sailboats and are very familiar with that type of cooking - we (actually my wife) did it with a cooler, alcohol stove - i think the rv will be like an intermediate step between the boat and home - having a generator, fridge/freezer, microvave and cooktop.
and i hate to tell you, but as the chief bottle washer there is nothing about doing the dishes that appeals to me!
the ram is set up for towing - but i am not interested in towing a trailer.
the car rental seems like what we will have to do for at least this "exploratory" trip
tks for the response
gil
We don't do dishes either. We throw them away, as soon as we are done eating.. What? Pots you say? No pots. everything is done on the grill, from steaks to potatoes.
OH and, There is a Breakfast / Pancake house about a city block South of the OL Front gate.

RE: Boat + Propane Appliances = Explosion

Admittedly. The boats I built were smaller than those mentioned. However. The gas tanks were installed under the floor, in the bilge. The boats were equiped with vents fore, and aft, To force the fumes out. They were also equiped with fans on the vents. You were required to start the blower, and let it run 5 miniutes before you tried to start the engine.
So my question. Do these large boats not have bilge vents, and blowers?
BTW. The blowers were located high enough in the vents, to not set off the fumes

RE: Are trailer manufacturers unionized?

Agree Unions have their place. However. A company that treats it's employees right, does not need a union. Plus, As a former card carrying Afl Cio member. I can tell you, unions benefit the company as much or more than they do the workers.
NC is a RTW state. Has been forever. And guess what. The good companies have all the benefits that the bad union companies do. And they stay here. Smart Companies provide good benefits to keep good help. It seems they have learned. You get what you pay for. Pay low wages, and no benefits. You get workers that will leave you in a heart beat. Pay well, Give them a stake (incentive) in the outcome. they will make sure they do their best to make the company succeed.. after all. the company is worthless with out good employees, and employees don't get paid without the company. It takes both working together.
That is why. WE are the best at what we do. they treat us OK, and we do good work. Simple
As I said. I was a union member. It will never happen again, after the way they acted.

RE: Are trailer manufacturers unionized?

Nope, I never said anyone should be forced to join or pay.
I just wouldn't ride on someone else's back. If I didn't like the rules I would work elsewhere.
The RULES say. A person does not have to pay for something he does not want, if he does not want to. But still has a right to a job. Every one has the same choice, Or like you say. They can go somewhere else. Sounds fair to me.
the other choice (union shop). You either pay, or are not allowed to work. No one should have to make that choice. To have to pay for a job.
