RE: Want Dish Network @home too

Call Dish's RV specific department, 1-888-309-0370, and ask them how to do it. They're very helpful, and should be able to set you up with what you want.
Incorrect..... The RV dept does not have a direct number. You will need to call 1-800-333-3474 and ask for the RV assistance.
Also, I am not allowed to remove any of our 3 receivers away from the home. Dish again advised that our contract does not permit that..... although the tech was honest to tell me that they have no way to track them.
You can get their Dish Network RV receiver for a one time fee of $40. It is a Model 211. For $499 you can purchase the complete package which includes, a KingDome tracking dish (one LMB), a mount, the receiver and cable. This dish will capture 110, 119, and 129 automatically. Sounds like a great idea as the cheapest Winegard CARRY OUT is over $600.

RE: Want Dish Network @home too

First the caution: DO NOT TELL DISH. (they will want to bill you for a 2nd account)
We have 3 receivers in the house. I was told by Dish Network that I could not remove any of the receivers from the home address shown on the contract. If I wanted to take one of the receivers in my RV, I would have to open another account :M

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

Incredible torque on that motor :E
Surprised you noticed. When I put my landing gear up this pin caught on the frame and bent it over. I was at the dunes so I had to grind the pin off.then had to removed the foot and used that pin to hold the leg up. I got another pin and learned to have the head of the pin on the frame side. Not fun laying in the sand on your back with a grinder. I'm just lucky someone in my group had one. There's one in my tool box now.

RE: The Best Toyhauler Manufacturer IMHO

On Saturday, I got a phone call from the former owner of R V Service Repair of Santa Cruz. I have known him for years and he's worked on every kind of recreational vehicle made since the 1960's
About a month ago, I had given him a tour of my Attitude. He checked it out for me just for fun and I also wanted to get his thoughts doing some modifications.
He called me yesterday to thank me....... he and his wife just ordered a new 2013 Attitude FL28AKLG :C

RE: The Best Toyhauler Manufacturer IMHO

Just curious: What makes your manufacturer "the best". You said your Attitude is "top of the line". Not that I doubt your assessment, but I am curious what criteria did you used and how long did it take you to do your assessment of all manufacturers.
I should have written the subject as: One of The Best Toyhauler Manufacturers IMHO
We've owned 8 RV's since since we decided that tent camping was not working for us anymore. That included 1 trailer, 2 motorhomes, 3 Lance campers and 2 Weekend Warriors. After selling our last rig (the WW LE3305), we really wanted to purchase a quality rig at a reasonable cost. In 2011 we went to 2 large RV shows as well as inspecting all the different models at numerous dealers.
For the price and floor plan, I liked Forest River too, however we wanted a full queen bed VS the RV queen that FR offered.
I visited the Riverside plant where the Attitudes are built and I liked what I saw.
Toyhaulers have come a long way and there are other manufacturers that build quality rigs. But we really think we made a great choice with this Attitude.
I had previously written after purchasing it:
Diana and I did a lot of traveling and went to a couple of RV shows to make up our minds. We kicked the tires on these brands..... This is our third toyhauler, so we pretty familiar as to what's good and what's not good.
Rubicon
Raptor
Cyclone
Shockwave
Stealth
We went with the Attitude for these reasons:
Excellent quality in exterior an interior construction
Aluminum framing
It only weighs 7800 pounds
Real wood cabinets
Wiring is top notch
The underbelly was really well done. No short cuts taken
Finish caulking was perfect through out the rig (inside and exterior)
Corion counter top
Stainless steel kitchen sink
Full queen in front...... not an RV Queen
Lots of storage
Commander fits nice inside
6' 9" of height when the rear bed is raised to the top.
13 feet of from ramp to the first lower cabinet.
Over all, it is an extremely well built toyhauler.

Which dealer did you purchase through that you would not recommend?
I had a bad experience, but I don't think it's appropriate bash the dealer or salesman on this forum. I'm sure the dealership has lots of happy customers. I didn't care for the salesman that I bought my truck from either........ but I love my truck and my TH :B

The Best Toyhauler Manufacturer IMHO

We have owned our Attitude TH for about 8 months and have hauled it over over 6000 miles of both highway and rough trails. We've owned 2 Weekend Warriors previously and by far, this Attitude has been top of the line in regards to quality and function. I loved my WW rigs, but as you may know, they have had issues.
There are not too many toyhauler manufacturers left in the game because of the economy and the law of supply and demand. However, I really believe that this has put pressure on those existing TH companies to make a superior quality product. I don't have positive things to say about my salesman, however…….. this TH manufacturer is top of the line IMHO! We purchased the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG.
If you are looking for a new TH, do your homework, look at the interior trim, look under the rig…….. look at the finish detail. And of course, make sure you find a reputable and honest dealer.
My rig…..

RE: Accessing The Fuel Filter - Onan 4000 Generator

Question: Do you add any sealant to the filter output threads?
I didn't when I replaced mine; I tightened it down too. Later, I smelled gas... and guess what? it was leaking. So... I had to go back and do it all over, this time I used fuel resistant teflon tape & reinstalled it. No leak since then.
I didn't see any sealant or tape on the OEM filter I removed, so I didn't put anything on the new one. Here is what the service manual says:
Fuel Filter
Change the fuel filter at the interval recommended in the Operator’s Manual, or if performance problems occur and bad fuel is suspected.
WARNING Fuel presents the hazard of fire or explosion that can cause severe personal injury or death. Do not permit any flame, spark, pilot light, cigarette, arc-producing equipment, electrical switch, or other ignition source near the fuel system. Keep a type ABC fire extinguisher nearby.
1. Close the fuel supply valve (if equipped) or remove
the fuel line from the fuel filter. Plug the
end of the fuel line to prevent fuel leakage and
vapor accumulation.
2. Run the genset until it runs out of fuel. Allow the
genset to cool down before replacing the fuel
filter.
3. Use a deep 11/16-inch socket to unscrew the
filter from the fuel pump.
4. Install a new fuel filter and tighten it securely to
prevent fuel leakage.
5. Connect the fuel line to the new filter. Open the
fuel valve (If equipped). Start the genset and
check for fuel leaks. Repair any leaks immediately.
CAUTION Incorrect replacement of service
parts can result in damage to equipment. Use
genuine Onan replacement fuel filter only.

RE: Accessing The Fuel Filter - Onan 4000 Generator

Done.....
The best way was to unbolt the generator and slide it out just enough to access the filter. Once I had it unscrewed, I still had to remove it through the front.

RE: Accessing The Fuel Filter - Onan 4000 Generator

I can't tell if there is an access panel from the pics but couldn't you slide the whole thing out and support it on a platform while you remove the filter. Mine has 4 mounting bolts on the underside and it appears as tho there is a lot of slack in the wiring.
good luck
Mine has only 2 bolts attaching it to the compartment floor.......
I think my best option is to do as you recommend. Unbolt the generator, slide it forward and get access to change out the fuel filter. It only weighs 175 pounds. Then install an inline filter and never monkey with the OEM again.

Accessing The Fuel Filter - Onan 4000 Generator

The Onan 4000 fuel filter is buried in the generator cabinet as well as the toyhauler compartment. What is the easiest way to access and change this fuel filter?

New Onan 4000 Generator Question

We have a Onan 4000 gas generator in our 2012 5th wheel toyhauler. It has about 11 hours on it and since we have had the rig the generator consistently has problems starting and initial running.
I prime it, crank it…. no start. I prime it again, crank it and it starts. When the engine does start, it surges (accelerating and decelerating) for about 15 minutes and then finally runs smooth, settling on a stable operating speed. I was hoping that after breaking it in, this problem would resolve itself. Has anyone experienced this issue? or is this a normal event?
I don't believe I have a varnishing issue, as this problem existed since we first ran new gas through it.
Thanks

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

I have nothing but praise for the service provided by Attitude. There were a few minor warranty items and they they handled them immediately.
The Attitude factory is a buzz of activity. They have lots of people employed at their large facility in Riverside. It appears that they are one productive and a growing company in this hopefully improving California economy.

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

Racorman, nice upgrades. Thanks for the pictures. I'm looking at putting a cabinet door on there also. There's not much room in the kitchen cabinets as it is. Nice place to thow extra paper towls etc. Did you get the color of the new door to match? did you get the color from the factory?
I'm looking at putting an inverter in also. I just haven't found one that I want (2000w pure sign) at a decent price. Not sure where I'll put it but there's plenty of room. I like how you mounted it overhead.
The cabinet maker made the door exactly the same size and style and matched the finish. It was just over $100 It might be cheaper to order a door from the factory, however you'll need to have the side pieces made and stained also. For me it was best to have it done locally and the stain match was perfect.
I bought the Xantrex pure sine 2000 watt inverter at West Marine for $370. Also, try to keep the inverter as close as you can to the batteries..... that's why I mounted it where I did.
Also, consider building a shelf mid way inside the right and left side cabinets..... you'll almost double your storage :W
Love this rig.......

RE: Does anyone else own the 2012 Attitude FL28AKLG

1) battery frame was too small to fit batteries in (really?). This was an odd mistake as the angle iron was 1/4" to narrow to accept a battery. I left them as is and modified the compartment to hold 3 batteries.they fit nicely and in the future I'll be looking for a way to get a 4th in there.
(2)has anyone installed an inverter? If so where did you mount it and did you tie it directly into the converter?
3) what's up with the huge inaccesable void above the refrigerator? It looks like the front cabinet is glued on and there is no way to get in there without destroying the front panel. Has anyone got in there and utilize the space?
4) what's up with the huge waste of space above the generator? Look up and to the left when in your battery compartment and you'll see what I mean. Has anyone found a use for this yet?
Here is the link showing how I installed (4) 6 volt batteries:
http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25429752.cfm
I mounted my 2000 watt pure sine inverter right behind the batteries:
http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25426530.cfm
I pulled that panel off above the refrigerator and had a local cabinet company make a door. I turned that space into a nice sized cabinet.
I store extra water jugs in that area next to the generator

Can A 3/4 ton PU Carry A 11' 6" Lance Camper

I own a Lance Camper Fiberglass model 1130. The dry weight is about 3000 pounds.
I carry it in my 1 ton pick up. Several people who own 3/4 ton pick-ups have asked me if this camper would be too heavy for their truck, even with air bags.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Expanding the Toyhauler Kitchen

The wife was complaining that the new rig does not have enough drawers in the kitchen......
Well, there is this big open area next to the front door and I decided that this mod would be kind of a compromise.
It's bolted to the wall and I've added a cutting board.
If I'm lucky, I might be able to call one of the draws mine :B

=Racorman I just finished building out the battery cabinet to accomodate (4) six volt batteries and also installed a 2000 watt inverter.
Question: did you have to add any support in the tray, or did the four six volt batteries fit in the orginal space?
Thanks
Yup...... I needed to do some modification and add additional support to hold the (4) 6 volt Interstates
