RE: Where to buy 2x2 steel tubing

Check your area for scrap steel or steel recyclers. I have bought 2x2 by the pound. They cut to length for me for a few bucks all up. That is if they have scraps long enough....you may be surprised at what they have as scrap by the pound.

RE: Broken spring

I also recommend checking ALL your springs with a BRIGHT light for any cracking.
You definitely don't want to have one break while on the road. We did about a year ago and it wasn't pretty. 10 Hours waiting on I-95 for the proper ERS rig to tow truck and trailer.

RE: Air Card for Internet Service

Clear Spot 4G IS unlimited for about $60.00 per month IF you are in a Clear 4G city, and NO contract. Same 4G as Sprint as Sprint uses Clear's 4G towers.

RE: Cell Phone Canadians wintering in the US

Tracfone, NET10 and straight talk are prepaid phones with NO contract that will call and work anywhere in US and calls TO Canada are the same as calls in the US.
I recommend you check their web sites for accurate info and great deals.
I spend Summers in Canada and use prepaid Fido and Skype. In the US I use Tracfone. Once you get the phone you can buy as much time as you require. The only issue if you let the time lapse, is you will lose that phone number. When you buy more time you will get another number.
I have a plan that cost about $100 and is good for 1 year and has 1450 minutes. If I need more minutes I can buy them anywhere as well as online.
They even offer a plan that will allow several callers to call a local number in Canada to your US number. Check their web site.

RE: Slide floor problems

It is a good idea to pull a couple of screws from the outside corner molding on the slides. Check for rusty screws. If rusty water has leaked and if the frame is wood, check for rot. If aluminum pull all the screws and put sealant in each hole and put screws back.
Good luck with the floor, it was a major job on our trailer.

RE: GPS warning

Most if not all GPS can be programmed for a preferred route. Most have way to preview the route and see where it is taking you. Most have the ability to "AVOID" specific streets or hwy's.
It takes a little time to "tell it what you want, and then make it do it", if you don't, any GPS can take you on a wild ride.
They can be great tools, but YOU have to tell it what YOU want.
I re-program routes all the time and have very few surprises.

RE: Mobile Internet

Might consider Clearwire if you are in their 4G coverage area. UNLIMITED 4G about $60.00 a Month and NO CONTRACT. I use about 50-60 GB a month. I am a very satisfied customer going on two years.

Clearwire is absolutely not unlimited. While they won't charge you for moving a lot of data, they will throttle your connection. I gave them a shot when they opened the Los Angeles market. Talked to sales and said I expected to be moving several hundred gigabytes per month through my connection. No problem, they said. On my three month anniversary, they started to "manage" my account. Basically cut my download speed from 10 megs to 0.5. Wouldn't tell me how much data I was allowed to move or when the restriction would be lifted.
Yes, that's a lot of data but I was very clear (no pun intended) about my requirements before signing up.
On the plus side, they only throttled the service on the adapter I "abused". The portable still got full speed. So one could get multiple adapters and switch between them as they get "managed". They offer discounts. I paid $60/month for two "unlimited" 4G devices. I think they had a 3-device package for $80-85 at the time.
FWIW, it was great while it worked. Always 8-10 megs down and 1 meg up. Very consistent speeds with little variation.
Now I have a grandfathered "unlimited" data plan on my Verizon phone with tethering and HotSpot. It's already known that Verizon throttles 3G data t 2 gigs on grandfathered accounts, tho they claim to be letting 4G data pass unthrottled. I get similar download speeds and much better upload speeds with 4G on Verizon, though both can vary widely, even on the same cell tower. Similar latency at around 60ms.
Verizon's LTE 4G would definitely be an advantage for telecommuters over Clear's WiMax 4G due to the greater upload speed. It's not uncommon to see 7-10 megs up on Verizon vs. a steady 1 meg from Clear.
I haven't moved enough data through my Verizon phone to know if they're serious about leaving 4G unthrottled.
I am describing MY experience of about two years. I have never been throttled.
Speeds are variable as with ALL ISP's, and data has been UNLIMITED.
I have never paid a single cent more than my $60.00 per month for 50 to 60 GB per month.
As they say, YMMV, Your mileage may vary.

RE: How did you start fulltiming?

Had a MH. Retired and found that the large house and yard prevented us from traveling for weeks or months at a time because of it. Decided to downsize to something that had little or no yard so we could travel for longer periods.
House sold way faster than we wanted and had to get rid of a lot of stuff and put a lot in storage.
Took off for the fall and winter and would look for a smaller place when we got back.
Somehow, we just never took the time to look.....7+ years later and still traveling.
Do you still have stuff in storage?

RE: Making calls from Europe

I use my iPod touch 4G with Skype for international calls. WIFI is available just about everywhere now. For a few bucks you can have telephone number that anyone without a computer can call you on. I have a number with voice mail. If someone calls and I don't answer, they can leave a message....works great.
I also use a Prepaid SIM card for a phone number in Canada. I have had the same number for about 5 years and only pay for what I use.

RE: Terrible Service

From GS ERS web site
NO mileage restrictions on towing, NO out of pocket charges, coverage for all your household vehicles and so much more.
Our last tow of Truck and Fiver was nearly 100 miles after being stranded on I-95 for about 10 hours with a broken spring until GS ERS finally got the right rig to tow us.
Over the past 30 years or so I have been towed WHERE I WANTED TO GO per their terms on 3 occasions. Once in Colorado on I-70 East of Denver. Once in California on I-5 on the downside of the Grapevine with a blown transmission line. Had them tow rig to Bakersfield CG and park the trailer, then take the truck to the nearest Dodge dealer and bring us back to the CG.
And the last one mentioned on I-95.
That IS their terms so some of you are apparently mistaken about what you are paying for and the OP was totally correct in requesting they take his truck where he wanted it to go.
What IS unfortunate is that the operators are all too often hopeless in knowing what their real purpose is, TO HELP THEIR VALUED CUSTOMERS with a minimum amount of misinformation and needless delay.
In the OP's case he was in no danger.
In our case 10 hours on a busy Hiway is UNFORGIVABLE!!
Are you reading Mr Lemonis

RE: My new passion is Asian for WW

I have been cooking Asian for about 40 years. One of the most significant factors is to use the kinds of ingredients the Asians use.
Many of those ingredients require a visit to an Asian Market. Most of the stuff available at the average supermarket just won't work for best results.
When you have something you like at your favorite restaurant, jot down the name, Google it for a recipe pick one you like and make it at home. I do this all the time with Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, Ethiopian, Korean, Indonesian etc. It ain't rocket science.
Most of the time I already have all the necessary sauces, rice wine and spices to prepare anything from any of those countries.
Then I just need whatever meat, seafood or veggies are required.
Just had a great fried rice for lunch with some leftover rice, Vietnamese Lemon Grass Pork, green peas, an egg, some Kecap Manis (Indonesian Sweet Soy), Sesame oil, Golden Mountain Seasoning Sauce (Thai) and Sriracha Hot sauce (Vietnamese) on the table to kick it up a notch.
Took me longer to write this than it took to make it.

And could be as simple as dirty jets or wrong jets. Easy fix.
I don't think the op ever said he wanted an electric range, just that if he changed the lighter to a residential type it might need ac to operate.
