RE: Planning vacation near Dollywood TN - Aug 20th

I have stayed at the KOA in Pigeon Forge. Next door to Patriot Park which has the main hub for the trolley system and very close to Dollywood. The trolley goes by a lot of the campgrounds but takes you to the hub to change to the Dollywood line. Pigeon Forge Trolley Jim

RE: Please wash your hands

After I dump I use my nose as a guide that my hands need washing. If my nose starts to itch then my hands must be filthy.:E Jim

RE: Best Parks in the Keys

The best is Blue Water Key and is at mm-15 (downtown Key West is mm-0) I have stayed at Geiger Key which is at mm-10. Its is not nearly as nice as Blue Water but its more of a laid back park. They have an on-site open air restaurant and bar and your dog is welcome. Its for the folks that like to mingle with the other folks as well as the locals. Good location for fishing and they can arrange guides to pick you up, or fish on-site. Jim :C

RE: Almost No Hot Water to Shower

Your hot water valve at your shower may be bad and restricting the flow or the line feeding it has a kink. Jim

RE: Gulf Coast of Everglades National Park

Naples would make a good home base. Its only 2 hrs across the Everglades to Miami Beach. So you can see all the Everglades on day trips. And only an hour to Sanibel Island for shell gathering on the beach. Jim :C

RE: Poor quality construction

I have seen some of the Amish woodwork and it is very well done. I think the RV manufacturers take advantage of the Amish name to sell their crappy products. Jim :C

RE: New Orleans to The Woodlands TX

Headed to Montana next month from Orange, Texas. I will be taking I-10 to Beaumont and then take Hwy 90 to the Beltway 8. Almost no traffic from Beaumont to Barrett. I take this route by car to visit friends in Crosby. 1960 between Huffman and I-45 is usually a nightmare. I can not find out how to handle tolls on the Beltway 8. There are no manned toll booths on the north east side. Been told they will snap the license plate and sent me a bill with a small up charge. Also been told that I should exit off Beltway 8 prior to the cameras and get on the feeder roads. Feeder roads are almost all 2 lanes and in good shape.. Now sure how I will handle that. Do not run through the toll booths. There is a major fine. The feeder roads should have less traffic since the beltway will take a lot of it. Someone posted on this subject this past Month and had a link to the Toll site. Jim :C

RE: New Orleans to The Woodlands TX

Just plan for traffic any time you're around Houston. It will help you avoid disappointment. If you can make the trip on a weekend, that might help. Or in the middle of the night. I-10 west of Lafayette isn't exactly a picnic either. You shouldn't hit traffic unless there's a wreck or construction, but unless something has changed recently, the road is incredibly bad. We've never traveled with our trailer over there, but it's noticably bumpy in a regular car. Our kids hate traveling on most of I-10 through LA because the bumps are so bad the DVD player starts over at the beginning about every 5 minutes or so. We always have to do something else for entertainment. I'm full of good news and cheer, aren't I? You must not have be on I-10 in a few years. Almost everything West of Lafayette has been rebuilt and is very nice. Just a section of a couple miles from the Lake Charles bridge and even some of that has been repaired this year. Also still a bad section East of Lafayette. Jim :C

RE: Flat tire!

well, aside from leaving greasy paw prints all over the rear/side of the rv, and obvious OJT for the kid that came out with the "pro", and trying to jack the wheels back on with the nuts without lining up the pin with the hole, it went ok. i gotta get me a bottle jack and breaker bar...I think after that, I'd be looking for a bottle OF Jack.:B I thought he said "get a bottle of Jack at a biker bar". That's probably what I would have done. :B Jim

RE: Camping World working to fix customer service reputation?

If I remember correctly Marcus has been the CEO of Camping World for many years. It is only recently that CW has merged with Good Sam (formally Affinity Group) and he is now CEO of the combined company. Yes he has made some good changes in the new company and time will tell if he gets it back on tract. Jim :C

RE: Coupler Problem

Look at Walmart or auto parts store for Blaster PB. It is a very good penetrating oil. Spray it from underneath and through the top and soak everything in the coupler. Let it sit about an hour. Jim

RE: Road conditions I-59 Birmingham to Chattanooga, TN

If you have time and like a more serine drive take HWY-11. Good 2 lane with a few small towns and open country. You can pick it up from I-459 or get on it at Gadsden and back on I-59 at Ft Payne. If I remember correctly the bad section of I-59 is between Gadsden and Ft Payne. Jim :C

RE: Walmart Maxx 24DC Battery _ Seems Good

Hi All, Just out at my local Walmart, they have a battery labeled Maxx 24DC Deep Cycle for trolling, etc. It is 94 amp hours and has a 2 year replacement warranty. Sticker says it is good for 30% more cycles (than the normal Everstart Marine I assume). Price is $79. In my searching for RV batteries, this one does not look too bad? Interesting if you go to the website, and search for MAXX deap cycle batteries, the picture is of a MS model (I assume that means marine start?)not the one in the store. You all's thoughts? I just bought that same unit yesterday. I normally use full hookups so it is fine for my needs when on the road. Jim

RE: Surge protectors?

I have the Progressive Industries EMS unit. http://www.progressiveindustries.net/ems_pt30c.htm Their are two type of protection. The basic Surge Protector which gives you protection from spikes only and the EMS unit that handles spikes but also handles high and low voltage and checks for miss-wired power. I see they now have Lifetime warranty. Great company. Jim :C

RE: Auto Renewal? Charge much more than LY?

If you were renewing for $79 GS was making a mistake. The $79 is a discount rate for new members and then should have gone to the regular rate that was $109 but may be $112 now. You just got lucky on the old renewals. Jim :C

RE: Norton

I always watch the sales. I have gotten NIS 3-pc versions for FREE the last 2 years. The main rebate is for a previous user and just use the front page of the user manual or copy of old receipt. Jim
