RE: Spending a couple of months in Michigan

Go see shipwreck museum at Whitefish Pt.(east end of UP) and near that area you have to see Taquamenen Falls ( 2 different water falls). I would move once or twice for base camp, lot to see. Also gotta go see the Soo locks in Saulte Saint Marie ("Soo"). Also in LP northwest lot to see.

RE: Best route from Mesa AZ to Albuquerque NM

Now I'm curious what you will finally do!!! I've driven several of the routes mentioned and still prefer Payson-Heber-Holbrook and then I40 east. They have really fixed up the "hill climb" from Payson to Heber,(US260) nice wide road with passing lanes, I think it is now 2 full lanes for the uphill portion. Give us a report after the fact as to what happened????

RE: The company is getting me a new van

20 years ago I had same situation, except opposite happened. I was hauling generally 700-800 lbs of tools and test equipment (electronics) and time for replacement came up.I was driving a Chev suburan (at times not enough room) and ask for a pu w/ enclosed utility box w/bins. expecting 3/4 HD would be great, will that heard the HD part and I wound up w/ 1 ton HD dually with big wide box and 454 engine. Was a little overkill but it got me up and down mtns usually in hi gear and the ride was great with the long wheelbase. After 6-8 months I left the spare tire in the shop, as it was always in the way and if I needed a spare I had 2 extras on the rear axle. Truck was doing great when I retired 6 years later.

RE: Shower surround (wall)

Thanks, I had planned to tighten it all up glues or "what-ever" so it won't flex around so much.

Shower surround (wall)

I need to replace the shower surround wall that is above the tub. I have a big horizontal crack across end section where faucet and control knobs/stems are located. There appears to be big plastic (vinyl) buttons on edges and corners, I assume there is probably screws or some kind of hardware under them they will allow the whole thing to come loose and out. My question is: has anyone here done this repair and where is a good supplier/parts store or web site. This is in a Wildcat 5th wheel, I will have to verify where to measure when I find a vendor. Measurement appears to 39L x 59H and the standard 24 wide. Appreciate any info/help, Thanks.

Camper Insurance

Writing this for my sister: She has an older (97 Dodge) PU w/a newer camper (06 Big Foot I think) 9-9 1/2 ft cabover. She is now carrying only liability (required) Ins. on the PU and nothing on the camper. Question is will Good Sams or any similar Co. quote a decent rate on the camper only? Main concern would be a fire that would take both units out. Looking for any info/experience that might help before contacting GS or other Co.s.

RE: Excellent Customer Service from Tire Rack

Kind of like taking your bacon and eggs into a resturant and asking them to cook them for you.

RE: San Diego to Denver in February

I15 and I70 in Utah can be a problem if it storms and of course I70 over Vail and Eisenhower tunnel in Co., and least you should have chains for a 2w truck and some weight. NM is smart way.

RE: Tonneau covers

I have had the soft cover x-tang for 8 yrs and works best for me. I flipped the pull handle on the 5r hitch so it is below the cover. When i don't have hitch installed, I may leave cover off, moving furniture, hauling trash, gravel etc. A few times I've had to haul large stuff unexpected, roll up cover and stow bows in cab.In the winter with hitch removed I use a sheet of wafer board with cleetes on each end to match height of hitch rails,(1")this gives me a clean level bed floor and covered all winter. Would get the cover w/velcro though, as I have the snap buttons and in cold weather it is difficult to stretch.

Evening news just announced Verizon is dropping that $2 fee, seems there was an "uprising" among their customers.

RE: Change from Analog to Digital Service

I have a converter box that can be switched back and forth from digital to analog (pass thru) from a remote. In some areas there are still analog transmitters, (repeaters, translators, etc.) that weren't required to change over for a few more years. Usually in sparse rural areas. Mine has a pre-amp, not sure if basic (plain) converter has that or the remote switch for D-A. I ordered mine on line after researching spec's.

RE: Colorado Travel Routes in May

US550 will have a of chance of avalanches then, usually controlled, which means hiwa will be closed for "shooting" the slides.
