RE: How to Decrease Interior Heat - Awnings or Tinted Windows?

what about sunshades like Magne Shade? We have one for the big front window and also the two front sides. Makes a big difference.

RE: Sea eagle boats

I don't mean to be rude but some people are so anal about things. Let the guy ask his question....geeezzz agree! We have two Sea Eagle 385 Fast Tracks. We love them. We went from hard sit on top kayaks to these. I was skeptical of inflatables until we found them. They are great. They track well, are comfortable and are easy to inflate. Ours are a little more difficult to deflate and dry because the 385's have an inflatable floor that needs to be dry underneath before storing. Check out my blog if you want more info...just do a search on Sea Eagle. Rv Travels with Karen and Al

RE: What Camping equipment does a first time camper need?

kitchen items..plates, silverware, pots, silverware. broom and dust pan, sewer hoses (get good ones, not the ones that come with new rv's) water hose (get one made for fresh water and non kinkable) patio mat is nice to have, bedding, salt, pepper, toothbrush and paste, soap, dish soap, personal hygiene ...and a note pad and pen for the things you forget and need to bring next time :) I agree...camp nearby home where you can either go home for forgotten items or to a Walmart! Have fun

RE: Claim denied for lighting strike to motorhome?

I'm trying to understand better what happened. You said lightning struck a tree NEXT to the motorhome. Is there any indication of where the lightning entered the mh? Any damage to the exterior? any black burn marks, anything like that? Do you have a voltage regulator/power management system between the mh and the power pedestal? Campgrounds are known for having power fluctuations (up and down) and I would think lightning could easily cause this. A voltage protection system would have shut the motorhome power down before any damage was caused. I am guessing this was what caused all your damage. Is it possible, there was a surge which caused all the damage? Check your policy again and see what the exclusions are. THIS is the system we use to protect our mh

RE: Beaver Model Compaisons

The only thing I know about the Beaver models are the one we looked seriously at buying had only a CCC of 679 pounds! That was a deal breaker..... Watch the Cargo Carrying Capacity on whichever one you choose.

RE: Why do I get "dues notices" in the mail all the time?

I got tons of junk mail when we had them for ERS. That's why I switched to Coach Net. I would get their ERS cards all the time, but they weren't the real card. I HATE all the junk mail they send.

RE: Insurance Question

Scenario one. I believe the MH coverage would cover the liability/damage to the vehicle your toad sideswiped. The damage to your toad would be covered under the collision coverage on your toad. Scenario two. I believe the liability would come from the policy on the toad, but it is an interesting issue and definitely something to think about.

RE: Motorhome insurance when stored in the U.S

I think what the OP means is the insurance company may have coverage issues if it's stored over 6 months out of the country or state.

RE: Yikes, we did it

Congrats! We closed on our house almost a year ago. Haven't missed it at all.

RE: President's Club+Good Sams Junk mail

I HATE all the junk mail I receive from them. That is the reason I switched from their emergency roadside assistance to Coach-net. I have opted out and am still getting tons of junk mail. I just sent two envelopes back to them in their postage paid envelopes.

RE: Florida

We are fulltimers and when we registered our cars and mh here, I'm thinking it was about $200 per vehicle. BUT, we had previously lived in Florida and had old tags we could use, so I think that saved us about $50 each vehicle. The annual fee is much less. There is no ad-valorum fee like there was in Georgia...so in the end it's much cheaper.

RE: Digital vs analog TV

Regardless of the cable box situation, I would still suggest changing out the TVs to newer LCD od LED. You may find they cost less than you think. A 32 inch TV can be had for around $200 these days. They are lighter, use less energy and have a much better picture. Just face the fact you are going to have to upgrade the Tvs sooner or later. Go ahead and do it now and save the money you would have spent on converters. X2

It's what dogs do! Our Lab ate cat poop all his life...no matter how much we yelled at him. Hershey kisses :)

RE: GPS warning

We bought a new Garmin Dezl truckers gps. I still don't trust it completely, but hopefully it will keep us off the kinds of roads you experienced. It can be set up for cars as well as trucks and rv's.

RE: Mountain driving

Actually, radiator life is a LOT longer if coolant is changes as it should be, only distilled water and coolant used AND core kept clean. "Core kept clean" on a DP means cleaning the FRONT of the CAC annually! and how exactly is that done,(cleaning the front of the cac annually) if you don't mind.

RE: Another TPMS thread

Just read a blog post about a couple who have the Pressure Pro. They got an alert that the front tire on their toad was losing pressure. There was no place to pull over, but they slowed down. The tire finally blew, but they had already slowed down. Much more important if it had been the front tire on their MH. We have TST and wouldn't be without them. We chose TST because they also monitor temperature.....and I keep a close eye on those temps.
