RE: New Andersen WD hitch

Directions call for 100 lbs on the bracket bolts and 3 turns after contact on the setscrews. Just dropped it off at the shop for the weld option-2 inches on the trai;ing edge at the bottom of the outside bracket.
My instructions state 150 ft/lbs on the bracket bolts.

1) Hook it up and enjoy the scenery on your 20-25 minute drive to the beach.
2) Unhook and have a great time at the beach with your family!!

RE: About to order the Scan Gauge II

I'd recommend one for sure.
I have mine in my F350 mounted on the dash to the left of the steering wheel with a bracket I made.
After the warranty ran out it started acting up, in that upon startup it would flash up with the info from when it was shut down and would feeze there for a few minutes. The screen would then go blank and 'try again' which it would do for up to 10 minutes of driving and then it would be good.
A quick email to SG and they had me send it back to them and it came back all updated and has been good ever since. Again, this is AFTER the warranty was over, so I have nothing but praise for them.

RE: New Andersen WD hitch

Just briefly read this thread, and it looks like Anderson may have a winner.
Little bit of a bummer that it costs $499 when there seems to be alot less steel involved when compared to the benchmark Equal-i-zer or Reese Dual Cam.
If they wanted to shake up the market they could have priced it less than the two top dogs....oh well.:R
I'll be watching for some more real-world reviews.

RE: Crater Lake - where to stay

Thanks for all the info.
We won't need hookups for the couple nights we'll be there, so our options aren't too limited.
Snow.....never thought of that. We'll be there the second week of July, so I'd better make sure it's feasible.
Thanks again everyone.

Crater Lake - where to stay

Hey there,
We are planning a loop south from WA down to Crater Lake and are wondering where the best spot to stay near the Lake would be.
Have found Broken Arrow/Diamond Lake cg's, but not sure how close they really are?
We are planning to head out to the Coast from here (Nehalem), so we're thinking staying North of the Lake would make for an easier 'escape' west.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

RE: Where to buy a Honda eu2000 generator in Oregon

Thanks for all of the replies.
Yes I would buy from the internet, but it it too expensive to ship it to Canada and I don't know of a place to ship it to in Oregon. Last summer when I was at the dunes in Coos Bay I saw them on sale somewhere, but can't remember which store it was.
n7bsn - Sailed on Oberon class submarines for 4 years. Worked on the Victoria class, but have never sailed on them. Currently with the surface fleet.
Have purchased a few quads in both Washington and Oregon. It seems to be hit and miss for taxes in Washington, hence the reason for wanting to purchase in Oregon.
Yes we have to pay Canadian taxes when we bring items into Canada. However, after more than 48 hours in the US we are allowed to bring up to $700.00 worth of goods back tax and duty free if the items were made in the USA.
I will check out the places that you guys have listed.
Cheers
Hey there,
I'm a former employee of FMF Cape Breton in the Electrical shops. Did my apprenticeship there and was laid off upon completion...bummer.
Worked on the Protecteur and Algonquin refits back in '02 for VicShip and have been in Vancouver ever since....I do miss the ships and Victoria.
Got to 'de-perm' HMCS Onandaga(sp.) way back, which was really cool, although she was a bit tight inside on the tour they gave us.

RE: Where to buy a Honda eu2000 generator in Oregon

I'm not so sure about that Washington sales tax exemption for B.C. residents...the rule that allowed for it very briefly last year was ordered suspended pending judicial review- I can't find any references to indicate that it's been reinstated.
Anyway, don't B.C. residents have to declare/pay B.C. taxes on things they bring back into the Country/Province?
No Washington tax exemption for us BC'ers, which is why he's probably looking to buy in no-tax Oregon.
Coming across the border we are subject to 12% HST, but no duty on generators.
Sometimes you'll get waved through without having to pay the tax, but it depends on the Guard's mood at the time.
Good luck, and make sure you Declare everything when you come back across with the new generator.

RE: This one is sweet...

Floor plan indicates NO shower in bedroom. Wouldn't work for us. Nice looking outside.
I like the fact that the master is it's own area - don't have to pull a curtain across if someone needs to use the biffy like some other units that have the bathroom 'integrated' into the the master.

RE: campgrounds around silverwood, Id.

We've stayed at Silverwood's CG and it was fine for the two days we visited the park. Nothing to do there unless you're using the Park.
Last year we stayed at Faragut - highly recommend it. The lake is great and the walking/biking trails are extensive. We were only there 2 nights and want to go back to really enjoy the place.
Word of caution, depending on the size of your rig you had better get on making a reservation soon.
We were in the Whitetail Loop and got the last spot. It was tight with our 29' trailer manouevering to our site, but the site was pretty good for our unit.
The Waldron and Gilmore are setup for bigger rigs and have paved roads/sites/full hookups.
The Snowberry Loop is VERY TIGHT - some people had to park vehicles elsewhere and getting into a few of the sites would have been fun.
Again, get reserving soon as the place is packed in the summer.
Hope this helps,
Mike

RE: Bike Carrier/There Must Be A Solution/Quality Important

"Might I ask where you put the table? "
The legs get stashed in the lower bunk and the table top lays on the bench in front of the closest bike in the pic...wrapped in a blanket.

RE: Bike Carrier/There Must Be A Solution/Quality Important

Have you thought about using fork mount brackets on you TT table benches with the table folded down?
Been meaning to do this myself. My table folds into a flat surface to make a bed. Under the benchEs we have storage which has acces through a door and by lifting a cutout board within the top of the bench seat. Just mount some fork mounts there and flip the boards when not in use.
Like these
Clicky
Then on the other bench put some tie down hooks. Use the tie downs with bungy cords to sucure back wheel.
You'll have to take front wheel on/off, but most a quick release anyway.
Three bikes = $50 and you bikes are safe and out of the weather. Don't get much cheaper!
Like this! Used this setup all last summer. Works great and the bikes are secure.

RE: KZ Spree advise

Our first TT was a 289KS and we loved it, especially the long upper bunks which were great for our 6'5" 16 year old....very hard to find bunks that would fit the freakazoid.:)
The only issue we had was that the motor that drives the rear slide pulled itself off it's mount. Make sure those slide cables have been properly adjusted.
KZ was great throughout the repair process, so I have problems recommending the trailer.
Enjoy.

RE: New Trailer...Eternabond

I had every roof seam and opening on my brand new trailer's roof E-bonded within two months of owing it.
Applied the tape right over top of the factory lap-sealant.
Will still inspect every 6 months or so, but I'm very confident there will be very little to worry about.
Spent 40+ hours repairing water damage on our last trailer that we bought used in which there was no roof maintenance done.....sigh, my bad for not fully inspecting it.
An ounce of prevention....

RE: New Tow Vehicle 2003 Excursion

Something to add to your upgrade list, and perhaps near the top of it:
Transmission cooler from a 6.0L Powerstroke - mucho help with keeping the 4R100 cool, which is a good thing!!
An easy mod with only a couple fittings to change.
Enjoy the new "beast."
Mike...Doh...mental note: "should read previous posts a little more carefully...":R Sorry for the redundancy.

RE: Fuzion 300 bumper pull

I absolutely love the FZ300 layout. I would trade my WW in a heartbeat if the price would drop $15-20. I can't believe the MSRP is $48k or more for this rig...you could get a nice 5th wheel for this price. Nonetheless, this model will certainly be a contender when we're back in the market.
Holmans has one on the lot priced with $38K crossed out for a sale price so i bet it would sell in the mid30's.
I asked for a quote on that one and it was low30's......wish I could convince my DW to sell our TT for it....sigh.
