RE: General RV Sucks!

From the RV.Net Forum Rules #9:

New Forum Member with this one and only post - plus you say you have dedicated a Facebook Page to flame them??? I'd say that was an agenda - sorry, that's not allowed here - thread locked - soon to be deleted...

RE: Joining #8 wires

I have used split bolts on occasion with larger wire - works well and you can either use shrink tubing or electrical tape to insulate...

RE: Taxes

I'm not a tax expert and you should seek the advice of one for the proper answer but I think the key is you already claim 2 residences... I believe the RV can be claimed if IT IS the 2nd residence and I don't think there is a provision to claim more than 2 residences... But again, I'm not a tax expert...

RE: Trailer Weights

Yeah, and we don't have anywhere near 50 cans of food in the TT... But I do agree, the weight adds up fast... When we go on a trip we're running at max TT GVWR but have some head room on the TV GVWR and GCWR...

RE: Hitch ball stuck in receiver

Grease will help and sometimes if the trailer is in tension with the coupler, it may be necessary to back up a bit or pull forward a bit to unload the tension off the hitch...
There is also an adjustment for ball tightness on most hitches... Look under the coupler and you should see a square adjustment nut... You want this adjustment to be snug so that the ball won't pull out, but not so tight that it will not release the ball... Check it out - it could be part of the problem...
MAKE SURE you have it adjusted properly - too loose could cause an unwanted uncoupling of the TT and that would be disastrous...
Here's a little procedure that explains it...

RE: installing a level on the front of the trailer.

Like the man said - level is level... The only thing to determine is what are you basing level on??? I base mine on the fridge since it has to be level to operate properly without going into self-destruct mode... I put one of those round bubble levels in the fridge freezer compartment and level from there...

When I get the fridge level, I install the side to side and front to back levels...

RE: 2012 Eagle 330 RLTS towing experiences

Ron took the words right out of my mouth,er, hands, typing that is :W ... You may have to up the rating on your receiver if it's the stock Ford receiver and that TT is plenty heavy with a possible max gross of #11,250... I had to change my Ford stock receiver to a more robust unit...
I pull a Nomad 3150 with my F250/V10 - it's also about 34' overall length and #9400 loaded and I pull it with a Hensley hitch and pulling it is fine... Squeezing it into some places can be a bit challenging at times...

RE: water pump issues

It sounds like you have an air leak somewhere and the pump can't pull the bleach water... This usually happens to me at least once when winterizing and I let the antifreeze that I'm pulling out of the jug run too low...
Try priming the supply hose and see if that doesn't help...

RE: Fridge killing battery while on shore power

Hi Bob,
Hope all is well with you - I'll drop you a PM shortly and tell you what's going on here - have some news for you...
The question I don't think you answered was do you really have a 3 way fridge (110/LP/12 volt)??? I haven't seen one of those for quite some time not that you couldn't have one...

RE: Slide-out Boot

Actually, to me it looks better than a slide topper (I have them)... This is a complete boot that seals the inside off from the outside... I like the concept better than a slide topper...

RE: Gap in Electric Tongue Jack

Yup, looks like you've got a 2" jack and a 2 1/4" hole in the tongue... I'd try and build a shim for it - having that much slop could lead to problems in the future...

RE: V-Nose less drag?

If one looks at nuclear subs, it's more than theory. A sub cutting through water is the same as a trailer cutting through air, except water has more resistance than air.In the aero world, they are called "boat tails" or sometimes "kaam backs". They are a proven mileage booster. I do not know what kind of mileage savings there are on big rigs, but I imagine it would make a difference on travel trailers as well.
Well, I've never seen a nuclear sub up close and personal but I would expect the same physics apply in terms of wind vs water... With the mileage most Semi drivers put on each year, even a 1/4 to 1/2 mile per gallon increase would result in large dollar savings...

RE: V-Nose less drag?

Previous posts regarding the V-nose trailers seem to indicate little improvement in gas mileage...
Just as an FYI, I have seen a few semi's recently with a device on the rear of the trailer which angles in on all 4 sides resembling a "square cone shape"... This would seem to support the drag theory at the rear of the trailer as well as the front...

RE: photo test

You need more than photobucket.com... That's the base website... Once you upload your photos to the photobucket site, you need to copy and paste the IMG syntax of the photo your trying to post to the RV.Net forum post you want the picture in...
Your IMG syntax statement will look similar to the one below... Note the "width=640" statement which will resize your photo to the RV.Net maximum recommended size...

RE: Dexter E-Z Flex Install- Any last minute recommendations?

Just take your time Steve and be sure the TT is firmly mounted on jack stands... When I did mine (see original sticky at top of TT Forum) I used a combination of jack stands and my stabilizer jacks and even had the TT hooked to the truck for a little added stability...
I did one side at a time like most everyone else did...
Good luck and be sure and post your job with photos in the sticky in the TT Forum...
