RE: My ac gave out..

here's a link to the 8000 pdf file file, look on page6 and compare with your exiting stat and wire connections on the stat. This file doesn't show the elect. heat strip, use this file as a guide and check to see if the plug inside of the AC unit is the same also.
Thanks for the link. I went out and took the stat of the wall. After pulling several inches of wire out of the wall, there is a 12 wire cable with 9 of them being used. Only 7 were visible at the stat. So I'm ok with whatever I chose.
I probably will mail order then pay the one hour labor to install. I think there's more wires than I want to deal with.

RE: My ac gave out..

We travel with a Bernese Mountain Dog so I don't want to use a plug in heater. I also was told by an rv tech today that a Coleman needs 8 or 12 wires. How do people run new wires? Is it possible to use my seven wire bundle to pull new wire?

RE: My ac gave out..

Thanks for the reply. The heater is about $50. We have it now and use it when plugged in and cool out. We've probably used it more than the ac. Hopefully someone can tell me for sure if I have enough wires.

My ac gave out..

The last trip my ac gave out, 2000 Lance 920. After reading a recent thread about changing from a 13,500 btu to a 9200 Polar Cub. I've decided to make the switch. I currently have a Dometic penguin with a heat strip. The therm stat has 7 wires. If I do this myself, is this a direct exchange? I would be changing out both the AC and the Stat.

RE: Upgrading DRW wheels/tires

I also have to ask why you thick you need to change with a dually? The people useing 19.5s are the SRW people. My GMC dually has just over 10,000#s of rating at 80 psi that exceeds the axle rating.

RE: Ford V-10 spark plugs

Iridium plugs I believe are the only ones good for 100k changes. Also never regap one and be very carefull checking new ones. If the gap is wrong, take them back for correct ones.

RE: Question

I carried my 920 Lance on a 2000, 2500.
Does that make it a 2250?
Maybe thats why I didn't need the sway bar.

RE: Question

I carried my 920 Lance on a 2000, 2500. I added Airlift bags and Rancho ajustable shocks. I never thought I had a reason to add a sway bar.

RE: Are surge guards necessary

I've been RVing in everything from motorhomes to pop up campers since the 60s. Never owned one and never needed one. Maybe I'm just lucky.

RE: Highways Magazine is actually "New and Improved"!

I think it's a better magazine. While it is loaded with adds, I don't see that as all bad. Especially when I see something new or now have an interest in.

RE: Road Pirates

Been at it since the mid 70s, never had anything stolen, but have been approched, maybe twice in a rest area by people needing gas money or claimed to be broke down. There are too many other things to worry about worse than this.

RE: Rear Axle Weight Rating & Scale Weight Question

The axle itself is probably rated up around 9k or more. The 6830 is like was said the tire limit.

RE: Pros and Cons of double towing

We are considering getting a small (5x8) utility trailer to carry 2 kayaks and 2 bikes plus other assorted stuff that we seem to have to take when we go in the MH. This will be attached to the Jeep whichis attached to the Motorhome. I was just wondering if anyone has any opinions on this or has had any issues doing this. I know some states frown on this. However, we sat in a campground in one of these states that supposedly frowns on this and watch many double toads come and go.
Always happy to hear a healthy exchange of ideas and opinions, Dan
The Motorhome is a 33'Holiday Rambler Admiral with the Ford V-10 and the Jeep will have brakes.
Put the bikes on a hitch mounted bike rack and put the kayaks on top of the Jeep
This is the logical solution.

RE: Michigan State Parks

We have stayed in many MI state parks. One piece of advice, take plenty of electric cord. You can be a looong way from the box. There are many nice parks though.
