RE: What does "Dealer Stock Only" mean?

I've always thought it to mean "what they have currently" at the dealership. Something that has to be ordered isn't included, perhaps in a sale they are advertising. They might get more at a later date, but don't count on it being sold at sale price they are currently advertising. In other words, they are trying to move the stock they have on hand.

New shocks needed???

Our 5ver in signature has never had new shocks that we know of. The last few trips we've taken, the dining table always ends up in the walkway of the kitchen area. I don't think we've gone over any rougher routes than we have in the past, some roads being worse than others of course, so would new shocks help? Just happened to think of this ...haven't mentioned it to DH yet.. He just loves it when I find something else for him to do!

RE: Beavers Bend, OK (Next Question)

There are only a few sites right on the water and I think they assign sites according to the size of your rig. I'm not sure yaks or canoes are allowed in that part of the river (maybe only on the lake?). I've never seen any along there. I'd either give them a call or send them an email (info@beaversbend.com). They are very helpful & prompt either way. It's a beautiful area, especially that time of year.
If you go early enough in the week, you probably won't have any trouble getting a site in the "Acorn" CG on the river. We found out last year in June that even though we had reservations for a certain # of days, we moved to another site in Acorn (not on the river) and they didn't charge us for the two remaining reserved dates. We ask the camp host who was scheduled to leave on a certain day, talked to those people to make sure they were leaving and ask if we could put a tent on their site early the next a.m. That was fine with them, so that's what we did, plus we paid the park host right after putting up the tent. That it a big thing up there if you want to "save" a site, you MUST have a tent on it.
Enjoy your trip!

RE: Holiday Rambler presidential Parts?

You might do a search on RVTrader.com or even just a google search for your make & model in your area. You might happen to find one that is for sale that you could get the measurements from. PPL might even have one on consignment that they could help you out. Just a thought!

RE: How to research the tiny city/county campgrounds

Just remember to be flexible...It's a holiday weekend so there may not be a lot available, even in smaller campgrounds. Enjoy your trip!

RE: Suspicious Verizon Phone Call

The guy got the wrong company. TXU Energy in TX is offering free nights this summer (for new customers) meaning they will not be charged for electricity they use during night time hours. Whoopee! Big savings! (And this is their commercial on tv this week so it's legit.)

RE: Why do I get "dues notices" in the mail all the time?

This junk mail is exactly one reason we're not GS members any longer, too. Plus our other junk mail seemed to increase after becoming members so I felt our info had been sold.
One thing you can do which cost them $$ is to return everything to them in the postage paid envelope (if one is provided) BUT be sure and mark out the part where it says your payment is due, or write something big across the bill stating that it isn't due yet. They have to pay for each returned letter (it used to be charged by weight just like any other postage), and when they get enough back with out the renewals in them, maybe, just maybe, they'll catch on!

RE: Where to sell my RV

Do you have "Thrifty Nickle" papers in your area? We also have what we call local "shopper" papers in our area that have news and classifieds in them for surrounding areas.

Fender skirt question

We've still not gotten new fender skirts but it is on my list for the summer. If you've replaced your's and ordered them do you remember the approx. cost to ship? I know things cost money, but sometimes the shipping cost just isn't reasonable :E (at least to me!).

40th Class Reunion

We're having our 40th H.S. class reunion this summer...guess I'm telling my age! We want to have some certificates, i.e., who traveled the most miles to attend, most grandchildren, etc, but also I'd like to make some "fun" ones too. I've come up with "the one with the least patience" due to lack of hair(as they've pulled it all out), but I'm stuck for some others. Any ideas???

RE: Amazon Order Cancelled

I keep getting these Emails saying that my Amazon order has been canceled. The funny thing is that I have not ordered anything from Amazon.
Why do you keep opening the emails?
You don't have to open them. This is the "title" of the email that you get. Evidently you haven't gotten your notice ...yet!:)

RE: Camper "wishlist" for families with small children

I think a great place to look at different floorplans is PPL. They sell consignments and have lots of different models to see what is out there...You don't have to buy from them, I think it's a good place to get ideas in one place. If you find a brand & style you like, you can go to the mfgs website and see if they still currently have a similar model, or got to RV Trader and see if there are any gently used ones on the market. Happy Shopping!

RE: Teenager At Home and RVing

Not only the fact that she could leave with friends, etc. what about if something goes wrong at home? Does she know how to handle it, or are there family members close enough to help? Of course she could call 911.
This makes me think of the days before we had cell phones and our kids were in jr high, maybe high school (can't remember for sure) but DH & I had gone to a town 30 miles away for shopping on a Sat. While we were gone for just a few hours our water heater went out and started spewing out the relief valve! Scared them, but they called a family friend who told them to turn the water off behind the tank. Everything turned out ok, but you just never know what can happen.
Until our kids got jobs they usually went everywhere with us although we weren't camping on weekends during that time as their schedules with work and school prevented that plus we were building our house..just too busy...but I think others are right. She needs to be with you...let her take a friend and she'll survive and you can sleep at night!
