RE: Homemade wine...cheap, easy and not too darn bad!

As a slight highjack to the thread. I remember years ago in the Italian section of the city you'd see tanker trucks around September. They'd haul in grape juice for the older generation to make their homemade wine. We're not talking about a gallon or two. Some of these folks would run batches in the 100-500 gallon range. Some were delicious and other were down right nasty. I had an uncle that used to make what he called "sneaky pete". Great and easy drinking, but you haad to watch how much you drank as it would put you under the table almost without knowing it. :)My mom and Dad grew rhubarb and made wine and beer in our garage when I was young. They would have a couple of glasses of that and couldn't remember anything after that. They didn't pass out, just blacked out I guess!

RE: Northern Idaho Boondocking Spot Offered

This is a very generous offer! You might want to join Boondockers Welcome It's a new network forming for people willing to do just what you're offering. ETA: Sorry, wrong clicky link. Fixed now.Go to Boondockers welcome. Click on a location and then the name of the person when it comes up click on the name of that person and it will say age range.

RE: Northern Idaho Boondocking Spot Offered

Why would you have to be in a certain age range?

Inverter working!

HAPPY DAYS. My mechanic after I asked him again if he may have put the cables back on wrong, he took the manuals and studied them. He got it going. I asked him what he did and he would only say the cables. So I assume he did have them on wrong. We have a language barrier and I was not going to question him further.;) I want to thank all of you for your help and patience, I learn a lot from this forum. This is where I learned about inverters to start with. Thank you again.....Linda

RE: Desperate need of low sodium lunch idea and recipes please!

Bread is high in sodium, you can buy lower sodium still kinda high. Ezekiel 4:9 Bread is NO sodium. Not sure if it is available outside of California. What a strange name. I will be in Ca. next month any suggestions at which stores might carry it? The name comes right out of the Bible. The Bakery is in Corona and it is available at Trader Joes, sprouts and most of the majors.:) I just bought some last night at Vons - it's in the freezer section. There are also bagels, english muffins, millet, whole wheat. Another brand is Udi.Is it pretty good bread? OK for sandwiches? Last but not least, did you like it?

RE: Desperate need of low sodium lunch idea and recipes please!

I learned the hard way about sodium in chili powder. I remember reading this years ago but forgot. The chili powder I used had 55mg. of sodium in a 1/4 tsp. My other one made by a different co. had only ten. I threw the high sodium one away. My deviled eggs taste really salty to me.

RE: inverter

your looking at the "remote" switch panel do you know where the inverter is loacted ? storage bay, under the bed ? under a closet or the fridge ? can you get any model numbers from the front or rear face plate it would help greatly also full model number description of your rexall another member might have info regarding options & equipment are your 12v lights, water pump, fridge etc.. still working ? iF so then the batteries are being charged this could be a stand alone inverter or a combo charger/inverter with the transfer switch/relay stuck so it does not go to inverter modeStorage bay, Its called a Freedom 458 series combi inverter charger. model number 20 part No.81-2010-12 Rexall Airbus. I don't think the unit came with the mh. 1st owner had it installed. 12v working. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more and I will try to find it. Thank you very much..Linda

RE: inverter

A lot of the higher end units are combination inverter/chargers. She may have one of those. It's connected directly to the battery. Its an Inverter not the combination. Not according to that statement, which was said twice. It could be both. I've been trying to find some paperwork on it to find out.

RE: inverter

It is an inverter and the panel lights up when the gen is on and not otherwise! You really need to check some voltages like the DC input to the inverter, the AC output from the inverter. We also need to know if it's a combo inverter/charger unit (because those will have a DC output AND an AC output...need voltages of those outputs). Make and model would help greatly. There really isn't enough info to help honestly. If you're not comfortable with working on electrical devices, contact a RV repair shop ASAP to get this resolved quickly so you can get back on the road.I am in Mx.So must do the best I can. They are very good mechanics but do not understand inverters. I know of an American guy that will come to the mh and hopefully know what to do.

RE: inverter

Linda, please define your statement "Will Not Come On" Do you mean you have AC power at the outlets when the generator is running, (YES OR NO) but... No power at the AC outlets when the generator is shut down, (YES OR NO) AND AT THIS SAME TIME... There are lights glowing on the inverter control panel (YES OR NO)? Thank YouYes,yes and yes

RE: inverter

the inverter works with the gen on I don't know if it is charging the batteries or not... I am now lost. Me too. You just said it was an inverter. a) inverters aren't supposed to 'work' when another AC source is on (gen) b) they don't charge batteries. It is an inverter and the panel lights up when the gen is on and not otherwise!

Hi Linda, To the 12 volt connections on the Inverter. Don't apologize for asking questions--that makes you SMART not thick.Thank you:)

RE: inverter

Hi Linda, Because for some reason the inverter is not connecting to the "house" battery bank. Do you have a volt meter that you can use to help trouble shoot? I'm not trying to do anything but figure out why the inverter does not work. Why does it show that it is on when the gen is on if it is unplugged?I have a volt meter but dont know what to connect it to. Sorry to be so thick but my husband used to take care of all of this.

RE: inverter

do you mean the pass thru power works when the generator is on but there is no inverter power to the outlets when the generator is off? does it charge the batteries when the generator is running..? if yes then some inverter control settung needs to be reset or turned back on If not charging a cable is disconnected or fuse is blownYes the inverter works with the gen on I don't know if it is charging the batteries or not. I will have to call someone as I am now lost. Dont know where to reset anything. The fuse I know is ok

RE: Desperate need of low sodium lunch idea and recipes please!

I've been getting this newsletter,LowSodiumCooking.com, for years......Lots of great ideas and recipes! I never add any salt to my cooking, or meals, though I don't go crazy avoiding it either. There is usually plenty in most processed foods to begin with. Something to think about too..... The iodine in salt is good for you, so you shouldn't avoid it, with the non-iodized salts products out there. I forget just what we need it for, but we do....so some salt is actually good for us:) Good luck with the LSC site, the guy that runs it is very knowledgeable, and helpful.:)This is a really good site. Thank you
