RE: Need new tires - what about new rims?

If your not changing tire sizes and they are in good shape, have them powder coated. Sandblasting is part of the process, that will take care of any rust. Plus you can choose a different color if you don't want white again and at fraction of the cost of new rims.

RE: CAREFREE AWNING PROBLEM

Had my vinyl replaced this month and the guys that installed it removed the little plastic awn-hangers for the lights. They were always pushed to one end and caused the awning to roll-up a little askew, according to the installers. Without the hangers the awning rolls up nice and tight on both ends now. They suggested removing them before each roll-up.
So I told the DW the installers said don't install lights on the awning it causes problems. hehe

RE: Need to replace rubber roof

I realize your not in SoCal but I have seen a new process using Rhino Liner sprayed on the roof. A place here in SD does it, and it is backed by Rhino Liner. So you might check around in your area, seems like it would solve a lot roof related problems.

RE: Is bigger really always better.

That's one of the reasons we have both. When we need room, haul toys or camp with a larger group we take the 5th TH. When we want to get away on the spur of the moment or travel lite we take the TC. The best of both worlds IMHO.

RE: Pet owners warning

Glad to hear your dog is OK. Our neighbor wasn't so lucky last year, both his dogs got biten by a baby rattler. He didn't realize both had been bitten at first, rushed the one that had signs of a bite to the Vet and by time he got home his other dog had lapsed into a coma and died on the way to Vet. All this happened in our neighorhood on a nature trail. So here in SoCal it can happen anywere, after all this is a semi-desert area.

RE: Hitching/Unhitching Clarification Needed

All be it I feel extra measure of comfort if I have the visible gap between plate and pin.
You don't need an airgap in fact sometimes that may cause a bind.
I lift the trailer until I get the most of load off the truck usually no more squat. Then release the hitch and drive out from under the pin.

RE: Hitching/Unhitching Clarification Needed

Here's what I do when the hitch gets in a bind. Stabilze the trailer, landing down to desired height to unhitch, wheels chocked. Hop in the truck put it put in netural and release the parking brake, the truck will usually find a netrual "spot" and then the hitch will release. This routine works 99% of the time for me, if the truck and trailer are on fairly level ground. If truck is uphill or down then it may require abit more jocking to get it to release.
Best way to avoid Hi-Hitching is do it the truckers way, the pin is slightly lower than the hitch, when backing under the pin the hitch slides under the pin slightly squatting the truck as it connects.

RE: Hunting for a replacement Cat back exhaust kit

I looked up Gibson. Checked MBRP they only go back to 94. I put in your sig specs and it seems a little pricey @$386.04 single exhaust, maybe the local auto parts house could be cheaper.
You sure you put them in right? I have the V8 5.9L vs the I6 5.9L Cummins, as far as I can tell, Gibson only sells diesel exhausts.
Sorry about that, it is diesel only. Looks like Dodge with a gas motor is hard to fit in those years. I will keep checking, I have a few connections in the auto parts arena, I will check with.

RE: Hunting for a replacement Cat back exhaust kit

If you want to lose the Cat, Hooker Headers #520-16652 kit replaces the entire system manifold back for $202. Probably won't do if you are in a smog zone requiring inspections.

RE: I know this might be a stupid question but....

Mine has 2 one left side one right side. I use the left side to access my pigtail for the camper. The right stores anything I don't mind getting wet or dirty, because it is somewhat open to the elements.
I do like the idea of extra insulation, I may do that too.

RE: Truck Cap Camping

That was our first truck camper type camping. Had a Dodge D-50 with a Callen camper shell and carpet kit. Slid the middle section up to meet the sides to make an area under to carry all of the other camping stuff. Spent many nights out in the SoCal desert with this setup. Augh the good ole days...thanks for the memory.

RE: HELP POWER ISSUE!! AND ITS COLD

I would look at the breakers and all of your GFCI outlets, most likly one has tripped, killing all of your AC. If all are good (reset) then time to get out the multimeter and check for incoming power and power at the breaker box and work your way back.

RE: 2007 Used WW FS2300 Billet or What Else?

I am with Hap, my WW has been great no real problems to speak of. The normal RV type stuff caulking/sealing stuff and tires. Sofar mine is aging well and it doesn't get covered or live in a shed. It does get a bath every month (weather permitting) and a waxing yearly. WW did make a good trailer (was the number 1 TH for several years), they did have some problems in the latter years, but that is well documented too.

RE: Why are we addicted to this site?

I joined when we bought our first Lance camper, now 2 trucks, 2 campers and a 5th wheel TH later, I'm still here. Still the best RVing site around.
