One other thing I just noticed the light blinks even when unpluged for shore power. Is this normal? Man what a pain.

RE: Progressive Dynamics 4655 Converter ?s Updated

Yes I tried holding the button for maybe 20 seconds and no change. I have read the owners manual and understand it. The TT has been pluged in for the last 24 hours. Maybe I will buy a hydrometer tomorrow and check the battery cells. I will leave it plugged in all weekend and see what happens.

Progressive Dynamics 4655 Converter ?s Updated

I installed thi0s converter yesterday and not sure if its working right. I installed a converter and new board. I hear you can push the button on the board to choose your charging rate. My green LED light on the board flashes very rapidly and does not change by pushing the button. When I turn shore power off the light remains on and still blinks rapidly. If you unplug the four wire pigtail going from board to converter then it goes out. I followed the directions to the tee. Is this normal? The batteries were not down to far when installed. Measuring the voltage at the batteries it is 13.75 volts when converter is running. Tried my amp gauge to measure amps and have a low reading(this my be user not quite understanding how to measure amps.) Please any help would great. I have to wait till Monday to call tech support the day we are suppose to leave for a week of dry camping. Man I am stressed out. Called Progressive Dynamics Monday morning about my converter acting up. He sent me a couple of photos to make sure the 4 wire jumper pigtail between the converter and the fuse panel where in the correct order in the plug and color and they were. He is going to send my a new fuse panel and pigtail. Not looking forward to that again. Anyway great customer service and will update as soon as I can. Doug Thank you Doug.

RE: Do You Disconnect The Battery

I unhooked the batteries 2-24s last week of September brought home 2 weeks ago and they were still @ 12.5 volts, Unhook is best if more than a week or so sitting idle.

RE: Converter ?

I may have a draw. If I shut everything down only thing running is the refer on propane and the propane leak detector. Last year I left for 5 nights and the batteries were down far enough to make the leak detector beep from low battery. I replaced these batteries 3 years ago going on the 4th year this season. My original batteries that came with the TT seemed to stay up a lot longer. I have pulled the fuse for the stereo so thats not pulling any power. When I get it home I will check for a draw. I dont run the furnace just added some extra blankets. I will make sure all my conections are clean and shiny.

RE: Converter ?

Talk to Randy at Bestconverter.com as he has upgraded replacement converters with multi-stage charging capabilities that will greatly reduce generator runtime. Thanks I will give him a call.

Converter ?

I have a 2007 Prowler TT that has a WFCO 8955AN-11 converter in it. I dry camp almost all the time in a heavy tree cover. My question, is there a better converter that will charge 2-24 group batteries faster using a EU2000 Honda. This converter is rated 13.6 volt and 55 amps. I think the converter is married to the fuse panel? I see higher amp 3 stage ones but are stand alone. Any ideas of a good replacement? Thanks Doug

RE: Staying in Touch in the middle of nowhere

No mobile service for from anyone, no phones, no electricity. I am more concerned about my family getting ahold of me then me getting ahold of them. Mainly in the middle of the night in case of an emergency.

Cool little GPS tracking device for vehicles

I picked up this GPS tracking device called TracPort from Brick House Security last week using it to track a 16 year olds where abouts. It will work on anything that has a OBD-II diagnostic plug 1996 to present. This can be used on any gas powered MH,Toad or what ever. It has live tracking and you can shut down the vehicle if it was stolen. No battery runs off the car battery and goes into standby mode when the keys off. Just thought I would share. 3 months free service then $1.00 a day

RE: Staying in Touch in the middle of nowhere

Have a look at the Delorme "InReach", which is a text-only emergency sat communicator. Pricing seems reasonable and it looks like you can pre-program it with specific emergency messages, such as "I rolled the Jeep at these coordinates" or "the weather's hot and we've run out of beer" or "none of the waiters in Paris speak english". This looks interesting. Keep the ideas coming thanks to all.

Staying in Touch in the middle of nowhere

Is a satellite phone the only way? I camp all summer in a very remote area in the Sierra. Last year my wife got hurt and had to send someone up from the closest town to find me. There is no cell service or electric service for 10 miles. Any ideas? The satellite phones claim to work anywhere there is a clear line of site. But look to be pretty spendy. Some rent the phones by the month. Thanks Doug

RE: Fleetwood Prowler Trailers

We have a 2007 Prowler 240 RKS and have been very happy with it. I see lots of older Prowlers in campgrounds and on the road. I think you will be happy. Good luck and have fun.

Almost Ready for Our 1st Trip

Well I am normally out weeks ealier but after the dentist having a tooth pulled and after a weekend on pain in my belly for 3 days and having my appendix removal and 4 days in the hospital. I finally got the TT ready for her first trip in 2011 it has been parked for 8 months. Holly cow what a chore. Washing the roof and outside and inside I am spent. Pulling out in the morning for at least 2 weeks in the limited open Sierra campgrounds. Lots of snow this year no water shortage any more. Pretty happy to get out for a while. Take care and happy camping.
