Surge Guard vs Progressive

Just purchased a new fiver and want to get a 50 amp surge protector. I have seen the tech data and prices from each of the two manufactures listed above, but would like some input from the user end of these products as to their performance. Thanks

RE: Curt 5th wheel hitch

I have a Q20 that I like very very well. The only problem I have had is at 20 deg. the jaws would not close completely enough for the handle to go in far enough to lock. Had to pry the jaw down with long screwdriver. I have about 30,000 miles on it. When it get into the 20's here, I plan on having the fiver in storage, the hitch in the garage, and I will be waiting a couple of days for the temps to get back in the 50's or 60's. :B

RE: Curt 5th wheel hitch

Thanks to everyone for their replys. I believe the problem has been solved and all thanks to the forum. I took the 16K back to the dealer as recommended by B.O.Plenty and Artemus Gordon. I have been made an offer on a slightly used, less than 1 year old Curt Q20 and go to tomorrow to look at it. It may be heavier than needed, but who knows the next fiver may be bigger;)

RE: Curt 5th wheel hitch

Have a local welding shop weld a couple tabs on the hitch and handle.... I thought about that option, as did the dealer, but didn't know if I modified the hitch that it wouldn't void the warranty, if it ever came into question

Curt 5th wheel hitch

I purchased and had installed,a Curt 16116 (16K)5th wheel hitch yesterday. When I got it home I noticed that there was no safety lock on the release handle. I contacted the dealer and he called the factory rep. Curt has removed the safety tabs on the release handle because of performance problems with the head under certain conditions. They offer no solution at this time for this design problem, other than to upgrade to their 20K model. Which has a price tag of $400.00 more. Has anyone performed a MOD on their 16K Curt that would rectify this problem? If not,the only other solutions, upgrade to 20K or purchase another brand.

Duramax Daily Driver

Recently purchased a 2011 Duramax for a TV. Problem is I will have to use it as a daily driver. I know out of the diesels out there the Duramax is suppose to the be the one that holds up best under these conditions.Daily driving will ususlly be about 10 miles each way.In this part of the country, this should give engine time to warm, but may not let it get hot enough to burn off all deposits. Other than taking it on a extended drive once a week or so. What recommendations do you diesel daily drivers have to keep engine in top shape.

RE: DH broke the breakaway cable :(

Thanks to Chuck S. My DD borrowed the HTT, upon unhooking, she forgot to undo the breakaway cable, but because she had used the battery disconnect switch, that Chuck recommends, NO PROBLEM
