RE: Some ideas are good ONLY when drunk

Once again, I assert that NO good idea has ever started with the words, "Here, y'all hold my beer and watch this..."

RE: Urban Meyer Hire Already Paying Dividends!

For the life of me, I can't understand why ANY team with a .500 record deserves to be in a bowl game. Oh, right. Follow the $.

RE: BCS gets it right....ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!

Its official.....#1 vs #2. The SEC record in BCS title games is 7-0. Regardless of what happens in January, the SEC record will then be 8-0. That will be 6 consecutive nat'l titles. No other conference has more than a 2-0 record. ALso, it's worth mentioning than 9 SEC teams are bowl bound. 9 out of 12.....ain't bad. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!! Actually, it will be 8-1.

RE: ....almost free...

Mandrake, you just finished a post with your signature "... he he he ..." Nice to hear it and know that you're really back. It sounds as if your new lady friend, your community activities, and your hobbies will be keeping you quite fulfilled. Though we've never met except online, I've always admired the attitude, compassion, and integrity that show through your posts. Welcome home!

RE: Urban Meyer To Coach Ohio State!

He is a tremendous coach, motivator, recruiter and a tireless teacher but he is a lier and someone who, when questioned, refuses to take responsibilty for his actions. I respect him as a coach but have no use for him as a person. This says volumes about the approaches that SOME programs take. The coach can be a scumbag and run a dirty program, but that doesn't matter if he wins games. That teaches a lot, none of it good.

RE: CG near St. Louis recommendations?

You might want to check into Babler State Park in Wildwood, south of Chesterfield in far west St. Louis County. As you probably know, there are a lot of free or nearly free attractions in and around St. Louis to keep your grandkids entertained at that age.

RE: Where are you going in the RV for Thanksgiving?

We're in Charleston, SC visiting our son, DIL, and four beautiful grandchildren -- 6, 4, and 1-year old twins. Have another GD with us -- 15 -- who spent the summer here helping care for the twins. From here we'll go to Valdosta, GA for the baptism of another grandson. His older brother, a seminarian, will help with the service. Then on to the RVIA show in Louisville for much of next week. Like many on this board, we've been very fortunate. Life is good! Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!

RE: Peculiar Park Place RV Park Peculiar MO

If you're going to be in Higginsville, go in to town and stay at the city park. You'll be on grass or on a parking lot, with 30-amp, water, dump station, walking trail, playgrounds, skateboard park and beautiful new water park in the summer, and incredibly nice folks. As of about a year ago they're still $10/night. If no one is there, drop your money in the slot by the Community Building door.

RE: I-70 East bound

If you want to go through St. Louis, don't take I-70 all the way. When you get to Wentzville (Exit 208), take I-64/US40 exit east. This is a completely re-built highway that can be busy at rush hour, but is a piece of cake otherwise. It will take you through Chesterfield, past I-270, past Forest Park (great attractions there) and eventually cross the same bridge as I-70 right next to the arch. About two miles after the bridge over the Mississippi, stay to the right for the curve to continue on I-64 and you're on your way. To avoid the bridge into Louisville, when you get to Mt. Vernon, about 60 miles east of St. Louis, take I-57 south. At Marion, pick up I-24 and go through Paducah, eventually picking up I40 in Nashville.

RE: What is the best place you've ever eaten at on the road?

Try the 2" pork chop at Patti's 1880's Settlement in Grand Rivers, KY, at the north end of Land Between the Lakes. The Blue Gate in Shipshewana, IN is right up there, too.
