RE: Woodall's iPhone App is Available in the iTunes Store

Hello Mr Lemonis it's got to be approaching a year now since the Iphone app came out. When can we Android users expect to see a Android version of this app?
Good Sam has been saying soon for a long time.

RE: Satellite low speed data port

The receiver I have is listed as compatible with my dish. But both items are no longer made and support is non existent with Sony and KVH wants me to buy a new dish. I was able to get some help from their parts dept (but they were able to sell me parts...).
The place with the $49.95 adapter will only say that it will work...

KVH=NIGHTMARE for me,truly hope your experience is better.WINEGARD is cream of the crop.gltu
Sony is the issue here, not KVH. I have the pinout from the Kvh switchplate.

Satellite low speed data port

I picked up a used KVH Tracvision LF for a great price on Ebay and finally got around to hooking it up. I am using a Sony SAT-A50 receiver and it has a low speed data port of 9 pins. An RS-232 serial port looking spot. The tracvision wall plate has an RS22 (telephone handset size) plug. The only adapter I have found was $49.95! From what I gather from the schematics on the Tracvision, no conversion is needed. I could build one for ~$4 if I knew the pinout on the Sony.
Anyone know where to find this?
I have had no luck finding a service manual for the receiver. I am waiting (still) for a response from KVH service department (parts department was great!).

RE: Doghouse organizer/cup holder

look at these on ebay
Item number: 250887030907
Item number: 190669141791
Item number: 190669141681
Item number: 220987763810
there are more, you have to search under wood console, plastic console
Although very nice, they will not work at all in our RV. Way too tall to sit on the doghouse. Now, in my mini van the first one looks great!

RE: Doghouse organizer/cup holder

Thanks for your help, Shutter Stuff. I took a look at the huge MH project you took on! What a brave man! javascript:; Good job!
Congratulations! You did it.
I was inspired by the rather long thread called The old girl is back-where to start. I recommend checking it out. I learned more about my RV from this thread than everywhere else combined.

RE: Doghouse organizer/cup holder

My unit has two cup holders built in so I bought a tool tote box that sits on the dog house to hold everything else, works pretty good. You can also get sand bag cup holders like they use on boats.

My wife is tired of the Rube Goldberg approach and asked me to look into this. From what I can gather, I am going to have to bite the bullet and pay a cabinet shop to make me one.
The main reason is drinks keep getting knocked over. By us and the dog:

He also likes to get into the front passenger seat when it is not occupied and this is when drinks get knocked over if they are not in the organizer.

You are copying the wrong address. You are using the web page address and not the picture. Right click on the image and copy the location. You are almost there!

ShutterStuff...would you be so kind as to advise the procedure for including a photo in a posting? Thanks. Valerie
Valerie, below is a link to the tutorial. I use these steps and host my pictures at Picasa.

RE: Doghouse organizer/cup holder

Jim, I did try that route, but the driver side has a door and the only place to mount it interferes with the window handle or the arm rest. The passenger side worked, but it was plastic and the dog broke it off turning around in the seat (Golden retriever). I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and pay a cabinet shop to build it for me. I have spent hours surfing the net with no luck.

RE: Doghouse organizer/cup holder

I did not think of actually building a functional one out of cardboard, but I started to do a template. My wife and I did sit in the chairs today and moved our hands around. I decided i wanted the drinks on the forward half as they would be less in the way of getting in and out of the seats.
The GPS is actually a full blown PC made from spare parts. It was actually a couple of years in the making due to trial and error. The most expensive part was getting a 12v to 12v PC power supply for ~$80 (An M4-ATX) and this was most of the trial & error!

Doghouse organizer/cup holder

I am looking to upgrade the organizer in my MH. I have searched online RV stores and Ebay with no luck.
As you can see in the below picture, there are 2 cup holders. my wife and I both like to have a water bottle (refillable) along with the coffee cup.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-mvViufZKwL0/T5N74HzYNQI/AAAAAAAADV8/_F8S8Lz9-2Y/s800/P1000885.JPG height=640 width=480
Ideally, along with 4 cup openings, I want to keep what is there. The remotes and my cell phone fit in the slots. The Kleenex is a must. A deeper "catchall" tray in the front (where the flashlight is) would be great.
If I had a shop, I would attempt to make one. But a shop is on the wish list...
Has anyone ever seen one commercially made?

RE: House Batteries

My house batteries are not bulging, but are just under 2 years old. They are the ones O'Riley auto sells, 6 volt golf cart batteries (2 of them). I get 13.5 volts from them, but the steps seem to grind slowly when I open the door. When shore power is plugged in, I get 13.64 volts and the steps move more quickly. Is this something to worry about?
Is it these lower cost batteries? They were on sale for $65 each (reg $89?). I am wanting to get the bigger batteries from Costco, but it is not in the budget as I was hoping to get another year or two out of these batteries.
Also, is leaving them on shore power charging not a good idea? I plug in the RV when not in use.

RE: New trailer = Satellite help

In addition to checking the above 2 replies, make sure the coax is RG6. I had this problem and was able to get continuity with a VOM. I just ended up running all new coax and solved my no signal issues.

RE: RV Antenna for wifi to increase the range

John, being a fellow HAM have you tried the Pringles Can-tenna mod?
I use a 2.4 Ghz yaggi I had from a point to point bridge setup. This works great as I have 24db gain. I did have to get an N to SMC pigtail adapter from Ebay to make it work.

RE: $700,000 dollars for a new Prevost chassis!!??

I am convinced that our 1992 P30 chassis and house that cost us $7995 in 2007 rides like a Prevost.
I feel that way about my 1989 P32 and the Prevost doesn't have that Big Block Chevy V8 sound from the 60's and 70's.
And I thought I was the only one that loved that 454 sound in an RV!
But I do wish for an RV with an outdoor kitchen and bunk beds for the boys! By the time I can get one, the kids will be gone...

RE: Weber 566002 Q 220 Gas Grill

The funny things is, on the Virtual Weber Bullet Forum where I hang out, I am a newbie! There is one guy with like 35 kettles of various sizes, colors and ages.

RE: oil change and Lube on gasser

I do most work myself, but for some work I use a Mobile mechanic like Shoreco suggested. His hourly rate is reasonable and he is fast. He also races cars and is fun to talk to! That said, check with your local parts store and ask them who is a good mobile mechanic. I found one that way on a long trip and he came to the RV park. (It turned out to be a loose vacuum hose and was an easy and cheap fix.)

RE: Weber 566002 Q 220 Gas Grill

How does one smoke meat or cook indirectly on a Weber Q? Looks like it is only good for direct grilling to me. I will stick with charcoal.
Very true, you really can't. The Q has it's place, but won't replace charcoal IMO.
I agree. That is why I have more than one grill, they all do different things. I usually travel with the Q and the Jumbo Joe and depending one where I am going, I sometimes take the WSM (smoker) with us too. At home I almost always cook on charcoal. If I had to travel with only 1 grill, it would probably be a standard 22.5" Weber Kettle. You can grill and smoke on it. Smoking takes some practice and patience with a kettle, but it is done all the time.

RE: Weber 566002 Q 220 Gas Grill

Ron3rd, we had our RV and the WSM not too far from you a year and a half ago. We stayed at Jurupa park in Riverside while visiting family. I have a rack on the back that holds the smoker and we introduced my family to good pulled pork that weekend. I love my WSM! My Weber Performer is the only thing that gets used more than my smoker.
