RE: Yellowing of plastics, rubber, and why?

I got tired of using Awesome cleaner which only lasted a little while. I bought some Krylon white paint for plastic and painted all my yellowing areas. The frig vent, the stove vent, the trim around the door window, and the A/C covers. They don't yellow any more and now always appear new. Just tape off the areas and paint away.

RE: Cancelling our reservation at Fort Clinch CG in July (beach)

Sorry you will miss out. We pull into the beach-side campground July 15 for a week. First time in awhile because it's been closed to build a new bathhouse. I don't really like Fort Clinch but the Boss loves it, so here we come.

RE: Blue Ridge Parkway w/ 43' Class A & Toad ?

I have driven it's entire length pulling my 35' fifthwheel. Not too many elevations changes and plenty of pullouts. We started in Cherokee and got off the Sky Line Drive in Front Royal Virginia. We took 4 days to cover the entire distance and took in all the sites and many of the hikes along the way.

RE: Georgia on my mind

We have enjoyed Georgia State Parks for many years. Site specific reservations are not needed although we would love to see all the parks go back to a color system of site sizes. My favorites are Cloudland Canyon, Red Top Mountain, and FDR. I don't care for Vogel's cluster camping with a "large rig", and difficult to maneuver road.

RE: Oil Level for ABS

ABS,? Anti-lock braking system doesn't use oil. Some type of brake fluid I would imagine.

RE: mounting tv

I would have mounted mine flush with the TV hole but the slide would not clear coming in. With this big of TV, I had very few options. http://inlinethumb55.webshots.com/49654/2671380430087256274S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb08.webshots.com/49287/2893542140087256274S600x600Q85.jpg

RE: mounting tv

I recently mounted a 37" TV on the luan paneling in our square TV box, no studs. Glued and screwed to the walls. I used 3/4" plywood along the right side wall and 1x2 braces across the top. I then used a multi-angle mounting bracket on the plywood. The large slide comes in to cover the TV with about 4" clearance. I put a bath mat in the bottom of the cabinet to cousin bumps. This is our 5th trip with the mount and all seems well. http://inlinethumb55.webshots.com/49654/2671380430087256274S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb54.webshots.com/49845/2757384870087256274S600x600Q85.jpg

RE: Setting up B&W Companion Hitch

I have had my companion for several years and it's always been mounted on the rubber mat. I just cut a hole for the ball opening with a hole saw. Sorry for the dim picture but we are now camping and the green shade is a tarp covering my firewood. http://inlinethumb27.webshots.com/7386/2006058970087256274S600x600Q85.jpg

RE: RV Park in Savannah, Georgia

IF you are only wanting full hook up that is very close to Savannah, try Hardeeville RV, just over the Talmadge bridge in SC. Free cable, free wi-fi, no frills, just a clean safe place with full hookup to stay less than 15 minutes from downtown. When you leave this place going back to Savannah in less than 10 minutes you are crossing the river at the state line and can see downtown. I used this as a home-base to stay in while moving from the Atlanta area to get back home. Check the reviews online. X2

RE: RV Carport - Purchase?

If you have slides on both sides, you should spend the difference for an 18' wide one. 12' tall is at the eves so your height should be fine. Mine is 13' at the eves and 40'X 18'. Installed price with building permit was $3,861.75 http://inlinethumb34.webshots.com/47713/2895061730087256274S600x600Q85.jpg

RE: Help adding second AC

If you have a vent already installed, it will be easy. I installed a second A/C in my fifthwheel a few years back. Just removed a vent in the bedroom and in she went. The vent happened to be framed so the worst problem was done. I ran the wire from the A/C down into an adjacent closet then into a GE plastic electric box with a 20 amp breaker. I continued with 10-3 cable from the box down into the basement then through conduit to the driver side. I terminated the cable in a flush mount male 15 amp water proof receptacle and box. When I get to any campground, I can hook up my 12-3, 25' extension cord to the campground pedestal 20 amp and run the front A/C and the 30 amp shore cord runs the 15,000 main unit. I have since installed 2 additional duplex receptacles in the bedroom area to an additional ground fault breaker in that same GE box. I can run an additional 1500 watt heater up there during the winter without taxing the 30 amp service. http://inlinethumb26.webshots.com/49689/2269060000087256274S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb58.webshots.com/50169/2435212020087256274S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb52.webshots.com/48883/2434078850087256274S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb63.webshots.com/49278/2910862900087256274S600x600Q85.jpg http://inlinethumb63.webshots.com/47230/2932612180087256274S600x600Q85.jpg

RE: Florida Inspection Stations

RV's are not required to stop at Florida inspection/agricultural or weigh stations. All commercial vehicles, or private vehicles transporting produce or livestock and rental trucks do have to stop.

RE: Applying Red Max

Make sure you use a white microvfiber towel' the colot will bleed. I used a blue micro fiber towel from a large pack purchased at Sam's Club with no problems. It probably wouldn't hurt to test the applicator. This stuff great for a boat or other type surface where one has waxed/compounded only to have the dull finish return in a few days. Had it on my fifth wheel over a year without a problem..

RE: Red Max 3 ??

It has no UV protection and tends to yellow, so putting several coats on a white RV may make it a shiny yellow-tinted RV. But having said that; it is shiny, durable, cheap, simple and easy to apply. After a year in the Florida sun, can't see any yellowing or damage, only a showroom shine on an old RV.

RE: Tampa Area/Busch Gardens Campground

We stayed many times at Happy Traveler while or son was attending USF. We found it convenient, and the closest to Busch Gardens. As said, is an older campground but clean and secure. All visitors should remember Busch Gardens is no longer associated with Anheuser Busch but owned by the parent company of Sea World which I think has really gone downhill.

RE: Red Max Pro#3 Question?

Ours has lasted over a year so far so good. Florida sun doesn't seem to make any difference.

RE: Blue Ridge Parkway

I say don't do it especially in a MH or trailer. The Blue Ridge Parkway is suited for short trips not through trips. The speed limit is 35 MPH and especially in N Carolina there are many ups and downs. I would use the Blue Ridge Parkway for daytrips. On the contrary, I found it to be an outstanding trip with very few drastic changes in elevation. We traveled from Cherokee all the way, then Skyline Drive, to Front Royal. I found the Blue Ridge segment much less curvy than Skyline Drive but both were a real treat. We exited nightly to stay in various campgrounds a few days before we continued north. No clearance issues even at 13'2". Vertical tunnel height is at the fog line not the center.

RE: 5% credit on gas purchase

Use a walmart gift card at Murphy station and get 3cents off a gallon. It is now 3 cents off on the gift card. I use the Walmart Discover to book campsites and buy gas at Murphys. Gives me a 5 cent break per gallon and 1% cash back on other purchases. No fees either. If on the road and can't get into a Walmart, I use Pilot stations with my debit card and get the cash price.
