RE: For you Yellowstone Early Birds

Not unusual at all for the area. We had 6 inches on the ground when we were allowed up there in first week of June two years ago. That was at the Lakeside campground S.W. of Fishing Bridge on Yellowstone Lake.

RE: "No Signal" on tv

Have you read the manual that came with the TV? The TV must be set to "antenna". The antenna must be aimed at the nearest town with transmitter. The amplifier for the antenna must be turned on. Now run the "auto search" from the menu on the TV. You gave no information on what type, brand, antenna system you have. An omni-directional antenna is only good up to 35 miles, and the directionals around 45 to 50 miles in standard form. If you live farther away you are out of range at the current time.

RE: Recalculating

The GPS finds gas stations for all directions. Most people have problems using GPS's because they refuse to read directions and learn. If you were in Wyoming you might have just passed the last gas station for the next 100 miles. If you don't turn around and get gas you are out of luck. The GPS's have already been "dumbed down" for the clueless and I refuse to replace my original Garmen made to work for the military.

RE: WDH making noise when turning?

The noise is normal and the equipment is working. Never oil the friction bar or it will not work. If you have done that clean it with dish detergent to remove any traces of oil.

RE: Google Chrome has changed as of 5/16/12

The link given for the Google news works fine for my purpose. Thanks. My problem this morning is that when clicking the Google Chrome icon for their O.S. I was sent to a different screen than the familiar GOOGLE search bar with the menue bar on top. The new window showed 3 icons including App Store and 2 others. I guess they are trying to get those of us who never filled out their application to use a name and password. I.E.9 and Windows 7 have worked fine for me so I will pass on having the second O.S. for the time being. With yesterday's update on Google Chrome, maybe only those of us who had not officially signed on got that new openning screen. Thank's for the help.

Google Chrome has changed as of 5/16/12

Have any of you checked Google Chrome home page today? I have used it for about 2 years now. Mainly for news or an alternate route to RV.Net if problems on I.E. I never had to sign on or use a password since I had no need to new e-mail account. Today I could not find any way to get to the news page without having to sign on the new system. So I uninstalled it for now. :M

RE: New tv in mh

as we travel, if we hookup, will the tv have to find channels each time we stop for the night at an rv park?It will have to do the same thing the old TV did. This reply is only true if you are using provided cable at an RV park. I assume the old TV was analog and not used recently. Yes you will need a new search at the new location. Time to read the manual for your TV. I hope you brought it with you.

RE: No signal to tv.

Is this your first digital TV? TV first needs to be turned on. Go to "Menu" and set TV to "antenna". Turn on antenna amplifier and aim at nearest town with transmitter. Run the "Auto" search. There will always be "No signal" on channels not found and linked to TV's computer. I will assume you read the directions and installed the Jack Antenna correctly.

RE: Boondock Office Essentials Where EVERY WATT COUNTS

Maybe this teacher should have a class on the "Red-green" show universal repair kit: Duct tape to stop unwanted movement. WD40 to get things to move. :C

RE: RV industry (still) not catching up on quality issues

As far as the OP's post goes, I do not think we will see much inprovement in quality until the economy really picks up more. I suspect most manufacturers are still in survival mode.

RE: Mountainaire w22 Chassis Battery problem

I have a 2002 Newmar Mountainaire that I removed the batteries for the winter - both coach and chassis. I've installed the coach batteries and everything works okay. I installed the chassis battery and I get no power in any of the vehicle. No starter, no lights, nothing. I've checked the fuses and replaced one, but that didn't do anything. I've had advice to make sure the battery disconnect is off and use the coach batteries to assist, but nothing. I must be missing some fuse or switch somewhere that allows power up into the cabin. The ground is good. When I pull out th 7.5 amp fuse by the solenoid, it clicks off and on. Any ideas where the problem is? The chassis battery is a starting battery. Did you check it and keep it charged while stored? There is no way it would have lasted without charge through the winter. Are you talking about having the chassis battery still on disconnect? What is the voltage of the chassis battery using a multimeter? The chassis battery must be connected to start the engine. The engine-boost connects house-batteries to chassis-battery to help in starting engine.

RE: Winegard antenn vane

I have also noticed that some manufactures/dealers install the antenna wrong. The antenna lowers towards the front. You misread my statment. The antenna is suposed to go down facing the rear. I have seen some going down facing forward which means they were installed wrong. You are wrong. Look at their manual when you crank it down it need to go down towards the rear of the RV.

RE: Winegard antenn vane

It sounds like the nut inside the crank has come loose. While you think the antenna is laying flat on the roof, it may actually raise due to the wind while driving. The loose nut does not allow the gearing to hold it down. I have also noticed that some manufactures/dealers install the antenna wrong. The antenna lowers towards the front.

RE: Picture Disk HELP!!!!

You still have not answered any basic questions. What brand of computer? How old? Are you still using Windows XP, or something older? Basicly if you click on "Computer" icon you should see your CD if you entered one in the drive. Clicking on the CD shown in the drive should open it and show a list of folders. Clicking on any folder should open it and show contents. If you cannot do any of this, I would take you CD's to a friend or relative and have them try them on their DVD/CD drive to see if they can open them. I suspect you own CD drive in your computer is the problem.

RE: Over the air TV revisited

Just a further thought on this topic. Since King created the Jack Antenna as competition or replacement for the Winegard antenna. Why did they not create a base for their antenna with a base and bolt-holes to fit existing cut-out for the Winegard?

RE: Campground related spam/phishing

When connecting to any WiFi systems unknown to you, ALWAYS use the "Public" protection mode, not your "Home Network" mode. It might slow the network down but protects you own computer from problems. I have always used Norton in different computers since 2000 without problems. I have an Assus I7 on Windows7 Premium, IE9, and also Google Chome currently.

RE: Over the air TV revisited

I have noted on some other recent posts the fact that the King Jack antenna does rotate 360 degrees versus known problem of Wingman of being stuck with direction needed not being possible due to direction parked on a site. Using the Wingman attachment makes the range to rotate to somewhat larger since the antenna is even more directional. Has anyone out here yet tried adding a second inline amplifier to the Kingman antenna yet? Can you get close to my 105 mile diameter range yet? I use my Garman E-Map measuring tool to check out distances from my current location to cities/towns where channels are found. It would be nice to not have to reverse the way parked to allow my antenna to point exactly at wanted transmitter.

RE: Analysis of battery/charging times using generator...

hi, we are going into the woods for 4 months - no hook ups,no solar. Have Monaco Dynasty 2001,40' DP with 3 stage charger and Onan Generator. We need new house batteries. Does spending alot of $ on a more expensve set that charges quicker, really save us on how much diesel it takes to charge using diesel at $4.25 gal? Make sense? Thank you,Nancy problem posting this morning! Message did not post.

RE: Over the air TV revisited

Being under a metal roof is part ov your problem. Try moving the motor-home out from under the shelter. Things should improve then.

RE: Over the air TV revisited

I would rescan changing direction aimed about 45 degrees and see what else is there. Sorry I do not believe your results. It is more directional now and needs to be aimed better. Please note the part needing to be aimed at staions is the small antenna wings. They cover higher UHF signals. It is not possible to do worse with the Wingman.
