RE: Poop there it isn't

"Do you poop in your RV?"
HECK NO!!!! I use the toilet :)
As mentioned Turn off the fan before flushing. Those wind directed vent caps also help. Give the black tank a good rinsing and there is nothing left to smell.
I don't think those Gypsie trailers in England have running water nor are they as nicely equiped as a class A.
Steve
Grey water can smell much worse in my opinion.

RE: HELP! EMERGENCY! NEED HELP NOW!

"slide inter-locks"
The electrical circuit has "switches" that must be closed for the circuit to be complete. These switches are called inter-locks they may be on the bay doors etc. They are there to insure that the slide is not activated when it shouldn't be.
Press one of the switches for the slide and listen/feel the relays on the slide-out control board in the rear electrical compartment. If they activate then the problems is forward (pump if hydraulic) of that. If they do not activeate then it is in the switch circuit.

RE: tow dolly instructions

alderion wrote:
is there an easy way to tell if a dolly is steerable or not?
the wheels on the dolly turn just like the front wheels on a car.
Models like the Master Tow dolly do not have wheels that turn however the "pan" (top part above the ramps where the car front tires sit)pivots when you make turns.

RE: Bargman LED stop/tail/turn light failure

I got tired of replacing them on the tow dolly and went to led. Those round 4 inch lights are pretty much industry standard and used on the over the road trailers. Just verify if you have a plug in connector or a pig tail.
Lots of sources for them Ryder Fleet Products is one.
Good luck

The web site says it has RV lanes. Might have a dump station should be able to get water there.
Any truck stop usually has water available.
From Barnes web site
"RV parking is available on the medical near the Taylor Avenue Building, 600 S. Taylor Avenue. These are electric-only hook ups, no water. Please call Public Safety at 314-280-7953 to make arrangements. Concierge Services has a list of other RV parking options. Please call 314-362-5194 to reach Concierge Services."
Give the Concierge a call and see if they can provide more information.

RE: Aquahot not heating leaving area

Joe
The "radiator" cap is a simple automotive style used on vehicles with an overflow tank. The fluid expands in the boiler when heated raising the level in the overflow tank. When the fluid cools it creates a vacume (if the cap is working) and draws fluid from the reservoir back into the boiler. If the cap is not working the level in the boiler will drop. It "may" drop enough to trigger the low fluid sensor and shut down the system.
With that many heat exchangers you should have no problem keeping the coach warm.
In my opinion the kitchen living/dash/zone is not working properly. You can perform a few simple checks if you can access the Aqua hot. First is to see if the pump motor for that zone is turning on when the thermostat calls for heat. The tubing should get very warm (160 deg +) as the coolant start to flow. After the pump there is usually a check valve. This is a common problem area. The butterfly inside sticks sometimes. A light wrap with a hammer seems to fix this. The line should again be very warm. Another possibility is that one of the lines was pinched/kinked and your not getting good circulation. Has the coach been this way since day one?

RE: Aquahot not heating leaving area

Joe
If the boiler fluid temperature is dropping to the point that the heating units are blowing cold air then there may be a problem with "VDC CONTROL THERMOSTAT". This thermostat is supposed to start the burner unit when the boiler fluid temperature falls below 175 deg F (approximate). It turns the burner off when the fluid reaches 190 deg F (approximate).
Does your unit only have three heat exchangers in the living area? Are all three controlled by the same thermostat (one zone)?
When the thermostat calls for heat the fans on the heat exchanger start and the zone pump in the aqua hot starts cirulating boiler fluid. It is possible for the boiler fluid in the lines to cool and the heat exchangers will blow cool air for a minute or so. The warm fluid should rapidly reach the heat exchangers and warm air should follow quickly.
My unit has two zones. Bedroom and bathroom one zone. Kitchen and dash area zone two. If you have two zones does the second zone provide warm air?
The resevoir can give a false reading if the "radiator" cap is bad on the boiler. The fluid level should drop if the unit is turned off and it cools. It should go back up when the unit is up to temperature.

Run a piece of sand paper over the surface to scratch it. Takes a second or two. Thats enough to make it unreadable to the average person.

RE: How do you know your rig is ok in the cold weather?

Chris
Yes some rigs are better than others handling the cold weather.
The easiest way to think about it is water freezes and will expand when it does freeze. That is what breaks things. So to keep from breaking things we have to keep the water from freezing.
No water = Can't freeze. Drain the systems
The problem there is you might not completely drain things. A low spot might trap water and freeze.
Antifreeze to replace water.
Pump pink antifreeze thru the system. It replaces the water and keeps your system from freezing. Of course you have no water to use.
Keep everything above freezing. (run the furnace)
This is were the big difference in rigs come in. Are the tanks (black, grey, and fresh) in a heated bay? Is the plumbing run in such a manor that it won't freeze when heating the rig? These are things to look at before you buy.
Good luck
Steve
PS you can winterize and still use the restroom by flushing with windshield washer antifreeze :)

RE: Heavy duty RV radiator - 93 chevy 454 auto dually

If you still have the 34 x 19 end tanks from the brass unit see if a radiator shop can recore it.
If not a good radiator shop may be able to order the larger (19 verses 17) tanks and build you a replacement radiator.
Good luck

RE: AQUA HOT IN COLD COUNTRY

The Aqua hot is a diesel boiler system built around a Webasto DBW 2010 coolant heater and an electric heating element.
The DBW 2010 burner requiers yearly maintenance consisting of a good cleaning, fileter change, and fuel nozzle change (think oil furnace).
The Aqua hot boiler contains (depending on year of manufacture) boiler antifreeze. This is circulated through the heat exchangers in the coach and heated by the DBW 2010 and electric element.
There are also several coil loops that act as heat exchangers. One is the "motor aid". It may or may not be plumbed in. This loop brings coolant from the engine thru the Aqua Hot. When the engine is running it will heat the boiler antifreeae in the Aqua Hot giving you hot water and some heat while your traveling. It can also be used to preheat the engine in cold weather.
NOTHING up to this point will FREEZE in cold weather.
The other loop is the fresh water loop. This is where your hot water for the endless showers comes from. This loop can freeze if there is any water left in the system and the Aqua hot is not operating. If it freezes it usually means a $7000 ish repair bill. Some people just blow this loop out with air. Aqua hot does not recomend this. The "proper" way is to fill this loop with good old pink antifreeze.
The Aqua hot can be operated with the fresh water loop winterized without any problems.
A little more maintenance than a propane furnace and water heater? Probably
Endless hot water. Priceless!

RE: Propane cyl ?

It depends on if the tank is a verticle or horizontal tank.
Horizontal tanks such as those used on fork lift trucks are designed to be used and stored on their side (horizontal position). When storing or in use the vent should be at the highest location to insure, as mentioned, that liquid propane is not vented.

RE: Mounting a removable wheel to tow dolly tongue?

Will
Make a caster plate like the one you have a link to, but make the base plate a rectangle. Offset the 2" pipe to one side. Place the plate on top of the tongue pipe down. Use two u-bolts (like those on leaf springs) or make up a couple by bending some threaded rod. These go around the tongue up thru the rectangular plate. You only reduce clearance by the nut height and plate thickness.
Hope I was able to explain good enough for you to understand.

RE: Dash Heat isn't hot enough

A lot of people run the RV furnace for additional heat.
Same issue in the summer the dash AC is not adequate to cool the whole coach so we run the generator and coach AC units.

RE: Michigan winter

Jack
We de-winterize prior to our first planned trip, or when one of the relatives visiting will be using the "guest house". This year brother is coming up in April.
I have heated bays so if I need to I can just run the heat for a few nights if freezing weather is expected.
We usually Halloween camp at State parks and winterize after that. Depending on the weekend we get for Halloween it might be as late as the early part of Nov when I winterize.
A lot depends on the TT and if you are storing it at home were you have access to electric to run a drop light or heater to keep things from freezing.
Enjoy using it and in Michigan you just have to take the weather as it comes.
