RE: Streaming from computer to OLD TV

yes the PC to TV will do the video the $29.95 one looks like the $14 one from Amazon no matter which one you get, you WILL need a separate cable for sound from PC to TV

RE: Streaming from computer to OLD TV

He said the tv has rca jack AV input He doe not need an rf modulator Just the video adapter for the video signal and theaudio cable Even if the tv already had a vga computer input it would still require seperate cables for sound Computer sound has always been on sperate output Even high end video cards for desktop pc has seperate audio output

RE: Streaming from computer to OLD TV

Pc Audio does not come from the vga plug For that he needs a mini plug adapter to rca audio snd plug into the external audio port on the laptop Same place you plug in the head phones

RE: Hookups

A 4 wire 240v American system could be used on a 4 wire 50 amp American rv Do NOT plug any american 120v rv 30 or 50 amp into a 3:wire 250v system That system does not have neutral and does not supply 120v

RE: Which is better: Higher or lower volt solar panels?

i'm quite sure, that IF some one buys $1 per watt panels, that there must be some production costs reductions some where ( i don't know what Renoman bought ) panels are rated so they must produce the rated amount that doesn't mean $1 per watt panels are shade tolerant with bypass diodes on each & every cell we could nit pik this all winter as far as amps & wattage, once your panel voltage choice is high enough that you must use an mppt controller, the actual voltage doesn't matter as long as the controller can handle it, 24v 28v 36v the mppt is going to convert it to 14+v at increased amps the output will be as close to total incoming power/wattage as the controller can make it 240 watts at 20v is 12amps, 240 watts at 24v is 10amps , 240w at 14v is 17.14amps and it doesn't make any difference to the controller if the incoming is 20v*12a or 24v*10a on an RV the resistance losses between the voltages are probably not worth the hassle of figuring it out, buy the panels that are either shade tolerant or IF none are, then buy the least costly panels

RE: Which is better: Higher or lower volt solar panels?

Hi Mr. Wizard, I agree. Shade tolerant panels are superior to non shade tolerant--but it is about #24 down the list of reasons to purchase panels. I dont known where it ranks I just know that shading one cell or more is not going to vastly chsnge the outpit of new panels Even you know this but you keep repeating it Agreedef not all panels are shade tolerant

RE: Which is better: Higher or lower volt solar panels?

My panels are parallel Playing Devils Advocate here All im saying is the shade loss statement doesnt really hold water when using new shade tolerant panels

RE: Which is better: Higher or lower volt solar panels?

The advantage of parallel is shade tolerance. If the panels are in series output drops dramatically from the entire array if just one cell is shaded. this keeps getting repeated over & over panels have banks of cells arrranged like banks of 6v batteries rows of cells in series for voltage, the series rows are paralleled to total the amps shade tolerant panels with diodes across each cell will loose omly the power from those cells example my unisolar panels have two rows of series cells, so one iF one cell is shaded I loose maybe 1/2 volt on one row, the other row continues to put out full power, the row with the shaded cell looses only the one cell NOT the whole row if these two panels were series, there would be a slight drop, while the drop might be equal too loosing one cell in each panel (current limiting factor) parallel will create less loss, but loosing one cell does NOT create major loss

RE: Cell signal booster, property wide

home connect is simply a cellular device that you connect ANY hard wired OR cordless BASE phone into it is not a router, you do not use your cell phone, the Home Connect has its own cell phone number, the amplifier and directional antenna supply the signal to the Home connect the home connect could be connected to an office desk phone, a princess phone, an all one you bought at Home depot, an old wall phone, it would not make any difference just plug in a std cordless base (just like you would at home) and carry the cordless around the property of course you need one with good range

RE: Batwing rotating adjustment fell apart

put on the big ring, then the spring then the handle tighten the Allen screw in the handle either screw came loose due to wear on the a Lu hex shaft or the plastic handle cracked from age and the screw can't be tighten with out making the break worse new crank handle about $3

RE: Cell signal booster, property wide

but if you used some thing like Verizon "home connect" cell device (which uses residential phones) you could place it in the box connected to a residential cordless phone and carry the cordless around the property If you have little to no cell phone signal the Verizon Home Connect would be useless, its not an amp. maybe I wasn't clear connect the home connect to the amplifier/booster then connect the residential phone no worries about antenna seperation, you carry the residential cordless not your regular cell phone could also attached an external pa ringer horn/speaker so that you would be alerted to an icomming call by audio tone even if the cordless was to far from the base station power Max 10,000 square ft of coverage, that equals a square 100fton each side I think the property involved is much larger than that

100% clear denatured alcohol cut 50-50 with distilled water I keep a little squeeze bottle ready, dust with clean cloth wipe with another clean cloth dampen with this mix No scented rubbing alcohol, no window / glass cleaners no chemicals besides distilled water and denatured alcohol used to be available at the drug store, I bought mine at home depot in a pint/16oz can

RE: Bonding a generator

this issue "bonding a portable generator" was discussed ad nausea for weeks in the 3000w Chinese generator forum with the same results as here it boils down to the bare facts that unless you have a driven earth ground and bond Both and the generator frame to grd and rv frame to grd ( against code) bonding the generator frame makes the rv frame part of the electrical circuit and subject to voltage potential above zero volts earth grd I will never bond the "supposed" neutral of a 120v portable generator to the generator frame I would rather be exposed to a capacitance of 60v low current in milliamps than a 120v shock from the generator output real example here: many times I have used generator powered drills or saws or welder on the RV if the tool failed and shorted out worn wiring , bad switch etc.. it would be a capactive effect of 60v with the neutral bonded the voltage between hot and frame is 120v remember your rv sets on tires, unless connected to shore power the frame is not earth bonded, and even then people get tingled or shocked between bare grd and door handle or steps WHY. ? because of voltage difference, improper or in Complete earth bonding on the circuits mean the bonded frame is Not at zero volts bonding the 'neutral' to generator frame, without providing a solid secure buried earth grd per NEC specs for the generator frame, is not a good idea your opinion may vary

RE: Cell signal booster, property wide

weather proof equipment boxes come in all sizes check your local electrical supply house like "Granger" I'm not sure about the availability of localized property wide amplifier but if you used some thing like Verizon "home connect" cell device (which uses residential phones) you could place it in the box connected to a residential cordless phone and carry the cordless around the property as you know. cell boosters/repeaters have to have the antennas seperated by distance and the more power and area to be covered the greater the distance , I have a feeling a two part system, similar to what I described is going to be needed

RE: Hookups

@mustek that's 120v at a Max of 30amps load adapters can be used to connect to a smaller 120v circuit do not connect to any outlet that is more than 120 you can run off a 120v generator or get a step down transformer

RE: Checking New Solar panel output with multimeter?

you need a meter that can check DC amps Not milliamps you need a 10amp setting, usually a seperate spot to plug in the red/positive lead on the meter first check voltage set the meter on DC set in on the scale higher than the 20+v voc of the meter, 200>300>600 whatever is the next higher scale point the panel at the sun and read across the leads for the amps you will select the 10amp meter mode, and again connect across the leads, do this quickly, do not hold for more and a few seconds, you are doing a dead short reading of the panels amps, in good sun this reading will be higher than the rated charging amps, it should equal or be close to the short circuit amps listed on the panel specs
