RE: delaminated side wall

I have a 96 G/B Pursuit http://i1259.photobucket.com/albums/ii554/iocona/2012-03-21143853.jpg width=640
Thanks for any help
Joey
Joey,
Last season I noticed a very similiar delam, in the same area, on my 2000 GBM Landau. Above the gas tank fill at the back of drivers side. Mine is up higher and doesn't reach the bedroom window, but gets wider as it gets closer to the tank fill.
I used eternabond on all roof seems a few years ago, so I really don't think mine is a leak condition.
I'm thinking mine may be from heating/cooling causing the fiberglass to seperate from the wood backing (as I've read is another possibility with delamination).
Keep us updated on your fix - I'll be following!

RE: Why charge loyal customers more

I believe that AAA only has RV coverage available in certain states.
Not available in Ma. - I went with GS, never had to use it on the MH but it covers the whole family and all vehicles - Never had any trouble when we called them! (Actually the same people come out as they did with AAA in my area.)

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Changed the oil and filter on my Coachmen Mirada (F-53.) What a chore. First the drain plug was right over the front axle so had to balance the oil catch pan while I pulled the plug and as it was draining and again as I remove the filter. Yep, spilled some here and there but it cleans up. Then the biggest challenge was refilling the oil. What a job that was. I have to think of something better next time. I purchased a 5 qt. container of oil but had to pour it into a one qt container to get to the fill hole one qt at a time. You have to be a contortionist to not only see but get the oil to the hole.
:B Gotta love those F-53's!!!
I've tried many different contraptions balancing on top of the axle. Most all end up with wiping up oil off the axle though!
One of the best is just a V-folded peice of cardboard to divert it into container on ground.

RE: Replacing tires in 6 years

Tires blow out at any age new or old as you can read on the forums, some as new as a few months old, to get your tires checked don't just have someone at a rv place or a tire shop look at them, they need to be taken off and looked at inside and out like they were going to recap them. Airline tires are recaped a whole lot of times and some of them are quite old. I had my own tire shop for several years and dealt in recaps, I have run 15 year old recaps on my trucks. Like someone posted earlier 5-6-7-8- yrs is a enternet thing, and how you take it is up to you.
Dirty,
Since you've been around tires, tell us what your "rule of thumb" is on when you need to replace.
Do you run a certain number of years and then get them checked? Do you have them checked yearly?
Love hearing from those who've actually been hands-on instead of relying on this "internet thing"!

RE: Opinions please: Cooper or Sumitomo Tires?

I have narrowed my tire selection for the front of my mh to Cooper Roadmaster 170 or Sumitomo.
I am leaning towards the Cooper's for two reasons.
1. They are made in the USA.
2. They are about $135 cheaper for the pair.
Any opinions?
Big Cooper fan here.
I run them on my Ford Expadition & Jeep TJ, as well as many vehicals in the past.
When I did the tires on my MH a few years back, I had picked out a Cooper that would work on MH (can't remember which one) but my tire guy told me that they were being discontinued and Cooper wouldn't have a suitable MH tire anymore (Not sure what they have now).
He steered me in the Sumitomo direction and I have been very happy with them!

RE: Ford V-10 Engine

Hikerdogs, with 95,000 miles you are about due for some new spark plugs. Highly recommend you get it done at a good Ford garage. There is quite a procedure involved and that is one downside of the V10, getting those spark plugs changed out with no damage. I had the plugs changed out in my 2002 V10 a couple of months ago at 100,000 miles.
Somebody on the forum posted the procedure a while back. Not a project where you should just grab a spark plug wench and do it yourself.
2000 F53 here (1999 chassis).
My recommendation on the older V10's would be to do the plug change yourself so that you know it's been done right.
Here's the write-up I did on it: V10 Dreaded plug change
V10's are super tough units!
You can go over to the FTE (Ford truck enthusists) forum and read all you want on V10's.

RE: WINDSHIELD SHADES

Made my own interior ones from pet screen - nice and easy set-up from interior & they never get wet/dirty. Work great as daytime privacy screen and are very good for the quick weekend get-aways, especially here in New England's tree covered spots.
I will say I'm planning on an exterior set for the longer stays and open sun-baked spots.
Exterior will definetly work the best for keeping your interior cooler.

RE: cape cod campresort & cabins

X2 on Bayview! One of my favorites.
lucy6194's suggestion is also great if you want less than full hook-ups.
Did not like Campresort at all.

RE: RV Parking Pad(s)

I'm sure a concreate pad would be real nice!
If you can afford it that's the way I'd go.
To save some bucks I went gravel (3/4" processed stone).

Click - RV Parking for a few construction pics.
This worked out very good. Packs pretty hard.
Only draw-backs:
Eventually those weeds find their way up - Weed killer used each spring.
Slight gray rain splash on tires.
Slight tire rut after 4 years, just about ready to bring in a little more to coat the top.

RE: Need help with console Ideas.

Has anyone made anything? If so, could you post pictures as to give me ideas to reflect on?
Here's the one I came up with:

Made from a couple of oak stair treads.

RE: Shiny RV with Red Max Pro (pics)

I had two green decals bleed using the BKF and they bleed wiping the red max on so I later used lacquer thinner and cleaned off the bleed. Then I wiped with the decal one very light amount of red max to seal the decal and it worked. our 2001 35 ft alpenlite looks the same as new.
chevman
Larry (or anyone),
Will laquer thinner remove the RM?
I did my rig and it was coming out great.
After my third coat was on, it took me a week to get back to it.
I added the 4th coat but should have washed it again before doing it!
I think we had a pretty bad week for pollen and now my green decal stripes have some light tan streaks on them.
I'm thinking of going over the decal area with something to try to remove the streaks before adding any more coats.
Any suggestions????

RE: Okay Red Max Pro experts, question for you?

At $15 for the gallon, Red Max #3 really shined the best. I realize that it is only floor wax and needs to be re-applied every few months, but this is what I will be using from this point forward.
Went to Lowes last week to buy a second gallon - All the #3 was gone - Hmmmmm... coincidence or getting to popular?? :h
