RE: Diesel vs gas......................

My 2010 F250 is a monster and I love it. Faster than my 370Z except for top speed...

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

How much money would it cost to get a 5.4L to 580hp/1150tq reliably?

RE: Under 5000lb Bunkhouse Model Needed to tow with New Explorer

A 2800lb bunkhouse trailer with accommodations for 6? What is it made of... unobtanium?

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

100% dependent on the vehicle...worth noticeable power and mileage on some, no change on others. If all you do is install a CAI, I stand by my original statement. The ECU in a naturally aspirated vehicle will not take advantage of the increased airflow and in most cases, will adjust fueling to negate it.

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

Thinking about puting a K&N cold air induction kit on it has anyone tried this and does it work? You won't notice much without other engine mods...

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

I don't need a diesel truck every day, but for the times when I'm towing, I'm glad I have one.

RE: GasBuddy Predicts Record Gas Prices this Summer

Gas prices don't have anything to do with any crisis. Gas prices will rise based on the consumer perception that a crisis limits production and delivery which is not true. Our short term memory fails us as every year we go through this, as the news and oil industry perpetuate the myth, therefore the perception, that the "fill in the blank" crisis in the middle east, which by the way hasn't even happened yet, every year, will be responsible for soaring prices. No, by spreading and planting the seed, prices will rise solely based on greed. Questions to ask: How is it that this happens every year, are these people psychics? It's only January and we are being told about prices this summer... Yeah that's surely based on someone getting their feelings hurt in the middle east. How long does it take for a barrel of oil to become gasoline at the pump? Because as soon a something happens that the media jumps all over, gas prices immediately change. A prime indicator that the change is not supply or demand based.

RE: truck bed length

I don't see the reasoning behind a short bed dually, but so be it. Long bed all the way, as the others have said. I have a 6.75' bed and I don't fit in parking spots, and I don't mind a bit. Yeah, I'm the guy that takes up more than one spot every time... get ya some.

RE: Help! My town doesn't like my new toy!

Yeah, where I am all trailers, boats, etc. have to be behind an imaginary line of the front wall of the house extended. Since I live on a corner, I can 'legally' park my trailer on the side of my house, behind this line, which actually faces the main street. Instead, I park the 3 trailers I have in the back corner of my back yard. As a side note, we have already decided that our next house will be HOA-free.

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

You drive any diesel with only 5500 lbs and you should see mileage in the 13-14 range. Maybe higher. Not mine.

RE: Keystone Bullet Premier

There is a new 2011 31BHPR that is being "Blown Out" for a asking price of $24.5K. Yeah, it's good. The 2012 models are going for $30K+ on sale.

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

I said not as much as YOU think. And also said the newer systems, the refined systems, you drive an 08 thats not the newer systems. The newer systems are fine tuned much better, GM has added a 9th injector now to reduce fuel usage for the active regens of which fewer are required due to the engine being able to run hotter and more efficient thanks to the SCR system cleaning up the high NOX levels created from an engine running in that state. The LMLs are getting fuel economy similar to LBZs, is that great? Not the best, but way better than the LMMs, and your getting 115ft-lb more torque and 47 more hp (than the LBZ) Well since I drive a 2010, I'm pretty sure that qualifies as NEWER, though not necessarily NEW. I don't spend much time THINKING about how much fuel I use for regen, I KNOW. Now if you want to give proper credit for reduced NOx levels, then that would be due to the use of the SCR and DEF, which hit the streets in 2010 for MY2011. The DPF is for soot, not the same animal as the SCR and the DPF is responsible for fuel consumption due to regen. Now if you care to share the details of how the DPF systems have been improved since 2008, we would certainly love to hear it. IMO, any fuel used to clean the DPF is wasted. Especially when you consider about 1 regen per tank, highway use. Time for some mods, and the DPF is history. You should re read my post. You kind of missed my point. The scr and dpf systems do not interact together but have a cause and effect with engine tuning. 07 emissions trucks were tuned to reduce NOX a side effect of this tuning is more soot due to a more incomplete burn. This causes the DPF to plug up faster. Now with SCR the engines can be tuned for efficiency and power, because the SCR will clean up the excess NOX. More efficient combustion leads to less soot and fewer regens . Again, just a more explained version of my initial post. Now that sounds totally reasonable!

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

I don't live in my trailer (at least not today) so I consider the higher price of fuel and the higher price of the vehicle as part of the pay to play. Sometimes its not about what's the cheapest, its about what works best. I personally enjoy the overhead that a twin-turbo diesel provides and the peace of mind of knowing that I have more truck than trailer and not the other way around. Besides, a gasser with a turbo or supercharger will have to use premium fuel, and the price difference between diesel and premium isn't much, so it's par for the course. I'll call it the Trailer Paradox. Buy a bigger trailer than you need and pull it with the smallest truck that can... Sorry, not for me...
